Chapter 1
1
"You will not obtain that power!" Edgar shouted at the tall figure in front of him.
Desmon a man with deep black eyes, yet also handsome continued to gaze steadily. The aura he emitted remained the same, dangerous and gripping.
They two had been battling for a long time, causing tremors across the continent. Their powers continued to darken the sky, accompanied by flashes of purple.
As everyone watched, souls and bodies paused, momentarily baffled to assess the situation.
Now there was no need to worry, for their battle had reached its final point. Edgar here was cornered, blood flowing from various wounds he had suffered.
"Why don't you just hand over that energy and I will give you a fitting death!" He said coldly, full of confidence.
Edgar gritted his teeth so hard that his forehead creased deeply. Whatever happened, he would guard the pure energy he had held onto for so long. He had been protecting it for the last 150 years, but now, misfortune, or more precisely, the king of darkness had realized that energy was in his hands.
Desmon a creature greedy for power and strength, could not stay still. The pure energy that would make him stronger had to be acquired, no matter what.
Edgar's body had reached its limit; swinging the energy sword in his hand was a challenge. Previously, he could wield it with the grace of a melody carried by the wind.
A ringing sound echoed from Desmon's dark sword. He pointed it at Edgar with a threatening aura.
"I giving you one more warning, will you surrender that energy and die without regret, or will you let life end pitifully?"
For a moment, Edgar's heart stopped, and his pupils widened dramatically. "Heh..." It's a shame that Edgar didn't falter at all; instead, he wore a joyful smile.
"Do you think after guarding this energy for years, I would pass it to someone like you? Of course not..." His eyes squinted to emphasize the finality of his statement.
Desmon closed his eyes for a few seconds before reopening them again. "Then die right here!"
With a quick movement, Desmon shot toward Edgar. His speed was unreadable, and Edgar could only catch a faint shadow of Desmon's sword movement.
At this moment, Edgar's thoughts grew complicated. "This might be the end for me, but..."
Crash...
His hand attempted to lift the sword, to parry the attack. But it was a futile act; the attack was too powerful, leading to a tragic end.
Edgar's consciousness held on for a moment, his vision spinning. In a few seconds, he realized that he couldn't feel any part of his body anymore.
"Yes, that's how it is! It seems I've reached my limit to live! But, what else can I do? Now I hope that energy falls into the right hands, in the life to come, perhaps we can meet..."
His final words concluded his life, and slowly the once vibrant eyes lost their light.
Desmon continued to glare at Edgar's head, finding it irritating. He had expended a lot of energy just to fight him. He had also sustained some injuries that couldn't be instantly healed by regenerative energy, which was frustrating but also satisfying.
For over 500 years, he had been seeking the pure energy that would enhance his power. Now, it was finally within his grasp.
The energy still emitted light in Edgar's lifeless hand, and Desmon slowly approached it. His fingers twitched impatiently, eager to grasp the pure energy resembling pearls in a black sea.
"I will become powerful! With this, nothing will be able to defeat me..."
As he reached for the energy, the bright light suddenly dimmed. Gradually, it shrank until it disappeared completely.
"No..." Desmon immediately realized this energy was not what he sought. "Where did he hide that energy?"
Using sensing magic, he tried to locate where Edgar had hidden the pure energy. He examined every inch of Edgar's body, even tracing the path of their previous battle, which had extended for thousands of meters. The result was disappointing; he found nothing but emptiness.
"Damn..." His exclamation split the clouds, creating a straight path across the sky. Anyone who heard this cry would die. "Why can't I suddenly reach the energy, I want to? Why is this happening again..."
Hunting for pure energy had consumed Desmon's time and energy; he had even caused damage across various realms. Yet, when his journey was about to end, the energy disappeared from his sight.
Unbeknownst to Desmon, Edgar had planned for this eventuality. He had hidden the energy within a special wind source that would never cease within the world's energy cycle.
Thanks to Edgar's considerable abilities, the energy gradually diminished as it revolved around the continent, finally coming to a halt and falling to a certain location.
The wind guided the energy into a house, entering a newborn baby's basket, and the baby swallowed it.
"Waa..."
The sound of the baby's cries reverberated through the room, startling those present, then hurried to the basket.
The tiny baby shocked everyone; even its mother, who had just given birth, cried tears of amazement.
"It's a miracle!" exclaimed the midwife.
Seeing his child crying incessantly, a man named Edmon tried to lift the baby. He gently raised the baby's hand a few times to provide comfort, and it worked—the tiny baby stopped crying.
"My child, you must grow up to be a great young man!" Edmon muttered.
This small family savored a day filled with gratitude; their newborn baby had safely arrived. Little did they know the first cry echoed that day would resonate in the ears of various creatures.
Those with special abilities saw this as an unexpected surprise. A great power had returned. It didn't feel like a threat, but whether it was a blessing or a curse remained uncertain.
Nine months passed since the baby's birth, and the Edmon family was slightly taken aback by the strangeness that ensued.
Their baby had bright white pupils like glass that reflected the vastness of the sky. This frightened them; typically humans were born with normal, black-and-white pupils.
Today, a trusted and experienced healer examined Zeion, the baby with white eyes.
The healer was at a loss to explain this, continuously captivated by the warmth radiating from the baby's eyes.
"How is it?" Edmon inquired, curiosity evident in his voice.
The healer remained busy observing, cupping his chin to ensure no mistake in his assessment. Then, he turned to face Edmon. "This is a rare case; your baby likely possesses a significant amount of energy..."

Karma Chapter 34
RIELE'S POV.Blank, blank, blank.I'm devoid of thoughts, probably because I'm tired of thinking. I don't even want to think.Being here for five days, my thoughts didn't help. No matter how I tried to console myself, it won't matter, cause I'm still in jail.I'm trying incredibly hard to get used to my current situation, cause after all if you can't beat them, join them. But don't misquote me, cause that's just my brain's defense mechanism whenever I'm not seeing hope around me. That's the only way I can get used to this place without breaking out in a cry.It might seem I've given up, but there's always an ounce of hope, and when it arrives, I'll grab it, but when it doesn't, I'll just make it seem like I've given up.After all, everyone has their own ways of adapting to new surroundings, and that's mine.Sitting down with my legs crossed on my usual spot, which is on the floor, close to the bars, I looked to my left to see a girl staring daggers at me. Something she's been doing fo

Karma Chapter 33
DONALD CARTER POV.As a detective, I've never found things easy before. Every murder case is hard to crack which is the way it should be. But this Vida case comes too easy, that it alone is suspecting.Everything just seemed so connected, perfect, but suspect at the same time.Vida storming off. Vida kidnapped. Vida dead. Three things connected so perfectly, but still didn't seem right.Vida stormed off, and Riele followed. What happened between the two of them that Vida ended up kidnapped? How could Riele kidnap Vida? What did Vida really do to Riele that Riele decided such a fate for her? What's her reason? What's her purpose? It all just doesn't seem right.I only wish hope is on her side. Riele has no evidence that can at least counter one evidence against her.The message she said she was sent wasn't even found, but for some reason, I know she couldn't have lied about it.Although, it's unrealistic when she said she saw Vida alive. That would mean she's crazy, but one thing I kno

Karma Chapter 32
DEAN'S POV."Wow. So, this is the place you guys had fun." I said looking around in awe."Yeah. The place is very big. Jordan's family rented it." Dennis replied.I nodded, then looked at him. "Back to business. Did you notice anything that night after Vida left?"Dennis furrowed his brows. "What thing? I only saw Vida left, and I sure as hell didn't follow."I sighed. "Honestly, I don't even know where to start in searching for clues. This place is big." I confessed looking around again. The place is a huge land close to a beach, and I was told a really huge tent was built upon it. Jordan's family really did it this time. How am I really gonna find clues when they've completely tidied the place up?"But you must have come for a purpose. There must be something in mind." Dennis said.I looked at him and nodded. "Yeah. I wanted to know if there would be a piece of evidence that proves someone saw Riele with Jules the night Vida stormed off."Dennis chuckled. "Why not ask Jules?""Jules

Karma Chapter 31
LIZ'S POV.Nov. 10th. Tuesday. It was after school now, and all my mind could ponder on is getting to Riele's house in the hope of helping her. My curiosity kept my heart beating fast and impatiently. There are just a lot of things I wanna know. What can I possibly find out? To be honest, Jules's secret isn't the only thing I wanna know.I sighed and looked up to see we'd arrived at Riele's house."We are here," Karen stated the obvious. We walked closer to the door."Knock. Knock. Knock." Ashley knocked. We stood there without words as we patiently waited for an answer, but believe me, I'm not patient. I really wanna see the truth. Every truth that Riele carried on her head as a crown even though I know it's supposed to be hard, cause, after all, heavy is the head that wears the crown.I know it'll be hard though to deviate since the sole priority is to discover what Riele holds against Jules.Maybe if I was the only one, I'd have been able to deviate and look for other things. The d

Karma Chapter 30
3RD PERSON POV."Knock. Knock. Knock."He saw the door knob twist, then the door opened, revealing who he came to see."Mrs. Ortega." He said."Detective. You're here."The detective nodded."Come in." Mrs. Ortega opened the door widely, and he entered.Walking in, he stopped in his tracks and turned to face Mrs. Ortega. She furrowed her brows. "Aren't you gonna sit?"He shook his head. "No. I didn't come to sit. I just came to inform you of all that's going on." He told her."Is she finally going to court, so I can hire a prosecuting attorney on her?" Mrs. Ortega asked expectantly.Mr. Carter sighed. "Not yet. There are still more to follow up on. We need witnesses to prove if she's been weird since your daughter disappeared.""But she is weird. What are the odds that Riele is seeing my daughter's ghost? It is because she killed her, and is being hunted."Mr. Carter nodded. "That could help, but where it'll end her is in a psychiatric home."Mrs. Ortega shook her head disagreeably. "

A very famous lawyer, and Dean's father.Unbelievable, but I feel so lucky."I need to know all there is to know about your case, so I can defend you." He began.I nodded."Did you kill Vida Ortega?"I sighed. "I didn't.""Before coming here, I sought out all the information, and I was told about you claiming you saw Vida. Is that right?"I nodded."Do you know that could make you crazy?" He asked."But it's the truth.""You really saw her?"I nodded. "I won't lie if I didn't.""Do you have anyone to prove your statements?" Sadness overwhelmed me at the question. "No.""And there is no evidence to prove where you were on that Halloween night?"I sighed. "There is, but she lied.""You mean Jules Simmons, right?"I nodded."Why would she lie?""She doesn't like me, and I never liked her. We were actually quarreling that night." I said truthfully. He narrowed his eyes. "She hates you so much that she wou
