The heavy mahogany doors of the penthouse lounge seemed to absorb the low hum of the rain outside, leaving a stifling silence in the room.

"What is it?" Leo asked, his hoarse voice cutting through the quiet. His throat burned, a raw remnant of his desperate sprint up the concrete stairwell. His knuckles were still white, stained with grease and oil that no amount of rain could wash away.

Butler Thomas didn't hand over a contract, nor did he present a grand ultimatum. Instead, a slow, knowing smile spread across the old man’s weathered face, softening the sharp, intimidating lines carved by decades of absolute authority within the Apex Association.

"Lets just say you already fulfill the major part..." Thomas said smoothly, his dark eyes filled with quiet, undeniable approval. "By standing here, surviving ten years in the dark without breaking, and keeping your iron will intact... the trial is satisfied."

Thomas stepped around the massive mahogany conference table, his polished shoes making no sound against the dark Italian marble. His sharp gaze swept over Leo’s soaked canvas jacket, his mud-splattered jeans, and the dark, filthy puddle forming around his worn, squeaking work boots.

"But before then," Thomas continued gently, eyeing the dark grease stains smeared across Leo's sleeves, "you should change..."

Leo looked down at himself, his brow furrowing in immediate, sharp confusion. "I don't have any cloths."

Thomas tilted his head slightly, his tone dry and effortless. "Who said you needed any?"

Leo stared at the old butler in utter disbelief, his eyes widening. "M I going to stand naked?"

"Of course not," Thomas said, a faint, dry glint touching his eyes.

He turned slightly toward one of the broad-shouldered men in tailored dark suits standing silently near the private express elevator doors.

"Take him," Thomas said, gesturing toward the heavy double doors leading into the penthouse's private interior suite. "And get him ready."

The guard bowed respectfully from the waist, stepping forward and extending a gloved hand. "This way, Young Master Vance."

Leo didn't resist. His body was exhausted, every muscle aching from years of hauling heavy crates through freezing rain for pocket change. He followed the guard through the double doors and into a vast, warm private room tucked deep inside the penthouse suite.

Inside, the harsh chill of the night evaporated. An elite team of four tailors in immaculate gray waistcoats stood waiting in complete silence. Laid out across polished velvet tables were hand-stitched fabrics, custom leather shoes, brushed-gold cuff links bearing the ancient Vance crest, and precision grooming tools.

"Young Master," the head tailor murmured, bowing low without raising his eyes.

As the tailors moved in with practiced, silent efficiency, Leo sat on the edge of a deep velvet seat. He let them pull off his wet, heavy boots and strip away the frayed canvas jacket that had been his only shield against the city cold for three winters.

Sitting there in the warm room, his mind raced, struggling to process the chaotic blur of the last few hours. He couldn't really understand what was happening fully.

This was all happening in the middle of the night.

Just a short while ago, he was sitting in a dingy, dimly lit diner with Drew, staring at a cold burger he could barely afford and looking at a cracked phone screen that claimed he was worth billions. Then, he had just been chased through a rain-drenched stairwell by armed security guards, treated like a common thief for something he didn't do. Now, mere minutes later, he was standing in the middle of a private penthouse party of the global elite.

*Where is this place?* Leo thought, his heart pounding a steady, heavy rhythm against his ribs. *Why did they do it in the middle of the night? And what was he going to do to gain access? He needed to know everything.*

He looked down at his calloused hands while two men worked in total silence beside him. The black engine oil embedded deep beneath his fingernails—oil earned from ten years of backbreaking, unthanked labor—was meticulously scrubbed away with warm scented oils.

The frayed, foul-smelling clothes were cast aside into a corner, replaced by a crisp, white silk shirt that felt weightless against his skin. They slid his arms into a razor-sharp, custom-fitted midnight-blue tuxedo tailored perfectly to his lean, broad-shouldered frame.

They fitted brushed-gold cuff links into his sleeves, the cold metal heavy against his wrists, and slid a heavy, unbranded platinum timepiece onto his left arm. One tailor carefully styled his dark, wet hair back, while another shaven his jaw clean of rough stubble.

When they stepped back and bowed, Leo looked down at the immaculate fabric clinging to his shoulders. The physical weight of his past ten years hadn't disappeared, but the outer shell of the gutter had been stripped away.

After dressing, Leo turned and walked back out into the main penthouse lounge.

The rain-soaked, filthy delivery driver was gone. In his place stood a man in a razor-sharp tuxedo that highlighted his tall, commanding stature. His dark eyes held the cold, hardened edge of a man who had bled in the dirt, now wrapped in the unmistakable elegance of supreme power.

The six regional directors, who had been speaking in hushed, guarded whispers with Senior Analyst Victoria around the projection table, stopped talking the very second he stepped back into the room.

The room fell into a dead, breathtaking silence. Every eye locked onto him.

For the first time in ten long years, Leo Vance didn't look like an outcast begging for shifts in the cold rain. He looked like the true, undisputed bloodline of the Vance Family Apex Trust.

Leo walked back into the room, his leather shoes clicking quietly against the dark marble as he adjusted his heavy gold cuffs.

He took a breath, ready to press Thomas on where they were and what the next move was, but he hadn't even said anything when Butler Thomas raised his left arm and checked the face of his vintage pocket watch.

The old man closed the gold casing with a sharp *snap*, the sound ringing out like a gavel. He looked up at Leo with absolute, unyielding reverence.

"It is time," Thomas said.

Upon those three words, all six regional directors and Senior Analyst Victoria got up as one, pushing back their heavy leather chairs and bowing deeply toward Leo.

Leo stood still in the center of the room, his eyes scanning the bowing figures in the dim, golden light of the penthouse. A heavy sense of wonder and uncertainty settled over him as he wondered what was going to happen now.

"I am not a criminal," Leo said, his voice flat and unbothered. "And if you keep going at this, I would have no choice but to—" "Do what?" Clara interrupted, taking a sharp step forward with a sneer under the sickly amber glow of the overhead hallway light. "Leo, you are just a thief! You know what? Maybe I should call the police and see what they have to say about you stealing!" She dragged out her words to stress the point, thrusting her phone aggressively toward his chest. Leo looked at her—and then started laughing. It wasn't a loud, boisterous laugh, but a low, rich sound of absolute amusement that echoed off the peeling wallpaper of the tiny hallway. Clara, who had been frantically tapping her phone screen to make the call, froze mid-motion. Her thumb hovered over the glass. "You think this is funny, right? You steal and then laugh about your own disgrace? Leo, remind me why I left you again, because the reasons just keep piling up!" "Give me my card back," Leo said. Clar

The yellow city taxi pulled up to the curb near the worn brick apartment complex Leo had called home for the past five years. Water from a recent downpour still glistened in the shallow potholes lining the narrow street, reflecting the sickly amber glow of a flickering streetlight overhead. Leo paid the driver with crisp cash from his pocket, stepped out onto the cracked pavement, and smoothed the front of his midnight-blue tuxedo. The fabric was immaculate, custom-woven from ultra-fine Italian wool that absorbed the dim street light around him. For five long years, he had walked down this alleyway in a mud-splattered delivery windbreaker, carrying lukewarm takeout boxes and heavy corporate parcels for pennies on the dollar. Tonight, the heavy silence of the alley felt different—not because the neighborhood had changed, but because the man standing in it was no longer bound by the chains of the Vance Sovereign Trial. As he turned toward the narrow iron gate leading into the cour

The grand lobby of Vance Tower fell into a suffocating, unnatural silence. Sunlight filtered through the sixty-foot glass facade, illuminating the pristine marble floor, but the atmosphere felt as heavy as lead. Evelyn stood inches from Leo, her manicured finger trembling in his face, her chest heaving as she waited for the heavy hand of security to slam onto his shoulder. "Well?!" she shrieked, turning her head toward the two senior building guards who had hurried over from the main desk. "What are you two standing there for?! Grab him! He's a trespasser! He broke into the upper VIP dressing suites and stole that tuxedo!" The two security guards—seasoned veterans wearing sharp obsidian-grey uniforms—did not move. Their eyes had already traveled down from Leo’s unbothered, commanding gaze to the immaculate cut of his midnight-blue suit. They knew luxury, but more importantly, they knew Vance Tower protocol. The hand-stitched silk lapels bore a micro-embroidered silver crest so su

The heavy midnight assembly inside the penthouse lounge did not break apart immediately after the six regional directors bowed. As the brutal thunderstorm outside slowly spent its fury against the glass, the high-altitude sanctuary shifted into an exclusive, low-key gathering of the shadow syndicate’s core elite. Throughout the remaining dark hours, crystal glasses clinked softly against the backdrop of sweeping, rain-slicked city views. One by one, regional directors moved in silent rotation around Leo, offering understated nods of deference while quietly observing the young man who had survived ten years in the gutter. Leo stood near the massive floor-to-ceiling glass wall, sipping cold spring water from a crystal tumbler. His mind worked continuously to reconcile the stark, surreal contrast between his reality just hours ago—shivering in freezing rain, clutching a broken phone screen—and the quiet, unfathomable opulence surrounding him now. His hands, though scrubbed clean of en

The brushed-gold elevator doors slid open. Butler Thomas stepped out, his spine straight, his posture immaculate. The moment his polished leather shoes touched the dark Italian marble, Senior Analyst Victoria and the six regional executives around the table stood as one. In unison, they bowed their heads, breaking into a slow, measured applause that echoed against the glass walls. Leo stood frozen in his rain-soaked canvas jacket. Water dripped steadily from his elbows onto the pristine floor, forming a dirty puddle around his scuffed, grease-stained work boots. His chest still heaved from sprinting up the stairwell, his throat burning with cold air. "Young Master Vance," Butler Thomas said, stopping three paces away and bowing deeply from the waist. "Welcome home." Leo didn't clap. He didn't bow. His eyes darted with guarded intensity between the bowing executives and the old man in front of him. "What home?" Leo asked, his voice sharp and hoarse. "Are you... are you the
