Chapter 1
Chapter 1:
“So this is the trash grandfather had asked you to marry?!”
BANG! The door of the courthouse instantly flew open almost falling off its hinges as it slammed against the wall. A young man and several men of the same age bracket walked in. He advanced towards the couple standing in front of the registrar’s table about to get their marriage certificate stamped. “Elias, what are you doing here?” The lady asked, raising a brow, staring at the men behind him suspiciously. Elias gave a light shrug. “I was wondering why my cousin wouldn’t invite us for her own wedding,” he shifted his gaze to the ordinary looking man beside her, disgust clearly written on his face. “Turns out she just wanted to hide the fact that she was getting married to a loser!” Elias turned towards his friends, who were almost doubling over with laughter. “Can you guys imagine this? Odessa Chen, the supposed most beautiful woman in the whole of Kairen City has settled for a lunatic from the Wei family just to satisfy our grandpa who is probably rotting in the grave by now. Such piety.” Rounds of laughter echoed through the room. Odessa’s jaw clenched as embarrassment and rage washed over her. “Elias, leave. You’re causing a scene and don’t talk about grandpa with such a disrespectful tone!” “I’m causing a scene?” Elias gave a dramatic gasp. “But I’m not the one who is about to get catfished by marrying someone you don’t know.” Odessa’s brows furrowed deeply. “What do you mean?” “Grandpa told you to get married to the Wei’s heir, but looking at this man standing here like a mute idiot, does he even look like the son of the Wei’s family?!” Elias responded, gloating. Odessa glanced at the man before her, different questions running through her mind. The members of the Wei family had been murdered overnight eighteen years ago, their son being the only one to survive the ordeal was said to have been affected by that incident becoming mentally impaired and the Zhao family had taken him in. The Zhao family was one of the six most important families in the city but none of them were in attendance at this wedding. This man had appeared alone claiming to be Riven Wei, the long lost son of the Wei family and he was dressed in simple clothes not even worthy enough to be called a wedding attire. “Miss Chen, why would you decide to get married to a nobody who can’t even speak up for you or himself?” One of Elias’s friends, Valentin Gao said with a frown. “We should confirm whether or not he is indeed the Wei’s heir! We can’t continue to let Miss Chen be decieved by a pauper!” “Yes! We have to check!” “Valentin is right. Once we do, we will send this fraud over to the police!” Riven stared at the little crowd with a bored expression on his face. Valentin let out a small smirk seeing that everyone was in support of him. If he could successfully prove this man was a fraud then maybe Odessa will finally agree to his advances and marry him right here and now since she was so much in a hurry to get married and claim position as the manager in Chen group. “I have heard that the Wei’s heir has a crescent moon birthmark at the back of his neck. If we don’t find the mark on this man’s neck then we will hand him over to the police for fraud and impersonation and have the Zhao family deal with him as well!” Elias immediately nodded. “Yes, let’s check for the mark. I can’t believe my cousin will be this gullible, hehe.” Odessa pursed her lips. She didn’t want to cause a scene in a public place such as this. She spoke calmly to Riven. “Can you let them see the mark so they can leave?” Riven looked at her and realised that even she too was in doubt. He inhaled sharply and shook his head. “No.” Revealing his identity in public was too risky but just as he refused the crowd was thrown into a frenzy, even Odessa was stunned. “You see, he just refused because he isn’t the Wei’s heir!” Valentin sneered. “Miss Chen, why would you let yourself be fooled by a liar and a fraud?! You don’t deserve this!” Riven narrowed his eyes on Valentin. “Funny how the most dishonest ones will try to cover up their crimes and be the first to throw stones.” Valentin’s face shaped into a frown instantly. “What did you say?” “Does everyone here know that you slept with the secretary of a rival company just to get secrets to use to destroy the CEO?” Riven asked with a little smirk. Valentin’s lips quivered as his eyes bulged out of their sockets. How did he— “And do they also know about your gambling debts, the shell accounts you use to steal money from your family company’s accounts?—” “—Or you have suddenly repented and decide to seek pardon for your sins by doing this?” “Shut up!” Valentin half-yelled. Cold sweat breaking across his forehead, sliding down his face. Nobody should know about this! Nobody knew about this expect him and his father. They had hidden this so well so how does this trash know so much about his shady dealings?! Seeing that the crowd had gone silent and they were all staring at him, fear crept into Valentin’s heart. “You all shouldn’t believe a thing that comes out of this punk’s mouth! He’s only lying just to make sure you all don’t prove his identity!” Valentin said with conviction, but his earlier confidence stance had broken. “You all shouldn’t be fooled! How can I even do all these things that he has said?! I’m innocent.” “I have known Valentin for years and I can testify to the fact that none of this is true!” Someone suddenly spoke up from the crowd. “Yes! Valentin Gao is a philanthropist who has done many good deals for this city. There’s no way he would try to jeopardize his good name by doing all these things this man accuses him off.” “He is probably just trying to cook up stories to get us off his back and smear Mr. Gao’s good name! Mr. Gao, arrest him for slander!” “Yes! He must be dealt with!” Valentin relaxed instantly, his lips twisting into a sick smile. “Your time is up, loser. Get ready to lose your head for not only lying to Miss Chen but trying to smear my name in the mud!” “Are you sure your name is being smeared in the mud or you have just had all these people too decieved to see through your lies?” Riven asked calmly. “You…!” “Stop talking already!” Elias sounded. “And what are you all still doing moping around?! Take this man down and check for the mark!” “Yes young master Chen!” “Elias, stop this! This is a public place!” Odessa yelled but no one listened to her. The men instantly charged at Riven but just as they were about to manhandle him, several phones began ringing with notifications. “You guys, check the news!” Valentin’s eyes dropped to his phone and his face went pale as he staggered backwards in shock. His phone rang blatantly in his hands, his fingers shook as he answered the call. “VALENTIN GAO, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!”Expand

The Ryu Dynasty Returns Chapter 35:
Elias reached for the first report but George beat him to it. His eyes scanned through the file, his expression changed with each flipped page.“These…”He glanced at Odessa’s direction with surprise etched on his face before lowering his gaze again.“These calculations are correct.”“What?” Marcus frowned.George flipped to another section. “The cost analysis matches the original proposal… even the revised cash flow projections have been updated.”“Give me that!”Elias snatched the report from his hands. His eyes darted wildly across the pages, searching for a mistake. There had to be one!He had deliberately assigned three projects that should have taken at least a week to complete so he could chase her away! How had she done it in a single night?!Meanwhile, George had already opened the second file. A minute later, he closed it and picked up the third. When he finally looked up, his usually calm face carried admiration.“They are all complete,” he said, leaning against his seat.

The Ryu Dynasty Returns Chapter 34:
The next morning, all department supervisors had gathered in Elias’ office. No one knew the exact reason for the meeting but rumors seem to spread faster than facts. “I heard Ms. Chen couldn’t finish those reports.” “Of course she couldn’t. Three major projects overnight? We all know that’s impossible.” “Elias probably just wants everyone to witness her failure.” … Meanwhile in Elias’ office… Elias lowered himself into the executive chair, slowly turning it from side to side, a smug smile tugging on his lips. “So…” he began, crossing both legs over the desk. “What do you think about my first day as manager?” The supervisors exchanged glances, no one spoke until— “Impressive, Elias. I must commend you, really…” Everyone turned towards the owner of the voice. Marcus Liu, the head of the procurement department, stood out with a patronising smile. “To be honest, many of us here have been waiting for someone with courage…” he trailed off. “Indeed!” Another voice so

The Ryu Dynasty Returns Chapter 33:
“See?” Elias said, dropping back the receiver with a smirk as he looks up at Lily. “Negotiation is all about confidence. If you don’t ask for more, they will never offer it.” Lily pursed her lips about to point out how wrong he was but before she could, he said, “Inform all the supervisors that we will be having a meeting tomorrow morning.” “Yes sir,” Lily said, heaving a breath as she scurried away. Elias’ eyes showed a mysterious expression. Let’s see whether you would be able to escape this time. … Office 3B. The flipping of pages and the rhythmic tapping of Odessa’s fingers against the keyboard filled the office. Papers and notes were scattered on the table. Her eyes were fixed solely on the monitor. Her phone vibrated against the desk, diverting her attention. It was an unfamiliar number. “Hello?” A deep, courteous voice came through the reciever. “Ms. Odessa Chen?” “Speaking...” “This is Huang Wen from Han Corporation.” Odessa instantly straightene
