Chapter 08

Ever since the man who saved him gave and explained the locket to him he has been trying to open it and find his family but it had always led to a dead end

This has been the only tunnel with light at the end,  and he wanted to see where it went. He handed over the locket and watched as the man brought out a very tiny key from the ring he was wearing, and surprisingly it opened.

“so wh…wha..what does this mean?” Alonso asked in a broken voice, as he held the locket and saw it open for the first time since he could remember.

“it means you are the master, the first and true heir. You are Mr. Castle junior”

They both stood in silence for the longest time. The General stood with a bright smile on his lips, and hope on his face, as he locked eyes with Alonso who wore a mixed feeling of confusion and happiness and stood in shock.

“General, the event is about to start, and you are needed” a masculine voice from outside said

“I will be out shortly, General answered

“lay low until after the event, then we would talk. I don’t want your presence to be noticed, and hide that locket” the General said. Finally breaking the silence between them

“I can't stay here or lie low, I really have to be there and my presence is needed just as you are,” Alonso said as he gently closed the locket and placed it inside the shirt he wore for safekeeping.

“Sir, I know you were invited, but Miss Montillo husband to be would be announced today, and Philip would also be announced as the heir of the Castillo empire, so please just for a short while” he pleaded with a sad face obviously because an illegitimate heir was taking over the business

General feared that something might happen to Alonso, as Philip would go to any length to keep his position and Alonso was that threat

“ I am the groom that is supposed to be announced, so I have to be there”

“What!” the General yelled softly in confusion

“Does she know?” he asked Alonso curiously

“Know what?”

“Does she already know that you are the true heir?” he asked hurriedly as knocks could be heard on the door and the General knew it was time for him to leave

“I doubt she knows. I am only here to help her take over the business and that is all. And you should know that I have no memory of your master who went missing all I have is this locket” Alonso explained

“how does she plan to use you?”

“let us just say she has everything planned out, and all I have to do is follow her lead. But I have a problem and that is Philip. I am already on his bad book and he had threatened me”

“All I can say is that Philip is a very dangerous man and I implore you to be extremely careful when dealing with him. Rumour has it that he and his mother were responsible for what happened to you and your family months back”

The General said as he turned to leave, leaving Alonso in deep confusion and shock

The General took a few seconds before leaving “let’s go,” he said to his boys as he arranged his suit and went into the hall, and Alonso followed behind them

The first person they saw was Perry and both their hearts flustered. Alonso's own heart was heavy as he didn’t know how to feel about the news of his identity and marry Perry, he was still trying to wrap his head around everything when he saw Philip

His fist tightened as he took in a deep breath. What the General had just told him about Philip flooded his mind and he couldn’t help but imagine them as being true

He had the strong urge to rush over to Philip and land a few punches on his face but that would only put him in more trouble and lessen his chances of helping Perry and himself

They went further and ran into Perry's father and his wife“Is he a crook, a thief, or a spy?” Mr. Montillo asked the general and he refuted all claims. “so what is that about the family's locked and sculpture that I hear of?” he asked again this time keener.

“And also, is it not only my best-friends family” he paused for a while and his emotions rushed in as he thought of his friend. He might be seen as an invalid and probably a vegetable, but to some extent, he was still sound

“Isn't it the Castle family who identifies with the necklace while we identify with the ring? Does that mean you are his son?” he asked and everywhere went dead silence as they expected an answer

General gave a mild stare at Alonso who returned it, and simultaneously they looked stole a glance at Philip who looked upset, angry, and afraid

The look on Philips mothers face was enough to identify her as the culprit as she turned pale just at the question

“that was also false sir. That guy must be on some sort of cheap drugs and would be punished” he added assuring everyone that everything was alright and the event could begin also Alonso was just a nobody

As Alonso walked to his seat, he looked at the Chairman closely and wondered if he could tell him stories about his father that could jog his memory

“If he was my father's best friend, certainly I should know him too on a personal level,” Alonso thought

Everything went on as planned. Alonso was announced as the in-law to the family, and Philip was introduced as the official CEO and President of the company.

“How can you be marrying Perry, you low life?” a voice said angrily. That voice sounded so familiar and jealous.
