"are you sure you want to go in Aili, you can stay home for a few days" my dad said, concern evident in his voice. He was worried about me but that wasn't necessary because I was fine... I think.

I shook my head before opening the door "Dad I'm okay don't worry about me"

"I will pick you up after school, no debates." he said as I jumped out of the car.

I sighed closing the door behind me "fine!"

I heard the car drive off as  I walked to class. The dry air brushed against my face and I blinked. 'Everything was going to be fine' I told myself. I could feel people staring at me as I arrived in class. They whispered, laughed and glared. I walked to my seat and pretended nobody else existed except for me plus the board in front of me.

They probably thought I was weird and nobody wanted to hang out with the weird girl . I was dragged out of my thoughts when Sam sat in front of me. I looked at her concerned face and I didn't miss it when Bradley shouted "Oh she is sitting with the freak now,"

Nick cut him off "shut it rat face!"

I almost smiled knowing some people actually cared about me. Sam smiled at me "are you okay Aili. We heard what happened. We wanted to come see you in the hospital but they wouldn't allow us"

"who wouldn't allow you?" I asked curiously.

"The cops, they were everywhere in the hospital and at the bogs. Sherfield has never experienced two mysterious deaths before in one night" Lisa said joining us.

I nodded "I am okay, just a little shaken"

"I am glad you are okay. I should have been there. I shouldn't have let you go back alone. I am sorry Aili" Sam apologized.

"it's okay Sam... You don't have to apologize. It was my fault, I acted up after having just a little alcohol. I let it get to my head but I am okay."

Lisa nudged my hand grabbing my attention "did you really see something, when you asked Amanda to leave"

I froze, to be honest I didn't want to talk about it. I didn't want to relieve that moment, it only made me wish I had done more to convince them to leave. Maybe then they would still be alive with us today.

"enough of that, let her be. Let's get through this class then we can talk later... That's only if you want to talk about it" Sam said as the teacher walked in and I nodded at her with a smile.

I was beginning to really like Sam, she was so caring and sweet. She was a good friend. The classes dragged on and on. It was one class after the other so when we got our break I was relieved. I didn't have any classes after the break anyways which made my day better. Atleast I could talk to Sam about whatever it is I was going through. Sam was standing by her locker talking to Lisa, Sarah and Blake. Her locker was open so she couldn't see me coming.

I froze in my spot as I heard them talking... about me.

"We really shouldn't be seen hanging around with that freak. It's ruining our reputation seriously" Lisa said

I could hear Sam sigh "she is not a freak besides don't you want to know how she knew something was wrong?"

"honestly... I don't. Best she stays away from us. What if she has some badluck and shit. I don't want her near us" Lisa shook her head

Sarah nodded "Lisa is right, best you stay away from that freak or you will be labeled the same"

I didn't have to hear more, actually I couldn't hear more so I turned around. All I wanted to do right now was to sleep in my room with the curtains closed. I told myself earlier on that I would wait for my dad but I couldn't stay here any longer.

Walking back home wasn't so bad, it actually helped me get my head clear. I walked at a slower pace enjoying the moment when a voice distracted me. "shouldn't you be in class Princess" he said and I looked behind me there was noone.

I looked a few feet next to me and there he was wearing a smirk on his face. It was one of the boys from my class but he was a senior taking a few of the subjects from our class. "No" I said increasing my pace a little. I wanted him to go away.

"So the princess is already breaking the rules now" he said somehow catching up to me.

I almost groaned."stop calling me princess okay"

"where's the fun in that, you shouldn't be walking alone Princess. We have ghosts here" he whispered and grinned.

I wasn't amused but I didn't miss his beautiful electric blue eyes and his dark jet black curly hair. His features screamed handsome bad boy. "I don't mind ghosts maybe you should go away and hide before they get you" I smirked.

"oh actually I think I will stick around. Don't want you getting hurt or something. So Princess why would you leave school this early?" he asked sounding curious.

I took a glance at him "aren't you nosy"

"I am just curious, you don't strike me as a bad girl Princess" he smiled

I rolled my eyes "stop with the princess thing. Why aren't you in class"

"oh I hate school I'm never in class half of the time but you... You are not like me" his smile suddenly faded as a he watched me "did something happen?"

"Suddenly I'm the freak of the school. That's what happened, happy now. Go away" I snapped

He laughed "hmmm I think I will stick around more. You are quite a beautiful freak - Princess" he smiled looking ahead

I think my cheeks were tomato red at this point as I looked at the ground speechless.

The night loomed, and Sam's backyard was aglow with twinkling fairy lights as the Friday the 13th birthday party commenced. Ignoring the nagging unease that clawed at my thoughts, I joined the festivities, determined not to let my fears steal another moment.Amidst the laughter and music, I sipped on my drink, my eyes flickering across the crowd. Nick, surprisingly, approached me with a genuine smile. "Hey Aili, you made it."I returned the smile, letting my guard down for a moment. "Yeah, figured I'd stop being a buzzkill and actually enjoy myself."His demeanor turned more serious. "By the way, I hope you're taking my advice seriously. Brandon's got a darker side, trust me."A pang of concern gnawed at me, his words playing on my mind. "What do you mean, a darker side?"He sighed, his expression tense. "I don't want you getting hurt. He's got a record, Aili. He's hurt people before."Confusion mingled with a hint of betrayal. "Why are you telling me this now?"He reached out, his ha

I was about to open my mouth when a familiar voice sounded behind me. "Aili, hold up. Can we talk?"I turned to see Nick standing there, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. "Nick, I-"He cut me off, his voice urgent. "I saw you heading towards Brandon. What's this about?"I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I just... I feel like he knows something I need to know."Nick's brows furrowed. "Aili, you're not seeing the bigger picture. Brandon's got a criminal record. He's not someone you want to get involved with."Before I could respond, I noticed Brandon's eyes on us, his gaze intense. He had overheard our conversation, his expression unreadable.Nick stepped closer, his eyes locked on Brandon. "Listen, I know you're new here, but Brandon's trouble. You need to stay away from him."The tension in the air was palpable, the impending clash between them threatening to erupt. But before things escalated further, the principal's voice shattered the moment. "Alright, that'

The halls of Sherfield High School felt both familiar and foreign as I navigated through the crowds, my gaze avoiding any hint of Brandon's presence. His cryptic words and the warnings from Nick had left me on edge, and I was determined to distance myself from the enigmatic bad boy.As I approached my locker, Lisa's skeptical gaze met mine. She arched an eyebrow, her lips twisting into a half-smile. "So, Aili, you're into the whole 'mystical' thing, huh?"I sighed, the weight of her judgment palpable. "I'm just trying to figure things out, Lisa. It's been a strange couple of days."Lisa shrugged, her expression unconvinced. "Just don't let it consume you. We've got enough to worry about without adding ghosts to the mix."Before I could respond, Samantha approached us, a bright smile lighting up her features. "Hey, Aili. Lisa, let's give her a break, okay? She's just trying to navigate through all this weirdness."I offered Samantha a grateful smile, appreciating her support. "Thanks,

"What's going on, Nick?"He glanced around as if ensuring no one was listening. "I saw you talking to Brandon yesterday."I crossed my arms, my gaze unwavering. "And what of it?"He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, I know he seems intriguing, but there's something you need to know about him. He's not... entirely trustworthy."I raised an eyebrow, my skepticism evident. "And you are?"Nick's expression darkened. "Aili, I don't want you getting involved in things you don't understand. I awoke to a world of shadows and whispers. My surroundings were unfamiliar, shrouded in an eerie quietness. Dim lighting cast flickering shadows on the walls, and strange symbols adorned the surfaces around me. It was as if I had been transported to a place that existed between reality and a dream.I sat up slowly, my heart racing as I took in the unsettling atmosphere. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, and a chill ran down my spine. My gaze landed on a figure in the shadows, a cloaked silhouette that seemed to merge with the darkness. The figure turned towards me, their face hidden beneath the hood of their cloak. They didn't speak immediately, and I felt a knot of unease forming in my stomach. When their voice finally cut through the silence, it was laden with a sense of foreboding."Aili," the figure whispered, their voice like a haunting melody.
