Julia didn’t flinch.Didn’t look up."It was recently included." She responded.Lucian hesitated. “May I ask why it’s included?”Julia’s fingers tapped once on the folder.“For oversight.”Her voice was devoid of emotion. Lucian swallowed tightly. “But my board...”“Is unstable,” she interrupted mildly, her gaze finally rising. “Three seats compromised. Two defaulted loans. One internal audit still missing. You’re aware of all this.”Lucian nodded stiffly.“Then you also understand Rhein has every right—and reason—to protect its capital,” Julia added, her tone smooth but absolute. Lucian shifted in his seat, fingers twitching on the pen.“Of course,” he said quietly. “I’m grateful for the opportunity. Truly. It’s just... a bit unexpected.”"Well, if you want the money you have to comply, not like you have many choices." Lucian didn’t respond.Because deep down, he knew she wasn’t wrong. His jaw tightened. Jane Foster blinked like she hadn’t heard him. Then she scoffed. “What did you just say?” she asked, eyes narrowing. “I said you bumped into me,” Adrian repeated, unmoved. “Next time, try watching where you’re going.” Jane’s jaw unhinged in shock. She tossed her phone into her purse and squared her shoulders like a queen about to deliver judgment. “Do you even know who I am?” she snapped. Adrian arched a brow, hands still calmly at his sides. “How would I?” he said simply. “This is my first day.” Jane’s eyes widened for half a second. Then they narrowed to slits. “First day?” she repeated, voice now a blade. “And you’re already mouthing off to senior management?” She let out a sharp laugh. “Oh, this is rich. You're a new comer and you have the audacity to speak to me like that?” Adrian’s silence was deafening. He did not even seem bothered and ignored confusion and anger in Jane. Jane tilted her chin, snorting. “Which department are you with? And what’s your name?” S
