Ep 8

Freya's POV

The journey from Brooklyn to Irving Place is quite long. After four stops, I reached the last stop, where I alighted and ran away from the crowd to the nearest alleyway.

It took me five minutes to walk before I reached Christine's place, in which I spent every minute of it in fear.

"This monster stole away my peace", I mumbled to myself, as I approached the front yard of the building.

Every shadow looked like a monster to me, and every standing tree and shrub looked like a beast to my eyes.

I tried to open the door, but failed miserably; Christine would've never changed the password to unlock the door without telling me since she knew I visited her whenever I wanted to anyway.

After trying three times, I decided to try calling her number.

Without delay, I dialed her number and it rang, five different times without her answering the call. I was confused about what was happening, it was 8:54 pm, Christine will never stay that late outside.

"Is she inside and intentionally not answering my call?", I asked myself as I walked around the house, it actually didn't seem as if anyone was at home.

Nowhere to go, of course, I can't return to that beast, no, never.

I sat uncomfortably on the front porch, waiting patiently till when she'll return, with my two eyeballs fully activated, awaiting when I'll spot any monster and escape for my life.

All of a sudden, I heard footsteps coming from behind me, turning around I saw an image of a man walking swiftly towards me.

He wore a black hoodie covering his whole head, concealing his face completely, giving him an aura of dread.

With fear, I scurried to Christine's door, knocking violently and trying to force it open, however, it didn't obey me, it was as if the door had been totally chained.

Now he's closer to me, it's obvious that he's actually coming in my direction. Each step taken by him gave me goosebumps as if there was a storm brewing within the atmosphere.

I looked around, searching desperately for help. I saw no one except myself and the stranger approaching my direction.

"He's here for me again", I bubbled fearfully in my heart. The only one I can suspect at that moment is the beast I met earlier, the monster who called himself a wolf. Perhaps he's, here again, to take me along, or here to finish me up. Whatever he wants with me, it doesn't matter anymore. I just hope he leaves me alive this time.

As he neared me, I closed my eyes with fear and hid my head between my thighs, anticipating when his claws will reach out to me, when I heard a voice says

"Sister Freya.... you're here?"

Swiftly, I raised my head, only to see Dave standing before me with his two ears plugged.

Damnit!

I felt like pouncing on him and ripping him apart, if not because he's my friend's junior brother.

"Christine?..... Sister Freya is here", he mouthed as my friend popped out from his back.

Both of them are dressed in scary black hoodies, making them resemble hitmen I watch in movies.

"Are you both mad?", That's the word that slipped out of my lips, actually, I really didn't mean it.

Dave's countenance was uttered when he heard me utter such a statement, he had never heard me swear or curse before.

Dave was still staring at me, while Christine came to where I stood and pecked my hair roughly.

"Who asked who? Don't you think I'm the one who should ask you that question?"She replied sarcastically.

"Oooh...I hope you're not thinking what I believe you're thinking. I can't let you stay here after what you did the last time you were permitted to sleep here, no way, no how ", she said as she stepped forward to open the door when I grabbed her hoodie and stopped her.

"Aren't you being too harsh on a friend? How come I can't sleep here again?...for just a night?" I pleaded with her.

She smiled bitterly as she answered, "Of course, you can, but outside here on the porch, you sat earlier, not inside", she replied as she turned to the door and unlocked it. She was about to enter with her junior brother when I slipped my foot in before his awareness. She tried to stop me from entering, too late pop!!!

I banged inside as hard as I could, startling Christine and Dave, who were just about to close the door.

"Gosh..... don't tell me you're really going to stay overnight here after betraying your one and only friend?", She yelled angrily.

One would've thought I've truly done something worse to her, meanwhile, she's annoyed with me for turning down a guy who paid her to ask me out on a date

It was like yesterday when she came up with this guy's matter. At first, I thought it was all a joke, however, not until the guy came himself to ask me out in a relationship.

Such a Narcissist, he even dared to lay a hand on my shoulder? I remember me extending my teeth to his hand that day, it was a narrow escape for his hands, I planned to chew two of his fingers off his hands.

"Was it really worth this? How much did you sell me to the guy? And how much did you give me out of it?", I asked her with a sarcastic tone.

"Don't be silly, that's the money I used to pay for your graduation diploma, you ungrateful nerd", she scolded.

Now I'm hooked and disappointed in myself. All this while I thought she spent the money on herself, now it turns out she used it for me without my awareness.

"Awnnn .... you're the best friend I've ever met Christine", I muttered jokingly as I tried to hug her but she pushed me aside angrily.

"No, I'm not your friend, until when you're no more single, Freya. Imagine you've gotten yourself a cool boyfriend now, you won't be staying here to bug me", she replied coldly.

Now I know I must do something to make her happy, or else she'll not allow me to stay overnight.

After thinking for hours, the idea popped up into my head. I crafted the plan for minutes before I spoke up.

"Christine.....I met a cool guy today. When I say a cool guy, I mean a super rich billionaire".
