Quinn was dumbfounded. He didn't think Bell would be able to kill.
But didn't she say that she couldn't fight?
This was a strange question.
“Eh? No no, don't kill them, but if you can, cripple the beast as a warning.” He chuckled, giving her a pat on the head.
Bell frowned. She actually wanted to kill the beasts for disrespecting her master.
“Okay then. Crippling the beast would almost kill the master so I'd do just that instead.”
Her face brightened up, but Quinn was even more worried at her remark.
Before he could stop her, she had already walked forward.
The two beasts walked to the middle of the ring and Black let out a deafening roar.
“I feel scared for Quinn .”
“If a beast dies, it would be very difficult for the summoner to take in another beast.”
Someone among the crowd said but others laughed.
Who doesn't like a little drama like this once in a while.
As long they weren't the ones at the receiving end, it was okay by them.
Bell walked to the front in her over-sized shirt.
With her clean look, she looked way prettier than yesterday and Quinn had taken the effort of straightening her hair this morning.
“Quinn, watch slowly.” Rhys said and brought his head down to give Lena a kiss.
The people cheered him on but Quinn had a blank expression.
And then he yelled out, “Bell! Kill that Damned Beast!”
“Okay!” Bell became excited.
She had heard the comments from everyone, but there was nothing she could do without the permission of her master.
Rhys who heard this furrowed his brow.
“Black use your strongest move, and ensure nothing of their body remains!” He yelled out.
Hearing that even Lena was worried for Quinn
“Rhys, isn't that too far? You'd kill Quinn too.”
“And rid the world of a burden. I'd gladly do that.” Rhys smiled crazily and kept his eyes back on the match.
Black opened his mouth as if to roar.
But instead, lightning elements from around started to gather in one spot.
Quinn , who had just awakened the power of lightning, felt power being drawn from his body.
“A power move instantly?” He frowned to himself, unable to understand what the beast was doing.
Quinn turned his eyes to Bell who was just standing and wondered if to call her back.
“Did she already have a plan?”
Bell looked back at Quinn and gave him a small wink.
“Thanks for feeding me, Master!”
Quinn heard her voice in his mind and then he nodded back.
Raising her hand, Bell snapped her fingers and a large black hole appeared under Black.
In the blink of an eye, both monsters vanished.
Rhys jumped from his seat.
“What the fuck? Black, where are you? Can you hear me?”
There was no response. His communication with his beast had been cut off.
Rhys turned his bloodied eyes back to Quinn .
“What the heck did you do to my beast?”
Quinn simply gave him a smirk, “Why are you afraid, Rhys? I thought you said your beast is strong enough to kill my Dreg.”
Rhys bit down on his lips.
It was obvious that Quinn was messing with him.
No Dreg would be able to do what that girl beast had done.
“Fuck this! If anything happens to my beast, I'd make sure you never leave this town alive.” Rhys lashed out.
“My father has a range of beasts at his command. You are freaking cooked if anything happens to black, Quinn Thorpes.” Rhys was ruthless as he spoke.
However, Quinn was not afraid.
He walked to the middle of the ring.
“Bell, bring it out.”
Everyone heard him clearly.
The same black hole appeared again, and something was thrown out.
It was black, big, and extremely bloody
“What the heck?”
“That's the panther! What happened in that place?”
Whispers filled the crowd.
Rhys rushed straight to the body of the beast.
“Black! No!” He yelled out in anger.
He could only faintly hear the breathing of the beast.
Quinn walked forward and Rhys’ face turned pale.
“Bell, take him in too” Quinn 's voice resounded and Rhys looked at him in horror.
“No. What are you saying? Do you know who the fuck I am–”
His voice was cut short as he fell into a black hole.
Everyone watching shuddered.
In a few seconds, Rhys was shot out from another black hole, clutching his arm.
At least, what was left of his arm.
He couldn't scream and remained in that spot.
“Rhys!” Lena’s voice filled the air as she rushed to her fiance.
“Quinn, what have you done? It was just a casual duel and you ripped out his arm?” Her face was livid.
And in that moment, a fox covered in blazing fire materialized beside her.
Quinn shook his head, “A casual duel? It seems like you want to be next, Lena. Trust me, I wouldn't hesitate.”
Hearing the tone in his voice, Lena swallowed her words.
There was nothing she could do.
That Dreg Beast.
Bell materialised besides Quinn, who gave her a head pat.
“Master, did I do well?” She asked.
“Yes, you did. I'd treat you with something nice today.” Quinn said in response.
Everyone watched their interactions and they were speechless.
Quinn turned back to leave, when suddenly—
“Stop right there!”
Two armoured soldiers landed heavily, blocking his path, with dust rising from their feet.
The atmosphere instantly changed and even some of the students dispersed.
The Silver Dragon Crest on their chest was enough for everyone to know that these people meant serious business.
An Instructor rushed forward.
He had seemingly been dumbfounded by the duel he had watched.
But now that these people were here, he was able to think clearly.
“Commander Vaughan. Please to what honour do we owe the Esteemed Silver soldiers for visiting our school.”
However, the instructor was met with no response, as Vaughan glanced at the young man who was lying in his own blood.
That face was very familiar.
“What happened here?” Vaughan’s thunderous voice filled the area.
Quinn was about to speak when Lena rushed forward, crashing at the foot of the commander.
“Sir! Please save him. Save my fiancé.” Tears flowed from her eyes and then she pointed at Quinn .
“This male here attacked him brutally, not giving him a chance to fight and proceeded to cripple him during the academy spar.”
Vaughan frowned. He now understood why this face was familiar.
This was the first son of the Valdris Noble family.
Those people donated heavily to the military, and his frown deepened.
He walked forward and crouched beside Rhys.
“This is beyond recovery.” Vaughan said with a sad tone.
Rhys’ eyes widened. He didn't overreact because he had thought his father's set of healers would be able to give him a new hand.
His bloodied eyes turned to Quinn .
“He tried to kill me! It was a forbidden Beast art. Everyone saw it.”
Quinn 's expression changed, “You lying piece of—”
“Quiet!”
Pressure settled on Quinn, bringing his knees down to the floor.
Bell was currently resting so Quinn could only take this on his own.
Although he knew she could still fight.
He didn't want to offend the government.
Vaughan stepped forward, “You dare to cripple another student during an ordinary spar?”
Blood flowed from Quinn 's gritted teeth.
“He threatened me first.”
“That gives you no right to maim the heir of a noble family!”
Of course.
Quinn frowned. Rhys’ family. That explained everything.
The instructor who was overseeing the duel stepped forward.
“Commander Vaughan. There had been a misunderstanding, it was a mutual agreement—”
“You watched a student nearly die and you didn't stop it?” Vaughan shot back and that was enough to silence the instructor.
The commander turned his gaze back to Quinn .
“Quinn Thorpes. By authority of the City Guard, you are hereby placed under arrest for the illegal mutilation of a noble citizen and the suspected use of forbidden beast abilities.”

Quinn already knew that was the best option. There was no way he could go down there by himself. The best course of action was always with a team.“Yes. I'd go with you.” Quinn answered.“Thank you, I'd do everything to protect you. Meet us here by night, and then we'd set on our way.” Asterion said and then he turned around.Quinn nodded and went back to the serving lady.“I have accepted the job.” He said. The serving lady looked at him and then shook her head.“Kid, you have a good life in front of you. Why would you choose to waste it just like that? I thought after seeing the job description, you would choose not to go.”She said to him. The dungeons were dangerous places, and so many people never came out of there alive. And this young man was willing to step into that place.“I need money so I can get into the tournament and win it. That's how best my life can be of use, by being a golden knight, and I would do everything in my power to achieve that.” Quinn said.“Sure kid, but
CHAPTER 8
“Okay, you are qualified.” The guards said and the large gates were opened. The large bands of caravan entered into the massive city.“Where are we going?” Quinn asked one of the merchants as soon as they were far from the guards.“The city market Square. The reason why so many merchants are moving to Archtis is becoming of the upcoming Tournament to decide who would take the golden spots.” The man replied him.“The Golden Spots? What's that about?”“The emperor gives out two separate slots for the Archtis President to fill with two people worthy enough to be Golden Knights. This is because of how much Archtis has contributed to the war against the demon beasts and nightmares.” The caravan had already reached market square, and the merchants started to offload their goods.“So due to that, most people come from neighbouring city just to get a chance, and since the Archtis President see it as a way to increase the city's pocket, he turned it into a tournament.”Quinn was speechless bu

The bumps along the road weren't much of a bother.“We picked the right caravan. They are heading to Archtis.” Quinn said, hiding quietly in a corner, while hoping no one would find him.He had gotten this hint from their conversation. The journey went on smoothly, with a few bumps here and there.Until it came to a stop. From the back seat of the caravan, Quinn peered out of the window. There was no building in sight, which meant only one explanation.“Get ready to fight, Bell.”The sounds of bullets echoed in the dawn of the day.“Even the guards we paid for are useless.”“Who would have thought we would meet renowned Mountain Bandits?”“We don't have anything, please spare our lives.”The merchants tried to beg but it was fruitless.“Shut up! We know what you are carrying in those things. Our informant would never mislead us. And if you think you can decieve us, be ready to die.” A burly man swung a sword, resting it on his shoulders. Then he chuckled, moving the stick he held in h

There was no moment to doubt.“Okay, thank you.” Quinn took the key and Vaughan stepped out of the dungeon. After that fight, it was like his mind had been rewired. There was no explanation for someone like him to be afraid of the Rodriguez family. The White Soldiers would do just fine without their sponsorship.Quinn opened the door of the cage and he walked out.“Bell. Can you hear me?”Quinn said the moment he stepped out of the cage.Bell materialised and gave him a nod.“I couldn't come out.”“It's fine. Let's get out of here.” Quinn said. The pathway through the dungeon was dark and the voices of guards echoed in every area.Bell pinched Quinn's sleeve as they hid in the corners.“You have something?” Quinn looked down, and then a black hole appeared under them.“Okay, let's do this.”With a nod, they fell into the dark hole.Quinn landed softly, and he looked around.“Bell. Where are you?”Darkness covered everywhere around him and for a moment, he thought he had gone blind.“H

“You see! It's exactly as my grandson said. He's using forbidden arts!” An elderly man stepped out from the crowd. The judge's face paled. This was the Patriarch of the Rodriguez Family. There was no way the judge could offend the second greatest family in the city, next to the king.“Patriarch, please, to what do we owe the honour of your visit.” The Judge rushed to Patriarch.Meanwhile Quinn dreaded what would happen after this. There was no way if this man was involved.“Damn it.” Quinn clenched his fists, and then he thought about bell.“Greeting me while planning to set me the culprit who made my son armless has to be some sort of joke.”“Patriarch….” The judge tried to explain.“You should also seize his summon! That thing cannot be allowed to roam free.” Another elder from the Rodriguez family stepped out.“As the family known for controlling multiple summons, it would be best to give us authority over it.” Another person said.It was plain obvious what the Rodriguez family wer

“Freaking hell!” Quinn snapped.“You want to arrest me? Sure, no problem!” Then he pointed back to Rhys, “Arrest him too or does noble blood mean he is permitted to commit attempted murder.” Quinn frowned.“Ask any one of them first, what he tried to do?”Captain Vaughan narrowed his eyes, then he turned around.“Anyone that can testify that Rhys tried to kill Quinn first should step forward this instant.”Quinn clenched his fists.“Guys. What are you doing? Weren't anyone there when that panther tried to do a killer move? Didn't you see?”However none of them answered. They all looked away.Vaughan chuckled. “As you can see, you have no witnesses or evidence.” He said, glaring at Quinn, before turning to his shoulders.“Seize him!”A black hole formed around both Vaughan and the soldiers who were coming forward.Quinn was the first person to notice this.“Bell. Stop it! You'd only make it worse.” He quickly said to her.He had thought she was resting until he saw the black hole. The
