The Rebirth
The smell of blood was everywhere, it coated the marble floors of the Crimson palace in the vampire kingdom, the walls were stained and my clothes were soaked in blood. My breaths were ragged as I staggered through the throne room leaving footprints stained with blood behind. Bodies littered the ground, the guards, servants, royal knights, mom, dad, and my sister, all dead. The sight of their body should have shattered me, instead I felt numb maybe because the pain had become too much, or because I knew I wasn't leaving this place alive. Tonight was meant to be the happiest day of my life, I was meant to be coronated to officially become vampire prince and the heir to the crimson throne. Instead it had become my funeral. The massive doors behind me burst open, I slowly turned and three familiar figures entered. My heart clenched, but because I was afraid, but because these were the people I trusted more than anyone Adrian Ravencroft my best friend, heir to the were
Ethan Cross
I barely heard Adrian’s voice anymore, my attention remained fixed on Aurora, the princess of the witch kingdom. The woman who I had spent most of my life quietly fading into the background, because she was meant to be married to my best friend. A chill crawled down my spine, knowing she had also been reborn just like me. “Kael!” Adrian snapped his fingers in front of my face, I blinked. Aurora was gone, only the swaying branches of the trees remained. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost” Adrian said. I forced a calm expression onto my face, “just tired”. He stared at me suspiciously then shrugged, “whatever you say” Together we headed towards the academy’s main building. Students filled the pathways connecting the dormitories to the enormous castle like structure that served as Blsckthorn academy. Five years ago I had walked these same paths without a care in the world, now I couldn’t stop seeing potential enemies, traitors and murderers. My gaze swept across the c
The Investigation Begins
The crowds parted as Headmaster Alaric walked forward, while other professors rushed forward. I remained where I was, my eyes stayed fixed on the body lying in the grass. Ethan, he was a second year wizard, a cold knot settled in my stomach. “Everyone return to your dormitories” Headmaster Alarics voice cut through all the terrified whispers, the other students reluctantly obeyed, nobody wanted to keep seeing the dead body. Not after seeing the mark engraved on his body, or seeing the paleness of his skin, even vampires looked disturbed. As students slowly started dispersing, I noticed headmaster Alaric quietly take the fabric under Ethan’s body and tuck into his coat pocket. The fact that he hid evidence bothered me a lot. As I turned to leave, I noticed Aurora standing a few feet away. She looked pale, not because of the corpse, but because she understood exactly what this meant. Our eyes met, neither of us spoke we didn’t need too, because we both knew Ethan wasn
Mira Holloway
The notebook slipped from Aurora‘s hand, hitting the floor with a soft thud. The words written across the final pages seem to carve itself into my mind. The message specifically mentioned reborn, whoever had written it knew that I have been reborn. A cold feeling settled in my chest, aurora slowly looked up.“How?”“I don’t know”, my voice sounded harsher than I had intended. Aurora picked up the notebook again, “what if they are guessing”“They aren’t”I pointed to the page, “this was written after Ethan died” Aurora’s expression darkened, someone had found the notebook, written the message, then hidden it again. As if they wanted Kael to discover it, like they were playing a game. And Kael had just received the first move. “We should leave” Aurora whispered And for the first time, I agreed. Something about the room suddenly felt wrong, like invisible eyes were watching us. The room quietly returned everything to its place before leaving the dormitory. The hallways was
Heartstone Society
I stared at the note in his hand, my jaw tightened. By the time I looked back towards the shadows, the hooded figure was gone, no footsteps, no scent, nothing. As if they had never been there, Aurora moved beside me her lavender eyes fixed on the paper. “They wanted you to find this”I folded it, “obviously” The silver badge still sat heavy on my palm, the crest engraved into it gleamed beneath the moonlight, a black serpent coiled around a crown. The symbol of the Heartstone society, an organization said to have been disbanded decades ago. Yet now two students were dead, both connected, and this symbol had appeared beside the second body. This wasn’t a coincidence, it was a message, I slid the badge into my pockets. “We need to find out everything about the Heartstone society” Aurora glanced toward the professors gathering around Mira’s corpse, “and how do you plan on doing that?”I looked toward the academy tower,”the restricted archives”Aurora sighed…”again?”I smirked,
Is Lyra Dead?
I stared at the note in my hand. “Ask Adrian what happened the night you died.” The words felt heavier than iron, for a second, everything around me faded, the body hanging from the academy gates, the terrified whispers, the professors pushing students back, the blood dripping onto the stone. None of it mattered, only Adrian. I slowly lifted my gaze, Adrian stood beside me, golden eyes fixed on the corpse, his expression grim, too normal. My chest tightened, the note had been deliberate, it wasn’t just a warning, it was bait. Someone wanted me suspicious, and looking at Adrian. And the worst part? It was working.“What does it say?” Adrian asked.I folded the paper. “Nothing.”Adrian frowned. “That’s twice now.” I said nothing, Aurora stepped beside me, her eyes flickering between the two of us, she felt it too, the tension, the uncertainty, and the fracture beginning to form. I looked back at the body, the third victim, the third name crossed out, and three remaining.
Adrian, what do you do?
Rain hammered against the stone balcony, I stood frozen, the silver ring clenched tightly in his palm. The name carved inside it burned into my mind. Behind me, Adrian stood in the doorway, drenched from the storm, his golden eyes fixed on the ring. And for the first time since I had returned, Adrian looked shaken, not confused, not defensive, but afraid. My voice was cold.“Explain.”Adrian’s gaze snapped to my face.“That ring…where did you get it?”I took a slow step forward. “Answer me.” Aurora remained still between us, tension crackling so sharply I could almost taste it, Adrian’s jaw tightened.“I lost that ring.”I laughed, bitter and humorless.“Convenient.”“It’s the truth.”I held it up. “This was at the scene.”Adrian’s face paled. “That’s impossible.”My patience thinned. “Three victims are dead. Your name is in Ethan’s ledger. Your ring is here. And now someone tells me to ask you what happened the night I died.” Aurora’s head snapped toward me, that was t
Lyra isn’t Dead
For one terrible second, the world stopped, I stood frozen in the corridor, staring at Adrian, blood covered the stone floor, blood stained Adrian’s hands. And Lyra lay motionless at his feet, a blade buried in her chest. Around us, students screamed, some backed away, others stood frozen in shock. Aurora’s grip tightened around my arm.“Kael” But I was already moving, I shoved through the crowd and dropped beside Lyra, her skin was too pale, but my sharp hearing caught it, a heartbeat, it was weak and faint, but it was there. She was alive.“Move!” I barked. A professor rushed forward, then another, I yanked the blade from Lyra’s chest, ignoring the blood spilling over his hands. Aurora immediately knelt beside me, silver light bursting from her palms, healing magic, the wound began closing, but slowly. I looked up, Adrian still hadn’t moved, he looked… broken, and confused. As though he didn’t understand how he got here. Then I grabbed him by the collar.“What did you do?”
The Primordial Bloodline Awakens
The blood-red circle beneath my feet ignited. Ancient symbols blazed across the cracked archive floor like veins of fire, spreading outward in violent pulses. The heat hit instantly, Aurora stumbled back.“Kael!” My body locked, pain shot through my chest. It wasn’t physical, it was something deeper, something buried. The air around me thickened, pressing down with unbearable force. My veins burned, the symbols beneath me pulsed brighter. My name glowed at the center, not “Kael Draven,” it was something older, something that was written beneath it. Aurora’s eyes widened as she saw it, a second name, one I couldn’t understand, a language that was long dead. Then, the circle shattered, I dropped to one knee, gasping, as blood spilled from my mouth onto the floor. Aurora rushed to me, then her hands grabbed my shoulders.“Kael…look at me.” My ruby eyes flickered wildly, for a moment they glowed gold, then silver, then black, every bloodline, every power, before settling ba
The First King?
The academy shook, as stone split apart beneath their feet, students screamed as the ground cracked open through the central courtyard, ancient red light pouring from the depths below Blackthorn. The roar came again, and it was louder this time, closer. I stood motionless, crimson energy still burning around me, my veins glowed beneath my skin. The crown-shaped mark on my throat pulsed like it was alive. I could still feel Elias’s blood, even after his death. I could feel everybody’s own. Hundreds of heartbeats, hundreds of veins pumping beneath flesh, every single drop. And It felt overwhelming. Aurora grabbed my wrist.“Kael.” Her voice cut through the noise, my burning eyes flickered toward her. But her touch steadied me, it made the rage inside me quiet, it barely made an effect but it felt enough. Headmaster Alaric stepped forward, his expression grim.“Come with me. Now.” I didn’t move, because the thing beneath the academy roared again. Students started evacu
