Chapter 1 - Jake Frost Returns
“Who the hell let this rat in?” “How dare you stain these sacred grounds by stepping foot into this hall without an invitation?” “Are you tired of living?” Chaos erupted outside the gates of Novak’s hall, one of the most dangerous places to be in all of Ashburne. A young man stood before the towering black iron gates, drenched to the bone as the relentless rain poured down around him. He wore a tailored black suit that clung to his big, athletic frame, soaking through the storm. His wet hair fell over the left side of his face, completely concealing one eye. Despite the hostility surrounding him, his handsome, oval-shaped face remained completely expressionless. This was Jake Frost. He stood rooted to the spot, his two fists clenched tightly at his sides. Tonight was a very special occasion across all of Ashburne, because today, Cassian, the youngest son of Lord Corvin, would be getting engaged to Hannah of the Wayde household. Important figures from all across Ashbourne had g
Chapter 2 - Novak’s Hall
Novak’s Hall. One of the most dangerous places to be in all of Ashbourne. Once a home belonging to Grace Frost, a woman whose laughter had once filled these walls as she raised her two children before her sudden disappearance, had now been claimed by Lord Corvin and built into a hall where all sorts of vile deeds took place. Calling it an ordinary hall would have been an insult. Built originally as a two floor story building, it had been expanded into a four story structure, with a luxurious penthouse at the top. It was known across all of Ashbourne as an exclusive spot for prostitution and pleasure. Both the rich and powerful went there to indulge in their desires and blow off some steam. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from. As long as you had the money, the doors were always open for you. Beautiful, curvaceous women from across Asia were brought in daily, ensuring that the hall was rarely ever quiet. Underground bosses who couldn’t sustain their lust for se
Chapter 3 - Whispers Of Home
Inside the hall, the party was already in full swing. Everywhere you look, servants were moving gracefully among the guests, serving wine and exotic dishes too expensive to pronounce. Laughter echoed beneath glittering chandeliers. Music played softly in the background, mixing with the pounding rain from outside, drowning out the carnage unfolding beyond the walls. At the far end of the room, the fireplace was burning intensely. With golden charcoals reserved only by powerful houses like the Briarwoods, the sight alone was breathtaking. Then everything came shattering down in an instant. BOOM! The heavy doors ripped off of its hinges, crashing down on the marble floor, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air. Every head turned towards the entrance. The music stopped. Servants froze mid step. One by one, conversation died out as hundreds of eyes remained fixed on the shattered entrance. The cloud of dust soon cleared, revealing a man standing in the shattered doorway.
Chapter 4 - Let Me Show You What A Real Punch Looks Like
Nela straightened and walked towards the towering figure, his frame five times the size of her small figure. The moment she reached him, the figure wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. The kiss went on for a few more seconds before they finally pulled away. A murmur rippled through the guests, their earlier confidence returning almost instantly. “That’s Drax, the enforcer of Novak’s hall.” One of the guests roared from where he stood. “You’re right, Lady Nela is his woman and that stranger dared to threaten her, he’s finished.” Another guest joined in. As if on cue, Nela turned and pointed a finger at Jake, her voice rising into a furious bark. “Drax, that bastard dared to disrupt Lord Cassian’s party and then threatened me. I want him dead and his body fed to the dogs.” She smiled wickedly, her lips curving into a wicked smirk. Drax was the enforcer of Novak’s hall, known all across Ashburne for his unwhelming stren
Chapter 5 - Hannah Wayde
High above the hall, in the renown penthouse of Novak’s hall, Cassian sat comfortably on an Egyptian marble chair, a smug smile playing across his lips as he took a sip from a glass of expensive scottish wine, completely oblivious to the chaos taking place downstairs. He was dressed in some of the finest clothing money could buy in Ashburne city, his brown wavy hair neatly styled and combed. Standing behind him was Elder Killian, his very own personal guard, dressed in black and white tactical gear himself–a uniform reserved only for the ten strongest martial artists in the Briarwoods. With a deep scar running down his right eye all the way down to his jaw, he looked every bit the intimidating monster Ashburne knew him to be. Opposite Cassian sat the charismatic Charlie Wayde, lord of the Wayde household, his face grim and solemn like that of a man who was on the verge of losing everything. Sitting besides him, her large blue eyes staring lifelessly at the dishes spread across th
Chapter 6 - Kill That Bastard Right Now
Downstairs, the entire hall fell deadly silent. No one spoke. No move moved. No one even dared to blink. They simply stood there, unable to comprehend what they had just witnessed. Drax Stormhold – the man once feared throughout Ashbourne for his overwhelming strength and ruthless personality – had begged for his life right before he was killed. Now he lay motionless on the floor, bowing, his head buried deep in the ground. Dead. Jake glanced at the body once before turning his attention to Nela’s trembling form. His eyes were cold and distant, like that of a man who had witnessed far worse than the carnage before him. “Where is Cassian?” he asked slowly, his voice low and commanding, echoing through the hall. Those three words snapped everyone out of their daze. Gasps erupted throughout the room. “H-he… killed Lord Drax!” “That man is a monster!” “Who the hell is he?!” Fear spread through the hall as every eye remained fixed on Jake. No one dared to move. No one dared t
Chapter 7 - The Devil Of Hell’s Pit
The hall erupted into chaos. Every guest stared at Jake in stunned disbelief, struggling to comprehend what they had just witnessed. For as long as Ashbourne was concerned, no one had ever dared lay a hand on Lord Cassian before. Because the Briarwoods ruled with an iron fist, everyone knew better than to provoke them. Yet this stranger had not only insulted Cassian Briarwood but had also struck him. Gasps erupted through the hall instantly. “He hit him…” “He actually hit Lord Cassian.” “That bastard is dead now.” “No one has ever touched Lord Cassian before.” Cassian’s face contorted into pain as he clutched his broken arm weakly. He turned to elder Killian, his voice rising into a furious roar. “KILL HIM!” he screamed, pointing at Jake with his free hand. “KILL THAT BASTARD RIGHT NOW!” Elder Killian didn’t wait to be told twice. He gave a slight bow before stepping forward. The atmosphere in the hall changed instantly. One by one, the conversations died out as every ey
Chapter 8 - The Death Of Cassian Briarwood
The silence that followed was deafening. The entire hall fell silence for five full seconds before someone finally shouted. “Impossible!” “He defeated Elder Killian!” “He killed Lord Drax, and now he’s defeated Elder Killian too!” “Just who the hell is this stranger?” Gasps rippled through the crowd like a wave. Some stumbled backwards in horror, others stood with their mouths hanging open in shock. But no one dared to move. Across the hall, Hannah and Charlie wore the same stunned expression. Neither of them could comprehend what they had just witnessed. No one had ever dared defy the Briarwoods before, not since they had taken control of northern Ashburne fifteen years ago. More importantly, both of them knew just how powerful the Briarwoods ten strongest martial artists were. Yet this stranger had not only defeated Elder Killian, the ninth ranked martial artist in the family, but had also slaughtered the Black Hand and killed Lord Drax. And he had done it single handedl
Chapter 9 - The Devil’s Return
Jake towered over the lifeless body of Cassian for what felt like hours, his expression cold and unreadable. All around him, the hall was buzzing with murmurs. Yet no one dared to move. Their hearts pounded violently in their chests as they looked at the young man standing before them, every part of them trembling. Today, they had just witnessed something utterly terrifying—a level of strength unlike anything they had ever seen. For the first time since the Briarwoods had taken over northern Ashbourne, history had been made. Not only had someone managed to take down Briarwood's elite guards, the Black Hand, they had also taken down Lord Drax and Elder Killian—one of the ten strongest martial artists in northern Ashbourne. And they had done it all alone. Now Cassian Briarwood was dead. And with his death, a new age was about to dawn upon Ashbourne. Outside, lightning flashed across the night sky, mirroring the storm brewing inside the hall. Jake took one last glance at
Chapter 10 - The Nameless Graves
Jake didn’t respond immediately. He just stood there, hands inside his pocket, his lone eye fixed on the tall man standing before him. “Elijah,” he said calmly, something Elijah would have missed if he wasn’t paying close attention. “There’s no need for that. Corvin is mine to handle alone. Tell the men to return to Open Bane and await my orders.” Elijah stiffened. “Yes, master. I will do as you have commanded.” Jake nodded. There was a brief pause before he spoke again. “And the information I asked you to find?” “Of course,” Elijah said, his tone serious. “I found out where they were buried. Their bodies were taken outside the city and buried in an abandoned churchyard. Corvin must have been in a hurry to cover up his tracks.” Jake gritted his teeth, the veins along his neck bulging. Corvin Briarwood. The man who murdered his mother and sister alongside the three others who ruled the remaining territories of Ashbourne. The men he had returned to kill. For the
