Chapter 2: Surprises
Hours had gone by after Holly had ripped Damien’s heart out of his chest and by that time, he was crest-fallen. It was 7:11 am in the morning, a handful of hours after the confrontation, when Damien chose to check his phone only to come across a message that was left by his assistant hours earlier. He hadn't been able to fall asleep and chose to just sit on his side of the bed and stare at the wall. "Of course, I did! How could I have missed such a great day?!" It only took about a week for Damien to get caught up in all the work he left behind but when he felt up to it, he returned to the bureau and continued working in his old office. With the news of his identity already all over the world, he had become a celebrity, constantly having to move around in secret to avoid being mowed down by fans and supporters. He rubbed his eyes for the second time that morning as he recalled how tiring his weekend was due to the several business and social outings he had to attend but now that he was in his office, he could have some moment of peace to himself. Or at least that was what he thought. There was a knock on his door before a head popped in. Helen, his secretary, smiled as she saw him and relayed her message.“There’s someone here to see you sir.
