CHAPTER 7

The next day, Alexander is now packing his things up in his sling bag as he will be embarking on a new journey. His mother was helping him pack up as they have this little conversation. Helen described the God she fell in love with as the kindest but also the cruelest among the Olympians. The God of the underworld is a caring person and have his own amazing temper control. He is quite known for his calm nature, but when he bursts, then he is ugly when angry. He once sent hundreds of corpses and let it float at the seas as revenge for the thing his brother did to his wife, Persephone. After packing, Alexander heads down to the front door as he, his mother and grandmother are now saying their temporary goodbyes.

“Remember this, Alex. They are deceitful, gods. They will do anything just to persuade you to do their bidding. Gods are dangerous, trust your senses and be safe.” Says the grandmother as she them hugged her grandson.

Helen then approached his son next and then hugged him,

“Be strong, son. You will face many great challenges; the life of a demigod is not easy. Just make sure you’re safe, okay. I love you, Alex, be safe.” Helen smiled as tears trickled down her face.

She will be protected by Alex’s father, but he will make sure to come back once he has the time. As the farewells has now been said, Alexander then went on his way to the docks to go to Delos where he is supposed to meet someone. He then went on in this crazy journey as a demigod.

After hours of walking, he finally reached the docks. He stood near the water as he looked for some boat or anything that would help him reach Delos. But as he was about to dip his face into the water to refresh himself, a voice spoke to him,

Don’t put yourself in the water just yet. Offer something for my brother so you won’t be dragged down into the depth and die.” Says a man’s voice who is definitely his father.

Alexander sighed as he then grabbed 2 chunks of meat from his bag and then a loaf of bread. He went into a corner of the docks where no one can see him and there he created a fire and then burned the offerings for the God of the sea,

To the almighty Poseidon. Thou shall let me pass through your domain so I can reach Delos safely. Accept this gift of mine as a simple offering for the mighty earthshaker.” Alexander whispered as he then placed the offering in the fire and burned it.

He does not know whether Poseidon just accepted his offering, but he needs to go now before dark. Alexander then found a cabin where they sell boats and dingy. But since he has no money, Alexander chose to build his own both. However, as he cuts some trees to do it, a pouch of drachmas then appeared from out of nowhere. And Alexander felt embarrassed to not remember that his father is also the God of riches, which means Alexander is basically rich. He grabbed the pouch and then proceeded to buy a small boat that would take him to Delos. He also bought a map and a compass to show him the way since Poseidon won’t just help him navigate. The storekeeper brough the boat to the water as Alexander then rode on it. He grabbed the paddles and then went off to a water adventure. It only took him a few minutes to get further away from the shores of the kingdom he lives in. It will be a while before he comes back, but he knows that it will all be worth it as he will be able to live the life he dreams of after this crazy demigod adventure. He stopped momentarily to look at the map. According to it, Delos is still 50 nautical miles away. So, instead of resting, Alexander went on his way. But as he reached the halfway point, he suddenly entered this thick mist, and he can’t see a thing anymore. He looked down the water to see that it suddenly turned black. Alexander cursed as he can’t possibly fight in the middle of the sea. And then, something emerges from the depths of the sea. Alexander looked at it as he now saw the first hurdle, he has to go through just to reach Greece. It was this ginormous sea serpent. He does not know whether Poseidon sent it himself, but he sure knows that if does not do anything, he will be a goner. Alexander tried to think and come up with something, but as if thinks, the serpent charged at him and destroyed his boat completely. Luckily, Alexander managed to jump on the serpent with only a single paddle in his hand. The serpent began to shake Alexander off, but as it notices that Alexander is holding tightly, it immediately submerged underwater and brought Alexander down to the depths. Alexander decided to let go, but if he lets go, the serpent will have a chance to eat hi. In any case, he will die either way so there is no point in thinking. Such a tremendous start for his journey, he will die immediately right after he just departed. What a joke this is. But as he loses his breath, he then heard something

“*Sigh* Since you gave me offering and because you are currently an important piece, I will save you this one time.” Says a voice.

And then, water spears began to pierce through the serpent’s body as it quickly died because of it. Alexander, who was still so deep down the water, was then lifted into the surface by this large geyser-like thing. He was so high up that the God of seas forgot the landing. So, even though he was basically saved, Alexander landed on the water so hard that he passed out.

You can’t! We need to work together!”

Oh, shut up! I am the leader, so follow my lead.”

“You’ll get us killed—”

And then Alexander woke up with a start. He started to cough up water as he then realized that he was now at land and was lying chest down on rocks. He sat up straight as he was confused on that weird dream. In the dream, he was in this battlefield-like place and there are 12 people arguing. But what confuses him the most is the fact that he managed to drift into the shores of an unknown land alive. He stood up as he immediately felt the injury, he sustained last night. Alexander then roamed around the shores while limping until he saw fishermen. The men and women stood up and then puts their guards up as they were afraid,

Poios eísai!?" Asked a man. And Alexander was again confused by the fact that this man just spoke some foreign language and he understood it like it was his own.

Demigods have the ability to speak and understand Greek since we gods are from Greece ourselves. Consider it as one of our gifts.” Says Hades as Alexander now knew that he was now in Greece.

He raised his hands in submission as he is now showing the people that he meant no harm,

“I am looking for something.” Alexander said in Greek as they understood what he just said.

A big chunky man then approached Alexander and asked him if he was okay. The man then willingly brought Alexander to his house to treat his injuries. He bombarded Alexander with questions as Alexander answered it one at a time while being treated by the man’s wife,

“I’m from another country. And my purpose here in Delos is to find the temple of Apollo.” Alexander says as the couple looked at him in disbelief.

A kid then entered the stone house as the mother then left with her child,

“The temple of the God Apollo, huh? I can show you the way, but let me warn you, that place is being avoided for a reason. And I think you may not want to know.” Says the man as Alexander asked what it as he really wants to know.

The man sighed as he then crouched in front of Alexander,

“Because that temple is abandoned. And is currently being used by his daughter.”
