Chapter 21:
A pindrop silence followed. Kyle’s expression darkened immediately. His eyes raging. The veins on the back of his hands bulged as he stared at Riven. No one had ever had the guts to speak to him in that manner! A murderous glint flashed in Kyle’s eyes as he bursted into laughter. “What courage!” He sneered. “I was going to spare your life but now, you have changed my mind.” Kyle turned slightly to the men behind him. “Who wants to go first?” One of them stepped forward immediately. He was nearly two meters tall, with a thick scar running from his temple to his jaw. He cracked his neck slowly as he said, “Leave this little flea to me, young master.” Several of the guests gasped as they recognised him instantly. “It’s Iron Palm Wu!” “I had heard he once crippled eight men with his bare hands!” “He is one of the most dangerous men under Kyle Yang!” “This boy is finished, he shouldn’t have provoked Master Yang.” Iron Palm Wu rolled his shoulders before looking at Riven as t
Chapter 22:
They immediately surrounded Riven from four directions. WHOOSH! WHOOSH! Punches, kicks and elbows were all thrown at Riven. Their coordination was flawless, the guests watched nervously. In their minds, this was already a dead cause. Four against one? Riven was definitely no match for them at all! Odessa’s breathing became uneven as she watched. Even Old Lady Chen unknowingly gripped her cane. Riven sighed with a bored expression. “I was hoping one of you could last longer.” Before anyone could understand what he meant, he disappeared. He moved so fast that their eyes failed to keep up with his speed. A shadow then flashed between the four fighters. TAP. TAP TAP. TAP. Four dull impacts echoed almost simultaneously. The attackers froze, their hands in mid-air. Each of them wore the same stunned expressions. Then, one after the other they collapsed to the floor with a bang. The sound of the four bodies hitting the floor echoed throughout the hall. The guests were shock
Chapter 23:
Murmurs rose from the crowd. No one had even dared to speak to Kyle Yang in that manner. His jaw clenched in rage and embarrassment. He had met countless martial artists throughout the years. Some belonged to famous schools, others came from hidden clans but none had possessed this man’s terrifying precision. Every strike had landed on a vital point with no unnecessary stunt or wasted energy. This wasn’t just skill, it was experience. Who exactly was this young man? “Riven!” Alyssa suddenly screamed, attracting the attention of everyone, her eyes were red with fury. “Look what you’ve done!” She pointed at the unconscious fighters. “You think knowing a few tricks makes you invincible?” “My father is lying unconscious because of you! Our family has become enemies with the Yang family because of you!” She suddenly turned toward Odessa. “And it’s all because you insisted on bringing this lunatic into our family!” Suddenly, she grabbed a silver diner fork from the table. Her eyes
Chapter 24:
“Not fit to know who he was?” “Has this man gone crazy?” Kyle however didn’t look offended by his statement instead, he gave a respectful bow. “I was wrong just now. My younger bother acted very foolishly and in turn I have acted the same way. I ask for forgiveness.” “What?!” The whole hall was stunned. “This can’t be happening.” “Kyle Yang is asking for forgiveness?” “Never in my 40 odd years did I think I would live to see such a day.” “Brother Yang, what are you doing? Why are you apologizing to this punk? Has he deceived you with his magic tricks?!” Jake asked, astonished. Kyle shot him a look which shut him up instantly. “What do you people know? The moves these Young Master had used are martial arts moves that I have been trying to learn for a few years now! This Young Master must be respected!” Elias and Alyssa exchanged glances. “Master Yang, you are mistaken. Riven doesn’t know any martial arts!” Elias said. “He’s merely a mentally unstable husband of m
Chapter 25:
The guests stared in awe as Jake continued to make pleas for his life. “Even if I were to forgive you for impersonation, would that pay back the eight million dollars you had stolen from me?” Young Master Wang questioned with cold eyes. Cold sweat instantly broke out on Jake’s skin. His eyes searched frantically for an escape. Seeing none, he immediately grabbed the Young Master’s feet. “I was wrong! It was a mistake. Please have mercy!” At that moment, sirens sounded from outside the hall. Several police men walked into the hall. “Jake Wang?” Jake’s eyes widened in horror as they approached. “You’re under arrest for impersonation, fraud and embezzlement.“ Everyone watched in bewilderment as Jake was handcuffed and taken away. Some of the guest subconsciously looked up at Riven. He had told them about this but no one had believed him. Young Master Wang thanked Orion, his eyes moving to Riven and he gave a subtle nod. It wasn’t noticeable to others but Odessa caught
Chapter 26:
“I never knew I would set my eyes on him. It’s a very rare occasion for him to be out in public.” “I wonder what he’s doing here. The Zhao family and the Mori family do not like each other at all!” Dai Mori glanced at Orion offering a nod. “Master Zhao.” “Master Mori,” Orion greeted. “What brings you here?” Dai raised a solemn brow. It was no news that the Zhao family and the Mori family were at odds with each other precisely because of the Wei heir. Late Damon Zhao and the head of the Mori family had clashed over who would have custody of the young Riven and Damon had won because of the closeness he had with Riven’s late father. How Mr. Gao, a subordinate of the Mori family had an invitation to the Zhao’s banquet was a mystery. “May I ask why the Wei heir is being bullied right under your very own roof without you speaking?” Dai retorted. Orion sucked in a breath at the accusation. “I believe the Wei heir is quite capable enough to handle matters on his own.” A
Chapter 27:
“Master Wei, please have mercy on us. We were wrong!” The two brothers cried in unison. “Master Wei, do you want us to let them go?” Dai asked with a respectful tone in his voice. Riven went silent for a beat before looking down at the two men kneeling in front of him. “Kyle Yang, you claim to be a martial arts practitioner but you do not follow the rules and laws guiding martial arts. You use your position to control, manipulate and oppress others for that reason, break your fingers.” Kyle’s face went as white as a sheet. His whole body went cold as he slowly looked up at Riven. Riven wasn’t joking at all! “Ma… master Wei..” “What?” Riven asked with a raised brow. “Can’t do it? But you were clamouring for me to break mine. What’s wrong?” Kyle pursed his lips exchanging glances with his brother. His body suddenly felt hot as he stared at his fingers and swallowed hard, cold sweat breaking out on his skin. Dai seem to step forward and Kyle suddenly said. “I will do
Chapter 28:
The events at the Zhao’s banquet had spread across Kairen City like wildfire. The rumors about Riven being the mysterious Wei heir were being speculated. However, Old Lady Chen had ordered every member of the family to be silent about what had happened during the banquet because despite the revelation about Riven being the Wei’s heir, some considered them shameless for trying to hook up their daughters with rich heirs. In a dimly lit study, an elderly man stood in front of the window, staring at the faint city lights with cold, expressionless eyes. He stared at the report in his hand and drank a little from the glass containing scotch in the other. “So… the young master is alive?” A shuffling sound echoed lightly from behind him. “There are rumors that he is. We do not know for such yet,” replied a husky voice. “I see,” the man said with a brief nod. “Investigate into this matter. We can’t have him around much longer.” “Yes master.” The door to the study closed so
Chapter 29:
Director Han’s expression didn’t falter despite the gravity of Old Lady Chen’s words. “I’m questioning the decision, Chairwoman and not your authority.” Aurelius slammed his palm against the conference table. “Director Han!” He barked. “Mind your words. You have worked under this company for decades, yet you dare oppose the Chairwoman over an outsider?” Director Han raised a brow at Aurelius’s words. “Outsider?” He repeated, his gaze shifted towards Odessa. “Ms. Odessa is the granddaughter personally groomed by the late Chairman. Every major project completed in the last three years bears her signature!” He looked back at Elias with a neutral expression. “On the other hand, Young Master Elias has never independently managed a single project from beginning to completion.” Several departmental heads instinctively lowered their heads. No one dared to agree aloud, but everyone knew Director Han wasn’t lying. Elias’ smile gradually disappeared, his face twisting into a f
Chapter 30:
For a few seconds after the two were left alone, no one spoke. Elias slowly walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bustling city below. Slipping his hands into his pocket, he gave a satisfied chuckle. “So this is what it feels like?” Odessa continued arranging the documents in front of her without looking up. “What does?” He turned around with a gleeful expression that held mockery. “Power.” His gaze swept across the conference room as he spoke, the mockery on his face fading into something darker. “I wonder why Grandpa always insisted on grooming you instead of me,” he laughed slightly. “Now I understand.” He walked towards the conference table, stopping directly in front of Odessa. “It isn’t because you are so capable. It’s because he never had the chance to see me take everything from you, always looking down on us all. Well, things are changing now.” Odessa finally looked up, a blank expression on her face as they locked gazes. “If th
