As soon as Julian pressed the accept mark on his wrist communicator, everything around him went totally dark, and he felt a force that is pulling him forward; he tried to stop and resist, but there was no use; that situation lasted for almost 2 minutes, he felt desperate during that period and thought the worst scenario possible, of course, that his life is over, though still, he didn't regret it; on the contrary, he was smiling, and he let go of his body; wherever they are taking him, let it be, he told himself; at least my mother will rest for a bit, from the hell called life the she is living.

His only regret was that he couldn't even last for more than a few minutes in this experiment. He was aware that it had already begun; he felt like he was daying at certain moments. A sudden weakness in his whole body, numbness and tingling from head to toe, in a second and the next like something is tearing his limits apart, and needles stuck in his brain—all that lasted for almost 3 whole minutes, the longest minutes with pain in his whole life; he wished it to stop by any means, but he was unable to scream or move a single finger or part of his body. Even though he regretted accepting this offer, at the same time, it wasn't greed that pushed him, to do it but the need was what motivated him. People do worse things than what he has done for money, so it wasn't that strange for a fourteen-year-old boy to do it first for himself and his mother.

When the 3 minutes ended, while still feeling disoriented, he started feeling his legs at the beginning, that he was standing on hard ground, not like a few seconds ago, then gradually started to feel the rest of his body, and finally he was able to open his eyes, but what he saw scared him totally. The unexpected view in front of him was a totally strange one, and he had to open and close his eyes a few times to believe that what he was seeing was real and not a dream, although he used to see something that was not there, not only at night but also during the daytime sometimes; he felt like a chill run over all of his body; he was shaking, and he couldn't tell if it was from being scared or there was something else in the weather.

To his surprise, he saw in front of his eyes a screen with strange information. The only thing he understood was his name and his age, which indicates that what he was seeing was about him, but what it was about he had no idea. He stood at his place for a few more minutes, the screen was still there, he read it several times, but nothing changed, and what about this last sentence saying mission: Survive? Was that the experiment he signed up for? There was no one to answer him or give him more instructions; the only thing he has to do is survive for twenty-four hours. Not knowing any other details was a strange thing, but that strange thing was happening to him now. Although he used to be the strange one who had nightmares, this was a different new nightmare that he had to endure the same way he endured the nightmares all the time.

When he tried to move, he felt that he couldn't even control his legs and was much weaker than he used to be, much, .... much weaker. To begin with, he was weaker than any of his peers, being unable to sleep like them or eat like them; he was shorter than anyone his age and thinner; his height was 140 centimeters (4 feet, 7 inches); the twelve-year-old in his neighborhood was even taller than him; and he weighed 40 kilograms (88 pounds). The only part of his body he was able to move was his eyes, but he couldn't see everything around him that way, so he had to wait a few minutes more, and then slowly he started to feel the rest of his body, and the pain he was feeling also subsided slowly, and he started to feel normal once again. A total of almost five minutes was the duration of all of those things happening to him.

Finally, he lifted his hand, trying to touch the screen in front of him, but his hand couldn't touch it because it wasn't touchable, simply not solid enough for him to touch it. But by trying to wave his hand left and right, he was able to turn it on and off, which made him wonder how he was able to control it. He contemplated the issue for a little while then decided to leave it and move forward. Since there were no instructions for where to go or what to do, he just had to move forward, and wherever that road takes him, he will figure things out. At that time, he noticed a backpack under a tree a few feet in front of him, and he went straight for it. There wasn't much in the bag except for a dozen food bars and drinking water. He found a small knife and a torch, a small blanket, and a small pouch. When he opened it, he found a few oddly shaped crystals that he didn't know what they were for. Putting everything back in the backpack, he lifted it to his shoulder and started marching forward.

He looked at his wrist communicator and typed a short message to his mother saying "Mother I have arrived at the experiment location there is no danger at all so don't worry, I will talk to later". As soon as he finished typing the message, he felt a scary aura coming from behind him. When he looked around, there was nothing visible to him; he couldn't see anything except trees everywhere, and nothing was there as far as his sight could reach. Still, he felt something dangerous was coming behind him and getting closer, something that will catch up to him if he stays in this place. His instinct told him to run and run as fast as he can.
