Chapter 1
"Aili...honey" my grandmother said softly holding my hand. I looked at her soft brown eyes, she was such a kind hearted person. It was too bad my father didn't inherit that kindness "Grandma I really don't want to go to that school. We didn't have to move...just because he wants to run away from everything that had to do with my mother!" I breathed out harshly. I was so angry, my mother had just passed away and my father decided it was a great idea to move. I call that running away and that wasn't fair on me. I had a life in Roundstone County, Ireland was my home. It was 'our' home, there was absolutely no logical reason for us to move to the USA. It just didn't make any logical sense. "I know it hurts my sweet sweet child but your father is only doing what he thinks is best for you. Try to understand that he is hurting too" she squeezed my hand softly "everything there reminded him of her, he barely ate or slept. Maybe this will be good for him and you."I blinked as I felt a stra

Everything was so dark but I could hear them weeping. I could feel their sadness, the feeling of loss surrounded me like a plague and it made my skin feel ice cold. It felt like I was buried in ice. I wanted to see light, to be out of the dark. There was a beeping sound and a familiar voice. My father's voice, I decided to concentrate on that. My eyelids felt heavy as I tried lifting them up. The beeping sound increased and I felt someone rush beside me."she is awake!" I heard my grandmother exclaim and I squinted my eyes. She sounded so loud my ears were ringing. "Catherine give her some space please" my father said watching me.She smiled as she moved away a bit but she still held my hand softly "oh honey you had us scared to death" she said with worry evident in her eyes."what happened?" I asked as my eyes adjusted to the light. My dad seemed tense "What can you remember?" I was quiet for a few seconds as I tried to recall what had happened. "I was walking to the bus stop the

"are you sure you want to go in Aili, you can stay home for a few days" my dad said, concern evident in his voice. He was worried about me but that wasn't necessary because I was fine... I think.I shook my head before opening the door "Dad I'm okay don't worry about me""I will pick you up after school, no debates." he said as I jumped out of the car.I sighed closing the door behind me "fine!"I heard the car drive off as I walked to class. The dry air brushed against my face and I blinked. 'Everything was going to be fine' I told myself. I could feel people staring at me as I arrived in class. They whispered, laughed and glared. I walked to my seat and pretended nobody else existed except for me plus the board in front of me.They probably thought I was weird and nobody wanted to hang out with the weird girl . I was dragged out of my thoughts when Sam sat in front of me. I looked at her concerned face and I didn't miss it when Bradley shouted "Oh she is sitting with the freak now,
Chapter 4
I awoke to a world of shadows and whispers. My surroundings were unfamiliar, shrouded in an eerie quietness. Dim lighting cast flickering shadows on the walls, and strange symbols adorned the surfaces around me. It was as if I had been transported to a place that existed between reality and a dream.I sat up slowly, my heart racing as I took in the unsettling atmosphere. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, and a chill ran down my spine. My gaze landed on a figure in the shadows, a cloaked silhouette that seemed to merge with the darkness. The figure turned towards me, their face hidden beneath the hood of their cloak. They didn't speak immediately, and I felt a knot of unease forming in my stomach. When their voice finally cut through the silence, it was laden with a sense of foreboding."Aili," the figure whispered, their voice like a haunting melody. "You have ventured beyond the veil."I blinked, my throat dry as I struggled to find my words. "Beyond the veil? What does

The encounter with Brandon and his revelations had left me with a sense of unease. My thoughts were a whirlwind of questions and uncertainties as I navigated the hallways. As I approached my locker, I felt a pair of eyes on me. I turned to find Nick watching me, his expression a mixture of concern and curiosity. "Aili, can I talk to you for a moment?" he asked, his voice laced with urgency.I nodded, my heart racing as I followed him to a quieter corner of the hallway. "What's going on, Nick?"He glanced around as if ensuring no one was listening. "I saw you talking to Brandon yesterday."I crossed my arms, my gaze unwavering. "And what of it?"He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, I know he seems intriguing, but there's something you need to know about him. He's not... entirely trustworthy."I raised an eyebrow, my skepticism evident. "And you are?"Nick's expression darkened. "Aili, I don't want you getting involved in things you don't understand. Brandon is connected t
Chapter 6
The halls of Sherfield High School felt both familiar and foreign as I navigated through the crowds, my gaze avoiding any hint of Brandon's presence. His cryptic words and the warnings from Nick had left me on edge, and I was determined to distance myself from the enigmatic bad boy.As I approached my locker, Lisa's skeptical gaze met mine. She arched an eyebrow, her lips twisting into a half-smile. "So, Aili, you're into the whole 'mystical' thing, huh?"I sighed, the weight of her judgment palpable. "I'm just trying to figure things out, Lisa. It's been a strange couple of days."Lisa shrugged, her expression unconvinced. "Just don't let it consume you. We've got enough to worry about without adding ghosts to the mix."Before I could respond, Samantha approached us, a bright smile lighting up her features. "Hey, Aili. Lisa, let's give her a break, okay? She's just trying to navigate through all this weirdness."I offered Samantha a grateful smile, appreciating her support. "Thanks,

I was about to open my mouth when a familiar voice sounded behind me. "Aili, hold up. Can we talk?"I turned to see Nick standing there, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. "Nick, I-"He cut me off, his voice urgent. "I saw you heading towards Brandon. What's this about?"I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I just... I feel like he knows something I need to know."Nick's brows furrowed. "Aili, you're not seeing the bigger picture. Brandon's got a criminal record. He's not someone you want to get involved with."Before I could respond, I noticed Brandon's eyes on us, his gaze intense. He had overheard our conversation, his expression unreadable.Nick stepped closer, his eyes locked on Brandon. "Listen, I know you're new here, but Brandon's trouble. You need to stay away from him."The tension in the air was palpable, the impending clash between them threatening to erupt. But before things escalated further, the principal's voice shattered the moment. "Alright, that'

The night loomed, and Sam's backyard was aglow with twinkling fairy lights as the Friday the 13th birthday party commenced. Ignoring the nagging unease that clawed at my thoughts, I joined the festivities, determined not to let my fears steal another moment.Amidst the laughter and music, I sipped on my drink, my eyes flickering across the crowd. Nick, surprisingly, approached me with a genuine smile. "Hey Aili, you made it."I returned the smile, letting my guard down for a moment. "Yeah, figured I'd stop being a buzzkill and actually enjoy myself."His demeanor turned more serious. "By the way, I hope you're taking my advice seriously. Brandon's got a darker side, trust me."A pang of concern gnawed at me, his words playing on my mind. "What do you mean, a darker side?"He sighed, his expression tense. "I don't want you getting hurt. He's got a record, Aili. He's hurt people before."Confusion mingled with a hint of betrayal. "Why are you telling me this now?"He reached out, his ha
