Chapter 5

As he reached for Rafe, green sparks leapt from his hands as a wash of heat erupted from his fingertips. Rafe saw the deadly projectile as it hurled furiously at him, but he could do little but flinch as it rocketed towards his position. The space in front of Rafe shimmered for an instant, and then a shield of protective green appeared between the fireball and Rafe.

Keida attack collided with the bright green wall, curled around the edges of the shield, and singed the area around Rafe in a circle, and that caused the ceiling to collapse around him. The goblin flailed his stubby arms as he fell, but instead of hitting the ground, he collided against the green shield with a dull thud.

Logan could barely believe my eyes. He had created the protective barrier like it had been second nature. All he had wanted to do was protect his friend from danger, but his powers responded to his feelings without any sort of conscious thought.

“I knew you could do it!” Keida said with a bounce that made it hard to be annoyed with her for trying to vaporize Rafe. “Now try to use your power to lower him to the ground.”

“Got it,” Logan said as if knew how to do just that but he focused anyway.

He continued to follow his feelings and gestured with his hand. The power in him followed and created another green wall of magic three feet below the one Rafe currently rested on. With a quick mental command, the first shield disappeared, and Rafe fell into the second.

Then he repeated the process a few more times to get his friend safely to the ground. As he fell, the goblin looked like a shriveled green Plinko chip descending the game board. Once he was on the ground, Rafe ran his stubby arms across his body as if to check and see if he was still in one piece.

“What… the… fuck?” he asked as his eyes became as wide as saucers, and he fumbled around for a smoke.

Abina chuckled from behind us. “See? Defensive powers!”

“How does a green magic shield protect against fire?” Logan asked. “Shouldn’t it be some sort of white shield or something?”

“The flame I threw isn't a hurting one. But really the color of magic depends on the on casting it." Keida.

“Wait a tick,” Rafe threw up his hands in confusion, “can goblin even get burned? Shouldn't I have like fire resistance body or something? At least that’s what all the sites I read told me.”

“Don’t believe everything you read.” Abina shrugged.

“Maybe against normal fire but against magical fire you don't have natural shield. Unless you build a shield around yourself of course ,” Keida explained.

Now Logan was intrigued. “Can I conjure up something like what you just did?”

“Your powers are derived from emotion and since you have successfully summoned us that means the Realms magic will start to bleed through you. Of course, you can summon up fire,” The elves laughed. “But it will take a different set of emotions than what you just showed protecting Rafe. Here,” she wrapped her hand over Logan's and raised it to chest level. “I want you to think about your darkest fantasies, your most passionate memories, and then snap your fingers to command the fire to you.”

. Logan closed his eyes as his mind raced back to Keida on her knees in his bedroom, nearly salivating as she marveled at his naked body. Then he remembered the first night, the one with Abina. He remembered how she had ridden him nearly raw and the sounds of pleasure that screamed out of her when they were in the throes of making love. Then he thought about how he wanted to do it all again with both of them at the same time.

This time, it felt like his skin was on fire. His hands screamed as if they were being poked at by thousands of tiny, red-hot needles as they grew warmer and warmer. Yet, he felt no pain. I could feel the heat of the fire in his palms, but it wasn’t an unpleasant sensation whatsoever. In fact, it made him feel more powerful, stronger than he had ever felt before in his entire life.

He opened his eyes and was greeted by the sight of both of his hands surrounded by a vibrant reddish-yellow fire. The flames danced off his fingertips, threatening to leap from his hands and ignite the ground in front of him. Instead, he took aim at one of the pillars of the parking garage, wound up his right arm as if he was throwing a baseball, and thrust his open hand forward. An orb of fire the size of a tennis ball ejected from his burning palm and crashed into the support. Normally, concrete wouldn’t catch fire, but the blast burning with fire magic seemed to be strong enough to set it ablaze. The pillar burned with the crimson flame for a few seconds before abruptly melting into a crude puddle of rock, steel, slag, and plaster.

As the support structure liquified, the ceiling above it started to bend. With a groan, it collapsed and sent large chunks of concrete and asphalt onto the ground below.

“Holy shit,” Logan muttered under his breath. Such power!

“Okay, I’m out!” Rafe muttered as he dodged pieces of concrete that careened toward him.

The imp scurried out of the way of the falling debris, and as he did so he vanished as if he had teleported. Logan could still hear the pitter-patter of Rafe's feet on the pavement, though, but he couldn’t see him.

“Uhhh, Rafe?” Logan asked as the two Elves and him frantically twisted our necks to try to find the small goblin.

“I’m here!” he called out, and the three of them looked up to the ceiling.

“We can’t see you,” Abina said as her mouth twisted with confusion.

“Oh. That’s cool.” Rafe's small figure suddenly appeared hanging from the roof like a spider, and then he swung down from a beam above and landed on the ground in front of them.

“What did you--” Logan started to ask, but Rafe interrupted me.

“So, apparently I can turn invisible now,” he laughed. “That’s gonna come in so handy when I’m meeting with my dealers!”

“We probably should have told you.” Keida smirked as she looked at me. “Because we are such a close-knit group, all three of us can feed off your powers. The stronger you get, the stronger our own powers become. Rafe must have just discovered his first ability.”

“It fits his personality perfectly!” The dark-haired succubus nodded.

“Now he can spy on all the women and steal all the food he wants without getting caught.”

“I. Am. So. Awesome,” the goblin said as he placed his arms behind his head.

“It’s actually Logan,” Keida pointed out.

“Does it matter?” Rafe asked sagely.

“Oh boy,” Logan laughed, but then Abina wrapped her arms around him from behind, and he could feel her large breasts pressed up against his back.

“Do you know what the best part is?” she whispered sweetly into Logan's ear. “These are your powers with just two Elves. There is much more room for them to grow! With a deeper connection to your succubi or additional members added to your harem, your power will be immeasurable. Just think about it. You could summon fireballs ten times as large as the one you hit the pillar with! You could bring forth rings of lightning as tall as the largest skyscraper in town! With a little more practice, your shields could become full-on telekinesis abilities!”

“Tell me more about growing our connection and becoming more powerful,” Logan said with anticipation.

“Remember how you summoned us, with a smear of your blood?” Keida asked. “A piece of your soul is now bonded with us, Logan. As we spend time together, enjoy each other both physically and emotionally, our connection will grow stronger. That’s why it is so important that we stick together and have as much fun as humanly possible.”

“oh he's know for that but if only!” Rafe clapped excitedly.

              “hummmm, what?” Abina asked.

"He's known for fun but if only he just does not get bore so easily!" Rafe said.

“Ohhhh,” the dark-haired beauty giggled and looked at him. “He won't be getting bored for a long long time."

“So, where do we go from here?” Rafe asked.

“Not to be a party doser, but I’m kind of starting to worry about this Lord guy you keep talking about.” Logan turned to Abina and Keida as he spoke. “We’ve been together for almost a full day now. I’m sure by this point he’s noticed that you’re missing. We need to stay here and keep training so that we can be prepared in case he comes back.”

Rafe clicked his tongue. “All work and no play makes Rafe a dull boy. You heard the sexy demon women, Logan. We’re supposed to be having fun!”

“I agree with the goblin,” Abina cooed. “We’ve had enough work for one day. Let’s go play instead.”

“What do you think, Keida ?” Logan turned to Keida, assuming that she was going to side with me on this one.

The athletic elve just shrugged. “We’ve done about all we can with the power levels you’re currently working with. The only way you’re going to get any stronger is by the three of us strengthening our connection.”

“That’s the spirit, Keida!” Rafe clapped his hands together happily. “I know just the place. Hear me out on this one. There’s this little dive bar just down the road from here. Cheap beer, amazing nachos, and a total honeypot for all the babes in this part of town. It’ll be great!”

Before any of them could even respond, Rafe took off towards the horizon and vanished a few feet into his stride.

Logan looked at the elves in confusion and shrugged. “Well, that’s far from the worst idea he’s ever had. I guess to the bar it is. Follow that goblin!”

Logan pointed in the direction their friend had disappeared, and the three of them ran down the road towards whatever Rafe had just gotten them into. It may not be blowing up shit with fire, but Logan's sure it was going to be a blast.
