Chapter 1
"Go home, cursed boy!!!"Lux lay on the ground, curled up, holding his head tight while the kicks kept coming. At this point, it had already become a common occurrence for him.Lux, a 16-year-old sophomore at Cloud Peak Highschool, had it tough. It all started when he turned 15. A simple cold at first. Then a series of sicknesses struck him. As he recovered from one, he fell into another. His classmates and friends began avoiding him like he was a plague.Few dared to speak to him.He became a popular target for bullies, and everyone acted like they didn't see anything. He went back home with bruises time and time again. His parents gave up on him after medical reports repeatedly said he had no physical issues.Time passed and it got worse. Today was one of those days. Except it got worse."Hey, cursed dog, get your ass up."One of the bullies dragged him up by his hair."You thought you were something awesome because you're favored by Lady Fedora, huh?"Lady Fedora — a common face at

"Where are the rest?" Ms. Fiona asked, the nervousness in her voice evident."Eh? Which others? I was ruthlessly thrown off the cliff by Trevor, Jack, and James. They dragged me out of the camp secretly, and after a serious round of beating, they threw me off the cliff. You don't expect me to have kept tabs on them while at the bottom of the cliff, right?" Lux asked in a nonchalant tone, but the anger and irritation behind his nonchalant attitude were like subtitles on his face."Umm... so you mean that they tossed you down there?" Ms. Fiona asked in a barely audible tone."Of course not... I obviously got tired of living, so I deliberately jumped off the cliff, and surprisingly, I'm happy to have survived," Lux said with a tone that reeked of sarcasm.Although Ms. Fiona had saved him a couple of times, Lux didn't have a favorable impression of her. She always seemed to back off or act like she didn't see anything when he was being bullied by people from influential backgrounds. He wa

"Welcome back, young master Davon.""Regal, where is my lord father?" Davon asked, completely ignoring the greeting."The patriarch is in his study. I will lead you to him right away," Regal replied, before gesturing for Davon to follow him."If it isn't my dear little Davon, I hardly see you these days. Ever since you decided to attend normal school for reasons best known to you, I find it very hard to see you. Just look at you, you've gotten so slim. It pains my heart," a mocking voice came from the other side of the hall."Oh, my dear big brother Trevar, seems like you're in good health. Honestly speaking, I thought that by this time, after being married into the Pitcher family, that you would've become fertilizer. Seems like they don't treat you as much as I thought," Davon said with a smile that was not a smile.Trevar's face twitched slightly upon hearing the last part."Well, my dear brother... word has it that you've set your eyes to acquire yet another valuable chess piece,"
Chapter 4
"Eh? Why is nothing happening?" Lux asked, his face an expression of total confusion, if you could look past his mask, that is. "Maybe you should try again?" Lilith said, the confusion in her tone evident. "Sure... Totem Link... Totem Link... TOTEM LINK!!! Why is it not working?" Lux, at this point, was devastated. The silence from the crowd wasn't helping. Never in his life had he faced this level of disappointment and embarrassment. "Your totem didn't even manifest," Lilith muttered in a low tone. "Are you really a totem wielder?" Lilith continued, looking at Lux with an inquisitive gaze. "How would I know? I didn't even know what totems were until I met Ms. Elenore, who said I was a totem wielder," Lux replied. Turning around, he walked down the stage. The alliance members looked at him—some with pity, some with condescending gazes, and some indifferent. "Matriarch Raizen, I have embarrassed myself. I will take my leave now," Lux said, his tone a bit shaky.
Chapter 5
"You go by?" Twilight's cold and calm voice cut through the void, forcefully dragging Lux out of his trance. "I... um... I go by Lux Orcus?" "First, I will proceed with the proposal I mentioned," looking at Lux intently to gauge his reaction, Twilight continued. "I'm part of a powerful organization and I want you to join us. You have potential, but if hidden in an underdeveloped place like this, it will never show its full potential." "You want me to join your association that I know completely nothing about. That aside... you said I have potential. It must be pretty strong, yeah... so strong that I couldn't even manifest a totem, talk more of obtaining the lowest level totem talent. Yup, super duper talented," Lux said, nodding his head continuously like an old man contemplating important issues while looking at Twilight like he was an idiot. "Who said you don't have a talent? Do you think that such mediocre tools can calculate the talent of a named totem?" "A named tot
Chapter 6
A crimson great sword appeared in Aurmir's right hand. The great sword was rusty and looked like it had been through countless battles. Twilight, on the other hand, was the same, except that his aura had changed. From the calm and reserved aura, he was emitting pressure akin to a sword ready to be unsheathed at any moment. "A different trigger phrase? A totem as an object?" Regal was stunned, his gaze focusing on Aurmir before gliding over to Twilight. "Still not unleashing your totem?" "Who said I haven't? My blade is my totem, and my totem is my blade." "That's clearly an ordinary blade, boy." "Ordinary... if a blade that can devour a totem is considered ordinary, then perhaps it is." The sudden revelation sent a chill down Regal's spine. 'This group... they must not be allowed to survive. A totem with an unconventional trigger phrase, a sword that devours totems,' Regal's thoughts were running at light speed at this point. "I'm sorry, but none of you are leaving here aliv

"And it's a Monday... my worst day of the week. It marks the beginning of my suffering and torment, and today, it marks something extra." Lux stepped out of his shower, a depressed expression on his face. His weekend was nothing like he expected it to turn out, but in the end, here he was, the last words from last night ringing in his ears like a siren. "Training starts today, huh?" he murmured. He opened his wardrobe and pulled out a well-ironed set of his school uniform. It consisted of a pair of black pants, a white shirt, and a black blazer with the school emblem on it. "On to phase one... the usual hell, and suddenly I feel like my day won't go as expected." Lux sighed, putting on his blazer in a smooth, practiced motion. "Alright, let's move." Lux muttered as he walked out of his one-bedroom apartment. The apartment was given to him by his parents after his assumed illness was feared to be contagious. Personally, Lux had no problem with the apartment. It was pretty com
Chapter 8
"Hello everyone, my name is Lucien Hestia," a calm, cold voice cut through the silence. 'No frigging way...' Lux felt a chill run down his spine because that voice was awfully familiar—so familiar because he had just heard it last night. 'No way that's Twilight.' Lux's brain went into a spiral, calculating the odds that it was really Twilight. 'I mean, we met last night. He couldn't have handled everything for the transfer in a single night, right? Unless... nah... no way bro is from that Hestia family.' Lux's brain was running on overdrive. Apparently, there was a Hestia family popular globally as a powerhouse in the business world, and it was pretty much common knowledge because immediately after his introduction, a wave of audible whispers flooded the classroom. "Hestia? Like, the Hestia?" "Oh my gosh, could he possibly be from that Hestia family?" "What in the world? First a Raizen, then a Sungate, now a Hestia? Are we having a congress of big shots in our school?" "Mr. H

The tension in the air increased drastically, a calm, knowing smile hanging on Davon's lips. 'The attack... it wasn't random. Just as I thought.' Lux had been unable to stop thinking about the attack at the docks, and for quite a number of reasons. The first was the fact that the assailant moved with purpose, like he knew exactly what he was meant to do. Lux initially thought that perhaps it was an enemy Twilight and the rest had provoked, but now he was having second thoughts about that notion. The second was how he knew exactly where they were. He couldn't have possibly followed Twilight and the rest considering how experienced they seemed to be in the Totem World. So that left just one last option. They had tailed him. And the missing piece had finally clicked into place. The man was sent by Davon. Davon probably found out about him surviving and sent the middle-aged man to finish him off, leaving the matter hidden forever. Lux was thinking of the best way to reply with
Chapter 10
"Right... I should have known. Secret organization equals secret base," Lux muttered under his breath, exhaling slightly. "Get dressed. We leave in seven. Wear something formal," Twilight said, returning his attention to the book he was reading. "Wear something grease-resistant." "And something comfortable enough to battle in," Aurmir and Danzai's voices trailed behind Lux as he went into his room. Five minutes passed in a flash. Lux walked out of his room. He wore a white shirt, black pants, and black laced shoes. "I'm all set," Lux's voice resounded through the living room. "Passable." Twilight took a glance at Lux and gave an assessment of his outfit. "Let's move," Twilight said, heading straight for the door. The squad stepped outside, where a black luxury car sat in front of the building. "Who's that?" "The driver sent by the association," Twilight answered. "Wow... I get to ride in a luxury car? A Grolls Groyce Wraith, nonetheless?" "Get used to it, bruva," Danzai s
