Nela straightened and walked towards the towering figure, his frame five times the size of her small figure.
The moment she reached him, the figure wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. The kiss went on for a few more seconds before they finally pulled away. A murmur rippled through the guests, their earlier confidence returning almost instantly. “That’s Drax, the enforcer of Novak’s hall.” One of the guests roared from where he stood. “You’re right, Lady Nela is his woman and that stranger dared to threaten her, he’s finished.” Another guest joined in. As if on cue, Nela turned and pointed a finger at Jake, her voice rising into a furious bark. “Drax, that bastard dared to disrupt Lord Cassian’s party and then threatened me. I want him dead and his body fed to the dogs.” She smiled wickedly, her lips curving into a wicked smirk. Drax was the enforcer of Novak’s hall, known all across Ashburne for his unwhelming strength and ruthless personality. In the past, a hundred men had tried to take over Novak’s hall, but Drax had single handedly dealt with every single one of them, leaving many so badly injured that they were never able to walk properly again. News of the incident had spread throughout Ashbourne the following morning. Since then, no one had dared to invade Novak’s Hall again. More importantly, it was no secret that Drax had pursued Lady Nela for years before she finally agreed to become his woman. And now, some stranger had not only threatened her but had dared to humiliate her in front of everyone. Drax took a slow step forward, his eyes darkening. “I will give you a chance,” he said slowly, his voice calm as though he was granting mercy. “Kneel. And apologize to her, and then perhaps, I will grant you a painless death.” His voice echoed through the hall as he finished. Drax removed the cigar from his mouth and exhaled a thick cloud of smoke before taking another slow drag. The guests reacted instantly. “As expected of Drax, he’s feeling merciful tonight.” “That stranger is really lucky.” “If I were him, I’d kneel and accept a painless death.” Murmurs spread through the hall, with many of the guests nodding in agreement. Behind him, Nela’s face twisted into a frown. She didn’t want him to grant Jake a painless death. She wanted that bastard to suffer. She wanted him to experience a slow, agonizing death for daring to humiliate her in front of everyone. Drax, meanwhile, smirked inwardly as he enjoyed the guests’ reactions. He had no intention of giving this bastard a painless death. For daring to humiliate his woman, he would make sure the bastard suffered first. He would torture him until he begged for death, and only then would he grant him the painful end he deserved. However, he couldn’t have been more wrong. Jake, who hadn’t spoken a single word since entering the hall, finally raised his head. “How about you kneel and cut off your right hand, maybe then I’ll grant you mercy.” His voice was calm. SHUSHHHH! The hall fell into stunned silence. Gasps rippled through the guests instantly. “Is he insane…” “Doesn’t he know that’s Lord Drax standing right there.” “Fucking bastard. He just threw away his only chance of dying a painless death.” “Now Lord Drax will make sure he suffers.” The guests stared at Jake as if he was already a corpse that simply hadn’t fallen yet. Some closed their eyes. Others turned away, unwilling to witness Drax’s wrath. Everyone knew what happened when Drax got angry. Things were bound to get really messy and bloody. Nela’s face twisted into a deep frown. “What are you waiting for?” she barked. “That bastard just insulted you in front of all these guests! Hurry up and give him the painful death he deserves!” Drax’s expression darkened. He tossed his cigar aside and slowly cracked his knuckles. The sound echoed through the hall, sending a shiver down the spines of everyone watching. “You bastard,” Drax growled. “I’ll make sure you beg for mercy as I tear your limbs off one by one!” Then he lunged. The ground beneath his feet cracked as he charged forward, his massive fist drawing back before he unleashed a punch that carried every ounce of strength he possessed. Many guests squeezed their eyes shut. Others covered their faces, unwilling to watch what was about to happen. Jake just stood there. Unmoving. His body perfectly still as a statue. He didn’t even flinch as Drax’s fist came within inches of his face. At the last second, he finally moved. He raised one hand and caught Drax’s punch effortlessly. BOOM! A violent burst of air erupted upon impact, blasting outward with such force that the walls behind Jake shattered instantly. The entire hall fell silent. Every guest stared in disbelief. Nela’s mouth fell open, fear flooding her body. But Drax was the most shocked of them all. His eyes widened as he stared at the hand effortlessly holding his fist. Ever since he was born, he had always possessed extraordinary strength. It was that strength that had earned him a fearsome reputation throughout Ashburne. Powerful clans had tried to recruit him in the past. But he had rejected every one of them and instead, chosen to work for Novak’s Hall, all because he wanted to court Nela. And now, he had thrown that punch with every fiber of his being. Enough to crush a truck with a single blow. Yet this man had caught it effortlessly, without even moving an inch. Just then, Jake’s voice echoed throughout the hall. “Not impressed.” The next second, he twisted Drax’s wrist, snapping the bone until it protruded through the skin. “ARGHHH!!!” Drax’s agonized scream tore through the hall, startling everyone present. They all couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. Drax Stormhold, the man whose strength was considered unrivaled across all of Ashburne, had been reduced to nothing in mere seconds. “Let me show you what a real punch looks like,” Jake said, his voice calm for a man who had just done the impossible. He clenched his right hand into a fist and raised it. Then he brought it down with crushing force. BOOM! The impact sounded nothing like an ordinary punch. It was too heavy. Too violent. Jake’s fist slammed into Drax’s jaw, crushing it instantly. His mouth hung open as blood poured from it. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t close his jaw. The next second, every tooth inside his mouth began falling onto the marble floor, one after another, scattering at the feet of the horrified guests. But Jake wasn’t done yet. He raised his fist again and brought it down a second time. BOOM! This time, the punch landed squarely on Drax’s nose, crushing it beneath the force of the blow. Jake raised his hand a third time. Then again. And again. And again. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Each punch sent another wave of horror through the hall. Drax’s screams filled the room, raw and desperate, his once-feared presence reduced to that of a helpless man trapped before a monster. By the time Jake raised his fist for the tenth punch, Drax’s face was barely recognizable. Both eyes were swollen shut. His jaw hung broken and twisted. Blood covered nearly every inch of his face. “P-please…” he begged, his words barely understandable without his teeth. “I…I was wrong… Please, have mercy…” The man who had once terrified countless people across Ashburne lowered his head before Jake, pressing his forehead against the blood stained marble floor. Hard enough to draw more blood. He no longer cared about his pride. He no longer cared that his woman was watching. He only wanted to live. Every guest in the hall stood frozen, unable to comprehend what they had just witnessed. Even Nela was no exception. She fell to her knees, her entire body trembling uncontrollably. Jake towered over Drax, his expression completely unreadable, blood dripping from his clenched fist. “You should have done that from the start,” he said slowly, his voice calm. Then his expression hardened. “But now it’s too late.” With those words, Jake drove his leg into Drax’s head with crushing force. BOOM! The impact shattered his skull and drove his head deep into the marble floor. A crack spread outward from the point of impact as blood began pooling across the floor. Nela’s eyes widened in horror as she stared at Drax’s motionless body. The man who had once been feared throughout Ashburne now lay lifeless before her. Bowing. His head buried in the floor. And dead.Latest Chapter

Seeing the condition the man was in, Jake didn’t waste any time and jumped into the van. Within seconds, he had the man brought outside, where he was now leaning against one of the tombstones Jake quickly untied the ropes binding his hands and took a moment to observe him. Gray eyes. Blonde hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He was dressed in a perfectly tailored blue suit and tie, and bleeding from what appeared to be a stab wound. The man looked to be around fifty years old. Judging from the way he was dressed, Jake could tell he came from a wealthy family. But why would someone like him be on this side of Ashbourne? “P-please, help me,” the man whispered, breaking Jake out of his thoughts. Jake got to work immediately, knowing the man would die if he didn’t do something. Squatting down, he gently placed a hand over the man’s wound. Chapter 16 - No Human Being Deserves To Die Like This
Back in northern Ashbourne, silence reigned over the Briarwood estate like a storm. The dark clouds tore open and rain poured heavily, hammering against the windowpanes and mirroring the storm brewing inside the Briarwood villa. Inside one of the luxurious rooms of the villa, Cassian lay sprawled across the king size bed, his eyes closed, his body pale as snow. Dead. His chest was caved inward, as though it had been repeatedly pummeled with a hammer. His once-handsome face was crushed beyond recognition, and his legs were bent at angles no human body should ever be. Beside him, Martha Briarwood, the matriarch of the Briarwood family knelt on the floor beside him, wailing, crying, and begging for him to wake up. Her hair was a mess from all the crying, and her makeup was completely ruined. Standing around her were Elder Kane, the fourth-ranked martial artist of the Briarwood family and her personal guard. Samuel, the head of security and a man who had served the Briarwoo
