"I had a deal with Dan. You are making a mistake." Hermes was at a loss, but kept his cool. The ear piece seemed to have suddenly stopped functioning and he had no way to speak with Dan directly.

There was no sense in their words, because Dan had firmly promised to help Hermes locate his mother. In return, Hermes would help him take revenge on the Bradburys for how they terrorized his childhood.

Dan was not someone who would break a person's trust in him so cheaply without a solid reason. Something must be awfully wrong, either these people were gravely misinformed or they were lying jerks themselves.

"Well, that deal is over now, sweetheart" said Tracy, a gum hanging between her lips "It ended the second you walked through that door. It means you don't trust Danny, or anyone of us at that. We can't trust you neither."
