Chapter 6.

Pov. Results

Present day.

Kadran;

The usual morning alarm sounds rang loudly in the female dormitory and the familiar voice of Master Yedder blasted through an overhead speaker.

“Attention trainees, the results from yesterday morning are out, go to the notice board to check if you've passed. If you haven't, leave the premises with your belongings. You have 5 mins to do so.

There was a mad scramble in the dormitory as doors were flung open and people ran to the main hall.

Fatima hurried along with the crowd and searched for kat. She couldn't find her, so she reached the main hall with the other trainees alone.

A large group of trainees gathered around the notice board, some walked away smiling while a few had dejected faces and were being consoled by their friends.

She finally spotted Kat in front of the notice board with the gang, she pushed an elbowed her way to get to her.

"The other girls formed a circle around kat and were talking among themselves. When they saw Fatima they all stopped and glared at her with hostile eyes.

She turned to Kat for support but was surprised to see that she was looking at her the same way.

“What's wrong? She asked Kat.

“You've passed, so you get to stay here unlike some of us, " Kat replied with a sneer on her face.

She checked the board and looked for the earth column.

"4 of the students from earth have failed leaving out her and her brother.

"He had passed with flying colors and even scored a perfect score in the practical section, she scored poorly especially in the general knowledge section.

She checked the Martians column, and most of Kat's crew had failed horribly.

"kat herself was just 1 mark below the cutoff point.

It's not my fault I passed, look at it, I barely made my way in, she said to Kat who still looked angrily at her.

Kat pushed past her with her crew without replying and headed back to the dormitory obviously to pack her belongings.

"Some of her crew occasionally look at her and she sensed their hate from the distance they were.

She went back to the dormitory to prepare for Master Yedder class.

She carried her spandex uniform from her bed and went to the general bathroom to bathe.

She thought about Kat's behavior when she was there.

"It had not been her fault that Kat failed, she was behaving like the bullies in her class back on earth who took their frustrations on the weak kids in class.

She kept her uniform on the rack in the bathroom and went to the closest shower to bath. The cold water helped her clear her thoughts and provided a distraction from the morning events.

She watched other girls leave the bathroom until she was the only one left. She needed to be in the shower a little longer.

" She heard someone unlock the door and then lock it again. Not someone, she thought; as she heard multiple footsteps echoing off the bathroom floor.

“Fatima” heard a voice called out.

“She switched off the shower just as people rounded the bend and came into view.

“It was Kat and her crew.

“Think you're better than us, right? One of the girls said to her mockingly.

She felt small and defenseless as she stood naked in their midst."

A feeling of deja vu hit her as she remembered all the times she had been in a similar situation at school.

"She looked around for something to defend herself with, but there was nothing dangerous around.

“Don't get any funny ideas, " the girl said looking at her roaming eyes. “We just want to say goodbye to a friend.

The other girls laughed loudly at the statement. Fatima looked at Kat for some reason, Kat could not meet her eyes and had a shifty look about her.

Then the girl sent a flying kick to her stomach, she ducked sidewards stumbling on the wet floor as she struggled to regain her balance.

"Then the others charged her at once. She hit one and punched the other in the jar before she went down.

She was kicked multiple times as she layed on the floor, she curled herself inward in a fetus position to defend herself.

She felt stinging pain over her body as she tempo of the beatings increased. From her position she saw Kat standing aloof watching her crew beat her.

"Then someone stepped on her maimed leg and she screamed out in pain. Through the blurred vision of her tears, she saw Kat restrain the girls.

“I think she had learned her lesson," Kat told them as they all left the bathroom.

Fatima lay down for a while, humiliated by the beating. What had the advisor seen in her?, she thought; she was so weak sje couldn't defend herself.

She stood up from the floor and winced sharply, the pain from her leg was jarring.

"She cleaned herself in the shower taking care to avoid all the sore part on her body.

She removed her uniform from the rack and put it on with some difficulty

. Leaving the bathroom, she slowly limped towards Master Yedder’s class and she asked a guard for directions and was directed to an open field behind the institute.

On getting there, she saw other trainees assembled in two rows facing each other.

They were all girls, she was disappointed, she thought it could be mixed so she can find her brother. Master Yedder paced to and fro with his hands folded behind him.

"He was saying something grim to them judging from the seriousness on the students face.

They all turned towards her as she limped around the field. Master Yedder also stopped talking and faced her.

“You're 20 mins late, I don't tolerate lateness, what happened? He asked.

“I had an accident, she replied, ashamed to tell him the truth.

He studied her with his one good eye, her insides squiremed in protest at his penetrating gaze so she focused on his right eye patch. He seemed satisfied with her responsed and turned his back at her.

Actually Master Yedder, I came to ask to be absent from today's lesson, I'm in no condition to fight, she said hurriedly, afraid he'll refuse her.

“You were in no accident out of your control, you were beaten up and I'll teach you how to defend yourself against such experience in the future.
