CHAPTER 8

“But sir, maybe he needs some help,” the intern said slowly. He was veering around from one foot to another in nervousness. Although he was dead scared inside but seeing the way they all were accusing Gabriel, he couldn't help himself but voice out his opinion, Oblivious to the warm gaze on him.

Gabriel was tired, mentally and emotionally. And the starvation for days was also not helping him. But he was grateful that at least someone believes in him. He knows that the day, people know about him being rich, they will kiss his feet. But, this gentleman was siding with him without knowing anything about him.

“Sasha is right, he is some salesman or a delivery boy. I mean, look at his cut-price clothes,” Kyle said, wounding his feelings for Gabriel more.

“He isn't even allowed near the premises of this company, and you let him in,” Kyle turned towards the receptionist and lashed out at her.

“If you want to avoid bidding goodbye to your job today, then kick him out,” Kyle said smugly.

“Sorry, sir,” she said deferentially.

The receptionist gulped at his words and rubbed her clammy hands over her dress. She turned around and glared at Gabriel. She has been working in this company for the last ten years, and today she is being brought down by a nobody, and that too for a nobody.

It's true, nobody in the company like Kyle. He is too arrogant and self-centered to be around but, they tolerate him because he is their senior, and they didn't want to risk losing their jobs by coming in with his bad looks.

“Sir, I think you should leave,” She did not so politely request and grimaced at Gabriel. Kyle and Sasha smiled complacently.

“Excuse me,” Gabriel asked with a raised eyebrow.

“What? Now, even if you encounter some problem with hearing,”? Sasha ridiculed.

“Don't tell me your ears are defected too,” Kyle let out with an Ugly smirk.

“Please, sir, you have caused enough drama today. Just leave before I summon security,” the receptionist sluggard at him.

“No need for that,” Gabriel said.

“I'm going, but don't expect me to come back again,” Gabriel said with a tenacious look.

Kyle and Sasha burst out laughing at Gabriel's words. They started heckling him again. This panorama was so satisfactory to Kyle's heart. He always wanted to make Gabriel feel like a nonentity and humiliate him In front of everyone. And, today, he finally got the opportunity.

“Oh, sweetie, aren't you too full of yourself,”? Sasha said tauntingly.

“Why would we want a nobody like you,” Kyle said, poking his finger on Gabriel's chest.

“Guards,” The receptionist yelled.

Guards came hurrying inside the company with their heavy Rifles glued to their shoulders. They went around Gabriel and point their Rifles at him. Gabriel shook his head at them.

“I'm going,” He declared and start heading towards the exit. The guards were hot on his tail with their Rifles on his head. Gabriel felt like a robber who is caught red-handed while robbing a bank. His breath caught in his throat at the humiliation that he faced today, that too in his own company.

He went outside the company and the guards went inside. Gabriel went towards his scooter and tried turning on it, but it won't start. He tried again, but it didn't start. He checked the scooter and slouched beside it when he saw its start motor and LH Crankcase Cover is broken.

Today the sun was scorching. Sweat glistened on Gabriel's forehead. He swept it with his hand. He glanced at the sun and black dots started appearing before his eyes. The hot sun, brutally battering, and starvation for days is finally taking a toll on his body. The roads glimmered in the warmth of the meridian rays.

Gabriel gulped and attempted to stand up. He was about to fall back when someone clasped his hand and held a water bottle to his lips. Gabriel took greedy gulps from the water. He sighs in relief when the cold water hit his charring stomach.

“Are you okay,” a voice inquired.

Gabriel looked up and saw a geriatric man. He was decked in security apparel. He assumed that he was a watchman because this old man can't be a guard.

“Yes, thank you,” Gabriel said politely.

“What's your name? And what are you doing here,”? The watchman inquired.

“I'm Gabriel,”.

“Myself, John, I'm a watchman in this company,” John introduced himself.

“Thank you,” Gabriel thanked him. He was genuinely thankful for this old man. John smiled at him and made his way toward his small enclosure. Gabriel took hold of his scooter and switched it on, getting on towards nowhere.

Gabriel was walking slowly with his scooter on the road. His mind started reminiscing about everything. He still can't believe how his life changed so drastically in the short span of a few hours. He can't believe that yesterday, he slept like a nobody, but today he has millions of assets in his name. His heart tings at this moment. Sure, life is unpredictable. Gabriel has lost hope that someday anyone would find out about his truth. This heavy feeling has suffocated him that all his life he would be labeled as a murderer by his family.

He still can't believe that now he doesn't have to listen to his mother-in-law's taunted and humiliating words with each passing second. Now, he doesn't have to work like an unpaid slave and bare his wife's unfaithfulness.

Gabriel was broken when he found out about her sleeping with another man. Although she has claimed that it was only once and a mistake, it still didn't justify her deeds. Despite being married for three years, Gabriel has never touched Amelia once. She said she needed space and Gabriel respected that. Like he doesn't know that she didn't need any space. She just doesn't want him touching her.

Gabriel was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't see that truck coming towards him at full speed.

Meanwhile, in the company, a posh car stopped before the gate of the company and a gorgeous lady came out of it. Her hair was caramel, and it swung to her hips. She has mellifluous lips. She had a comely figurine that was stem-thin. Her cheeks tinted naturally pink. She carried herself In a sophisticated way. Her body language screamed confidence and elegance. She is the Vice-president of the company.

Everyone stood alert, as she walked towards the reception area. There was pin silence on the whole floor and the sound of her heels clicking on the polished marble can be heard clearly.

“Good Evening, ma'am,” the receptionist greeted politely.

“Good Evening. Why is everyone amassed near the entrance,”? She inquired.

“Nothing ma'am. We were just waiting for you,” Kyle said sweetly. There was a tint of flirtatiousness in his tone. Sasha narrowed her eyes at him, but he ignored her.

“I would really like it if you act more professional, Mr. Stoll,” She answered.

“Yes, ma'am,” Kyle said awkwardly.

“Was there anyone named, Gabriel Sigmund here,”? She inquired from the receptionist.

“Wait for a second, ma'am. I'll check,” the receptionist said politely and rushed towards her counter and started going through today's appointments. Meanwhile, everyone hurried toward their cabins except Kyle and Sasha.

“No ma'am. There is no one name, Gabriel Sigmund today,” the receptionist answered. The Vice-president's eyebrows scrunched in confusion. She was notified that the new boss would join today, but here the receptionist said that there has been no one on this name.

Kyle's eyes went-wide, wide when he heard the name flee her mouth. He doesn't understand what's her relationship with Gabriel, but he knew that he would be in trouble if she got to know what he has done. His heart started jackhammering. His shoulder tensed in hysteria. The Vice-president noticed his weird behavior and went toward him.

“Do you anyone by the name, of Gabriel Sigmund,”? She inquired.

“N-no… Ye-yes… I mean,” Kyle stammered. The Vice-president raised her eyebrows at him and hummed precipitously.

“My classmate's surname is Sigmund but, I'm uncertain if he is the same Sigmund you are looking for,” Kyle replied.

“Yes ma'am, his classmate is shoddy and a robber,” Sasha said, adding spice to the situation.

The Vice-president was about to say something when a voice cut her off.

“I'm Gabriel Sigmund,”.
