CHAPTER 11
All eyes fell on Adrian following Prince Henry's accusation. The hallway went quiet, and Master Draco frowned. But Adrian remained calm. Like a man with nothing to worry about.“Look at him. He is nothing more than a pitiful peasant I took pity on. I even gave the hopeless fuck a job in my own quarters but he quit!”Prince Henry accused Adrian and then took a step toward him, staring him in the face.“I wondered why he did that, why he quit. It didn't make sense. He was nothing. He's still nothing. But now I know.”“He is a dark mage. Has always been!” Henry said out loud and the servants murmured incomprehensible things.Master Draco shot them all a glare and they kept quiet.“Prince Henry, I understand that we do not know how Adrian came across this information, but labelling him a dark mage is a bit excessive, don't you think so?” Master Draco said to Prince Henry who chuckled.“And why do you say so, master Draco?” Henry asked him.“Because Adrian as we all know is not even a mag
CHAPTER 12
“Princess Sue, you're being mistaken,” Prince Henry said to her while forcing a smile. But every single inch of his body fumed with a wild fire.He wanted to wrap his arms around her neck and strangle her. But he had to play it cool, just for the sake of posterity.“I don't care about your useless excuses! Bottom line remains you failed to protect me while Adrian didn't! Perhaps he should be the Prince of this kingdom and not you,” she voiced out again Henry's eyes flashes to Adrian who just stood there watching the drama with amusement in his eyes. A flash of jealousy cut across Henry's heart.“You elevate trash to position beyond dreams. This useless lowlife couldn't even dream of such a thing. Ha! Now I get it,’ Prince Henry chuckled “You are cracking a joke,” he said and laughed. But princess Sue just watched him with her brow arched.“The only joke here is you, Prince Henry. But all of this I'm willing to forgive if you fall down on your knees and apologize to Adrian,” she said
CHAPTER 13
“Come with me,” the king commanded and walked away with his guards behind him.Master Draco gently approached Adrian, tapped his shoulder and whispered into his ear.“The king might appear all wise but he too has a temper. Stay vigilant and do not let your guard down,” Master Draco told Adrian who nodded.Adrian followed the king while he went into the rotal Chambers. Asking the bodyguards to stay outside, the King called Adrian in.Adrian has never been inside the royal Chambers. It was different from what he heard. The rooms were wider, the floors more polished. The tables were bigger. Adrian was in awe of what he was seeing.“Here's your reward,” the king said and placed a sac full of coins on the table.Adrian gently approached, and took the sac, feeling very fulfilled. “Is it true what my son said? Are you a dark mage?” The king asked Adrian“No, your highness,” Adrian replied.“So how did you know about that strategy?” The king enquired further. He took his seat while Adrian th
CHAPTER 14
Did you have to stoop so low? Huh!” Ciara gritted her teeth. “I could understand the hunger that came from divorcing me but stepping into the palace to steal? That is so fucking low!” She yelled again and laughed at him.Adrian just stood there, watching her throw her tantrums. Ciara crossed her arms.“If you were so hungry, you could have begged me for forgiveness. Perhaps I could have given you a job as a cleaner in my house. ““Instead, you came here to steal. How dare you? Are you so foolish? I can't believe I once let you talk me into marrying you!” She yelled again“You'll never stop humiliating yourself, will you? But I am not in the mood for your nonsense. Leave, now,” Adrian said to her and attempted to walk away but Ciara blocked his path again“You miserable thief! If you think I'd let you leave this place with that money, you're fucking mistaken! I can't let you steal from the kingdom!” She snapped at him.“You better put that money down and run away while you still have

1. The auction hall stood beautifully, right about the upper east side of the kingdom. It was large and wide, built with polished stone and had heavy iron gates at the front that gleamed under the afternoon sun. Expensive carriages had lined the street, each looking fairly expensive and well decorated. Well-dressed nobles got down from some of the carriages, flanked by their servants and guards. They were laughing, chatting, and already discussing prices… more like bragging about what they owned before the auction had even began. Adrian stopped a few steps away from the gates, admiring the view for a bit while Macy clutched his arm tighter, feeling intimidated by the place. "Brother..." She whispered. "This place looks... expensive." Adrian looked down at her and smiled. “That's the point." “What can we even do at a place like this?” Macy asked, still worried. She tugged on his shirt "Perhaps we should go back. We can find somewhere smaller and cheaper. Like, within our

16. The guards staggered to their feet and stiffened at once and the entire place became quiet. "C-Councillor!” One of them said, bowing quickly. "This man here attacked us." The councillor's eyes moved from their sorry selves to Adrian slowly, dragging his gaze over Adrian’s ragged clothes and boots, and back up to look him in the eyes with disdain. He turned back to the guards in disbelief. "This one? He attacked you?" He asked. "By himself?" "Yes, sir.” The guard said quickly. "He caused trouble and refused to leave this place." The councillor then laughed, shaking his head. “I see, you must be cracking a silly joke. Don’t use such a sorry sight as your excuse for horsing around.” He went closer to Adrian, his fine robes brushing against the floor and the sun gleaming on his hair as he moved. People nearby were still watching with interest. "This is an auction organised under my name.” The councillor said calmly. "And you chose today to act like animals?" Adri

17. The mansion stood in all its glory, reaching into the skies. There were gardens all around the compound and the tall gates they got in through looked like something from a fairy tale. There were gorgeous lamps and outdoor decorations and smack in the middle was a large fountain, making the place look a lot more elegant. The air smelled clean and safe. It felt like comfort, and as Macy looked around, she realised that she had never felt so at ease in her life. The servants were all lined up inside when they got in. It was their job to greet the new masters of the house when they came in. "Welcome, master.” One said with a deep bow, then turned to Macy. “Welcome, mistress.” “No no, I-I’m not—” “Accept their greetings, Macy. This is ours now.” Adrian said to his sister. "Please come inside." The servants were all said, walking in. Another hurried to Macy's side. “Miss, are you all right? You look quite pale." Macy smiled weakly. “I'm fine." Adrian frowned,

18. Adrian had just got into the carriage his servant hailed when he heard a loud noise. "Master!" He looked outside quickly, and to his surprise, his servant was on the ground. Two big men were standing over him and one kicked him in the ribs. "Stop that!" Adrian yelled. "Well, well, well." Someone said, walking into view. "Leaving in such a hurry?" He was a lanky man with a creepy smirk on his face, and a long thin scar ran down his face. "Oh it's you alright. My name's Ken." "Didn't ask. Leave us alone." Ken chuckled. "You walked into that brothel dressed like a beggar... then walked out with enough gold to blind a king. Who do you think you are?" Adrian raised a brow. He was not in the mood for this. Ken spread his arms wide. "This is my area! Did you think no one would notice you?" Adrian said nothing, but he saw a few more men coming out of the shadows. "Now let me tell you what I've noticed. You're clearly not from around here." Ken said. "And y

19. Just the next morning, the whole district has heard of the miracle man who had brought a lady back to life. Adrian was too busy taking care of Macy as he was still extremely worried about her to notice the gossip. Unknown to him, the story had gone far enough to other nobles and people in the far palace district. His ex-wife who has betrayed him wasn't doing any better. Ciara's father was gravely ill and they had left him on a wooden bed to lay until his death. He started coughing hard again, holding his chest. His wife rushed to his side. "Easy dear!" He groaned. "It burns... kill me now." Ciara's mother looked helpless. She didn't know what to say to that. Suddenly there was a knock on their door. "I just heard great news for you all!" Their neighbour said, entering into the house, scrunching up her nose at the smell of sick. "I just heard of this and rushed to tell you. There's a miracle healer who just moved into the coucillors mansion! They say he brough

20. Ciara's mother threw her head back and laughed out loud. "Why are we here?" She repeated in a mocking tone. "Listen to him! My manor, he says!" She looked Adrian up and down and spat at his feet. "Are you working here as a servant?" She asked. "Did the real healer hire you to sweep the floors?" A few people snickered, looking at them. It didn’t make sense that such a plainly dressed man was the owner of this manor and the powerful miracle healer. Ciara's father coughed weakly beside her, but she paid him no mind. "I always knew that was all you were good for!” She continued to say. "Standing at the bottom of someone's feet. You don't even have magic, a non magical. What kind of healer doesn't have magic?" The crowd started mocking him. "Nonmagical?" "Is that true?" "He doesn't even use energy?" “Wow, he must really be a useless servant!” Adrian stood still. His face did not show anger, but he was tired of her nonsense. Ciara's mother folded her arms.
