Chapter 4847
Author: Lord Leaf
Charlie said, “I once heard my father’s old subordinate saying that back then when my parents died, they were besieged by a group of dead soldiers. After they succeeded, all of them bit the poison in their mouths and died on the spot. The method they used is the same as that of the group of dead soldiers that we met at the stadium. Although there is a span of twenty years between the two incidents, considering the fact that the other party is an organization that has lasted for hundreds of years

Pat shook his head. "Things don't look good, Sir. It's growing very rapidly—the CA199 count is positively skyrocketing, considering that it's just been three months."Hank wiped the sweat off his brow as he asked, "Well, what's the plan for treatment?""That's why I'm here," Pat replied. "To tell you that the sooner we operate to remove your pancreas, the better.""Remove it?!" Hank blurted. "How long am I expected to survive after that? Five years?" "There's no telling," Pat sighed, shaking his head. "In this day and age, pancreatic cancer is the most unpredictable—the cells grow rapidly with lethal precision, and even if removed, there's a good chance they have already metastasized elsewhere." "The only sure thing is that regardless of early detection, only ten percent of pancreatic cancer patients survive the next five years… And as of yet, none have survived up to ten years."Pausing, Pat then finished, "If I had to put it this way… They are like Germany in World War Two."

  • Chapter 7154

When Hank showed the CA199 result, the cabal finally realized that Charlie really did possess some sort of unseen power that could determine a person's fate.Hank was horrified, too, hurriedly signing the consent forms for a contrast agent before being rushed into the CT scan room. As the gigantic machinery whirled, rumbled, and beeped loudly, his heart raced in panic all the more.In the past, he had found comfort in such sounds—it was the power of money and technology, bringing about advanced medical equipment to keep him healthy. But now, those same objects left him panicked and horrified. After all, he had to be inside a small hole while he was scanned from head to toe—twice, and the longer it lasted, the more tormenting it was.Just as he thought he was about to suffocate, the machine finally stopped whirling, and he was pulled out.The lead door also opened as Greg and several nurses swiftly moved him to a stretcher, sending him back to his VIP ward.Along the way, he co

On the other hand, if Hank's health failed, Greg would basically be fired, as he was more or less a health consultant to Hank. And should Hank be admitted to a specialist hospital, there wasn't much he could do either.Hence, even as Hank remained in a good mood a moment ago, he was suddenly dying inside as he fumbled for his phone, stammering, "Houston… We have a problem."Andrew was the first to laugh. "Oh, congratulations, Hank! We've been waiting the whole night for this one… So, what's the anomaly here?Hank really wasn't in the mood for jokes and snapped at Andrew right then, "Shut up! Are you trying to jinx me?!"Andrew was left aggrieved. "But you're the one who said that there was something wrong! Why would you snap at me like that?"Hank bellowed furiously, nonetheless, "I'd rather be normal with just minor anomalies and definitely not pancreatic cancer! As it turns out, my CA199 count is several dozen times above normal, and the doctor said that pancreatic cancer is th

Greg pursed his lips in discomfort.Did Hank just happen to have a few screws loose today? Is that why he was looking forward to being sick?Considering what Hank had just said, he began, "Sir, I must apologize that I've actually noticed a fresh perspective thanks to what you just said. If anything, I think it kind of makes sense as there may be phenomena that can never be explained by science—metaphysics, as one would put it."Hank nodded in agreement. "That's the case for the world itself—everyone only sees what they each want to see, remaining ignorant of that which they have not seen before."Pausing, he then waved him off, saying, "Let's put that aside for the moment and get down to business… So, what was the issue you've found?"Greg quickly said, "Your CA199 levels are a bit high…"Hank remained excited as he asked, "How is that relevant? What does it have to do with erectile issues? I'm really not getting it up lately—does that figure have something to do with that?""Er

Greg grinned and nodded. "You got that right—Hank has been hoping to have some symptoms detected, and it's almost as though it worries him more if there's nothing.""Goddamn…" Pat adjusted his glasses as he asked, "I mean, that's fine… But he's not going to like his CA199 levels freaking out, is he?"Greg's smile stiffened on his face, and it took him a while to come to his senses. "His CA199 levels are freaking out? Are you kidding?"Being Hank's personal doctor, Greg knew everything about Hank's health. But the CA199 protein was used as a tumor marker, primarily for monitoring pancreatic cancer along with other GI tract cancers. While there were a variety of tumor markers for different parts of the body, it was a consistent rule that all tumor markers would always stay under normal levels—unless cancer cells were growing. If it rose beyond the normal ranges, that meant that there was a good chance of cancer. While there were always the isolated cases of false positives, the tum

Other results were soon brought to Hank in his room, but strangely, nothing was found, whether it was for toxins, heavy metals, or even radioactive substances.Any normal person would be smiling with such a clean bill of health, but Hank wasn't.If anything, he wasn't as calm as he was at first.Bemused, Greg asked, "Sir, there's nothing, and you're clearly fine… so can I just ask, why the long face?"Hank remained seething—he couldn't just say that he was hoping for an anomaly that could be linked to his impotence, could he?As such, he instead said, "I visited Oskia recently, and they seem to think that people live a little longer if they have little things that ail the body. It's those who didn't and always seemed perfectly healthy that would die instantly… don't you think so?""Well…" Greg hesitated for a while, and then smiled as he said, "I can't say I fully agree with that? If anything, it looks like survivorship bias to me. It's never the little ailments that keep the p

More like loosing money for no reason now

Just like you are entitled to your thoughts and others are too. Mind your business and let people share how they feel after spending their money and time on this. We simply want more for the author who we know is capable of great things. That’s what the comments sections is used for. Thanks!!!

Is this a rush chapter to get back in our good graces? Sure don’t look like much to me. To think after 6+ months that’s the best you can do will really help us move on from this story quick.

At least this part gets more interesting, we get to learn more about the undead and it’s structure, the New York excursion is almost over and we’re getting ready to go back across the pond.

Those never ending complainers should simply STOP reading.

By the end of the day, this comment section will have more in it than what is offered to read each day, what a joke. The author and the book app should be ashamed of themselves for treating us who pay money, we’ve invested so much, I want a refund if I can’t get more than this!

it is indeed bloody bullshit.. why not publish the whole story in its complete form so that the readers interest is sustained throughout... I'm seriously thinking of exiting this Novel Chanel when I complete this story and would never again resubscribe...

Bullshit bullshit and more bullshit

This is like never ending story
