Chapter 5.

That evening, Emily had to visit her parents house because of the way her mother, Ava had suddenly left in a call. The woman was a dramatic woman, Emily knew that well.

Still, the woman was her mother. She needed to just go visit to see they were alright. And since her husband hadn't been home yet, she decided to head out. Soon enough, she arrived at the home of the Wilsons, where she had lived just a couple of years back.

The compound and entire building had been nicely constructed... Money was involved in the amazing work of construction. The Wilson household held so much exquisite luxury because Ava Wilson was an exquisite luxury woman herself!

Conor was at the doorstep to unlock the door for Emily, and the moment he saw it was her, his eyes flashed bright. "Welcome sister," said Conor, Emily's older brother by three years... Same age as Brad. His dark fringe curled neatly beneath his forehead, a little bit messy but not enough to ruin his handsome face.

Everyone said he got his good looks from his mother, since Ava was an astonishing goddess, and even Emily couldn't deny it!

She too had taken her mother's long black and silly hair and brown magnificent eyes, and so did Conor.

"Cut the crap, Con." Emily frowned as she stomped in, barging straight to her mother's room as she saw no traces of her in the living room. Neither had her father been there. Perhaps it had only been Conor because the TV was turned on.

Conor only sighed and continued with his television program. Just after a few seconds, he decided he needed to be part of whatever discussion they would be having at his mother's room, and so, he too hurried to join them.

Luckily for him, he hadn't missed much.

"...was so not necessary mother!"

He heard his sister's voice flare up as he arrived at the doorstep, then carefully taking one step in, with arms folded, he went ahead and sat beside his mother on her mighty bed. His father was seated next to his mother as well.

Conor cleared his throat. "Uh, sister, shouldn't you join us as well? The bed is wide enough for us all." He proposed but got no reply from his little sister. "Whatever, suit yourself." His hands were up in the air signaling the defeat gesture.

"Conor, this isn't right. You know it too. Why would mother dare ask me to give up on my love, and marry old man Jed!" Complained Emily, who was starting to grow furious already.

Her mother had called, stating that there was an urgent matter to attend to, and Emily had hurried down to hear what it was. Only for her mother to tell her that she must divorce Brad and abort her child, then marry Jed Griffith.

"Father, won't you say anything??" She flared up as she saw Conor replying with total silence. Same with her father, Noah.

Normally, Noah would never support her. As long as Ava was present, he would never ever dare oppose her wishes and words. She knew that much. Then there was Conor who was nearly too loyal to Ava and would do anything she asked of him. How annoying to have been born into a family of such!

She drew in a deep sigh. "And if I refuse?"

There we suddenly an eerie silence in the air except for the whispering wind that gushed in through the window.

Noah was a man in his late forties, though he didn't look like that. One would think he was in his near sixties! And then there was Ava who was three years older than Noah! Yet, she would pass for a twin sister of Emily.

Ava finally said, and they all listened. "I am your mother, and I only want the best for you." She said in a compelling tone, though that was the way she normally spoke each time she tried to act sweet and kind. Then she dropped the bomb.

"See, our family is going through...a mess right now." Confessed Ava.

Emily's brows arched up. "A mess?"

"Yes. We're near the brink of bankruptcy I'm afraid--"

"--I don't believe you. You would do anything to say right now just so I ca--"

"Will you listen to me, Emily!" Ava yelled out, a bit more louder than she'd anticipated. Then she sighed and rose up to meet her daughter. She was on a long robe that revealed her nice curves. "We truly are. Otherwise, I really would not care any less if you marry a gorilla or a chimpanzee--"

"--or Brad." Frowned Emily.

"Yes yes, whatever. But now, I do care because we are in grave danger, Emily. You have to help us. You really do not want me to have to report to grandma, or do you wish for that to happen?" She said slowly, caressing her daughter's hair gently.

Emily was firm on a position but she feared her heart would escape right out her chest. Not grandmother... Never grandmother!

"You have to be considerate mother--"

"No, you have to be considerate! You will marry Jed and that's final!"

The next morning Ava had suddenly received a call from her mother. And the woman had given her an order to give to her family. She had as well phoned the rest of her children as well, Ava's twin siblings.

"All of you, gather around!" Ava yelled out, waking up the rest of the household, Conor and Noah. "I have just received a call from mother, and you will not believe what she said,"

Though their faces still looked dull and sleepy, they had to pretend they had actually been interested in what she had to say. And maybe it would not be so difficult to do so since they had partially wanted to find out what grandma had to say!

"What is it, honey?" Asked Noah to his wife.

"Yea mom, what is it?" Conor asked as well.

Ava drew in a deep sigh and eyed both faces that were now staring at her with enthusiasm. "Grandma just announced right now that there's been a bidding in this big company, and whoever can win this bid will get to be the family's CEO!"

A loud--no, two loud gasps accompanied the woman's announcement.
