CHAPTER 1: POOR SEBASTIAN

"I'm sorry. We don't have any jobs available for now." The man behind the counter said.

Sebastian let out a loud exhausted sigh,with his head facing the ground, he rubbed the nape of his neck as he made his way out of the small company.

This was the fourth place he had been to in search of a job that was not available and only to be disappointed again. He let out a loud sigh, feeling frustrated and angry.

He couldn't help but worry about how he would face Hannah when he returned home.

Hannah was his girlfriend and Sebastian stayed with her in her apartment since he was currently broke and had nowhere to go.

For the past year, Hannah has persistently pressured Sebastian to find a job, causing him to abandon his dream of working in a big company. Despite applying to smaller companies, Sebastian has been unable to secure a job.

He heaved a deep sigh of anguish.

A little smile carved Sebastian's lips as he remembered how he used to be so happy, working in a big company as a manager and living in his own luxurious apartment.

He was the happiest with Hannah then and he had even proposed to her. They had been on the verge of getting married before he lost his job and everything he had with it.

And now living with Hannah in her apartment, a day did go by without Hannah raining insults on him about being poor and jobless.

Sebastian felt his eyes starting to get blurry with tears but he quickly wiped them off, and took a deep breath.

He was a man and he was going to get through this.

Sebastian slowly climbed the stairs of his girlfriend's apartment, careful not to make any sounds so Hannah wouldn't hear him while also hoping that she wasn't at home.

He carefully brought out the key to unlock the door from his bag so it wouldn't jingle and alert Hannah that he was home because he was so scared of facing her at that moment.

He let out a silent sigh of relief as he finally unlocked the door and tiptoed into the apartment and to the direction of Hannah's room to confirm if she was there.

Now at Hannah's room door, he placed his ears on the door and instantly flinched at the sound he heard coming from the room.

And just at that moment, the door flung open with Hannah standing there clutching a towel to her naked body.

Sebastian glared at her, trying hard to picture what was happening.

"Is the loser back?" A guy's voice asked loudly from inside Hannah's room.

Sebastian gasped out slightly, completely shocked and confused. His girlfriend was cheating on him with another man.

"Wha…What's happening, Hannah? Who is he?" Sebastian asked with trembling hands, his eyes were starting to get blurry with tears and he didn't even try to wipe them off this time.

"Hey loser," The man called as he stepped closer and stood beside Hannah wearing only a boxer.

"This is Jake. And he is the one I'm getting married to" Hannah said and Jake smiled widely behind her.

Sebastian stumbled back on his feet in complete shock. " What..what about me? Weren't we supposed to get married?!"

Sebastian asked as he felt his heart getting shattered into a thousand pieces.

Hannah let out a dry chuckle. " In your dreams, loser." She said in a mocking tone.

"You think I'm going to get married to a poor and jobless guy like you and suffer for the rest of my life, Never!"

"I only let you live in my apartment this long because of the good times we had and the pity I felt for you but all that ends today, so get your stuff and get out of my apartment!"

Sebastian gasped out in stark disbelief, tears streaming down his face.

He instantly covered his face with his palms hoping that it was all a dream and that he wasn't actually about to lose his girlfriend and be homeless.

"Hannah.. please..let's talk about this..I..I promise to find a job..I.." Sebastian started to weep out and plead continuously but Hannah quickly shuts him up with a slap.

"I'm only giving you five minutes you loser, take your stuffs and leave my apartment!"

"You heard her loser, hurry up so I can get back to business with my sugar baby," Jake said with a laugh as he held Hannah on the waist and pecked her cheeks.

Hannah giggled flirtatiously "stop it. Let's deal with him first, you know I'm all yours," She said as they kissed right in front of Sebastian, completely shattering his world.

Slowly Sebastian turned his gaze away from them, his face wet with tears.

With a sad sigh, he picked up the bag that he had previously dropped and started to walk away, over to the door.

He turned to stare at Hannah and Jake one last time, his eyes clearly visible with pain and hurt.

He finally opened the door and walked out.

Now outside, Sebastian stood helplessly, clutching his bag.

He had forgotten to pack his stuff obviously because he felt embarrassed and just wanted to get out of the whole unpleasant situation.

He sighed as he wondered how long Hannah had been sleeping with Jake, probably longer than he could even imagine.

Sebastian didn't know when he started to cry again, he had finally hit rock bottom.

Completely jobless, hopeless, helpless and now homeless.

How was he going to survive this, he had no one to call for help, all he had was Hannah but now Hannah had left him too, leaving him with heartbreak and pains.

It was past 11pm and Sebastian was out just walking helplessly in the busy night street clutching his bag.

He was just walking, he had absolutely nowhere to go and no money to get himself anywhere, it felt like the world was finally coming to an end.

Sebastian sighed out loudly in frustration, and just as he looked up, his eyes widened in shock as he saw a lady in a white gown almost looking like a ghost with her eyes closed, and just walking to the direction of the main road, she was obviously sleep walking.

Sebastian gasped out as his brows drew together, and he started to panic, he had to do something but he didn't know what to do.

He quickly gazed around but no one was paying any attention to the lady and without much thinking, just before the lady was about to get into the way of a fast moving car, he quickly ran over to her and jerked her off, Sebastian fell to the ground at the side of the main road safe from the moving cars with the lady on top of him.
