CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Sarah tightened her grip on the steering wheel, moving through the city with unfazed commitment. The city lights and buildings were blurry in the background as the black sedan's engine roared behind them in hot pursuit. Her chest was pounding seeing the sedan’s headlight cutting through cars like a predator chasing its prey through the grass through the rearview mirror.“What is happening, Abel?” She said, her eyes frequently change course between the road and the mirror. “Who are those guys? How did you know that they were after us? What is going on here, Abel?”Abel Scott kept his eye glued to the side mirror, observing as the sedan weaved its way through the busy road in relentless pursuit.“I have no idea, Sarah.” He said, his voice loud but overshadowed by the roar of the car engine. “Something didn't just sit right with me about the guy. The way he was watching us. The way he held his phone and moved toward us. like he was receiving instructions” he paused, then shifted his gaze

How on earth was this guy…” He said, jerking a thumb at Abel. “able to land a woman like you?”“What spell did you use, Abel?” Jude asked, turning his gaze to Abel Scott.Sarah's hand paused on the car handle. Her eyebrows narrowed. “Excuse me?” She rebutted. “You do not get to talk to my husband in that manner.” Jude scoffed, unfazed by the flare in her eyes. “Oh, come on, Sarah, don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about.” He said, his voice dripping with condescension.“This guy…This guy…” He continued, jerking his thumb at Abel again. “This guy scrubs toilets while you purchase companies and you tell me there is no voodoo here?” “What is the trick, Abel?” He continued, “What is it? Love portion? Is it Black magic? What is it, Abel?”“Where did you get it? Tell me so I can scoop a high-profile woman like her for myself too.” Abel Scott's fist curled into a ball at his sides, the h

“Who's there?” the first man barked again. His voice echoed through the silent hallway. Abel Scott pushed the mop aside and slipped into a nearby supply closet gently shutting the door. He held his breath but the scent of bleach and damp rag filled his lungs. Through the narrow slit in the door he saw the shadows of the men searching for any sign of an intruder“Did you hear that?” the man with the Vandel insignia barked, his shoe scraping the marble floor. “There is someone else here.”“It is probably the janitor.” The second man said, his voice dripping with irritation. “Let's check the other office and get out of here. Lord Ammon Vandel is waiting for our report on the grave.”One of the men stopped in front of the supply closet. Abel Scott’s breath caught. His heartbeat thundering in his ears. After trudging through many office doors in the hallway, the men retreated. “What a sheer waste of time.” one of the men muttered as they walked into the elevator. “My God!” Abel Scott

Abel Scott, now in a blue janitor uniform. The wheels of the mop bucket squealed as he pushed it down the hallway.“Look, it's the new janitor,” a brunette with the name tag Francisca said. Her red lipstick stood out against her pale skin. She had the aura of a person who looked down on low status workers due to her stalled career.“What is your name again?” she asked, loud enough to get everyone's attention. “Abel, right?” Another woman asked, she stood beside Francisca at the water cooler with her name tag reading Amelia. She had a clipboard under her arm. “Did they hire you to clean up your mess after that horrendous interview?” Francisca asked. “I am just doing my job. Ma” Abel Scott kept his eyes on the floor, slightly gripping the mop handle.“Ma?” Francisca scoffed, nudging Amelia. “He is too polite for a floor scrubber.” she laughed. “Tell me, Abel, do you ever dream of becoming something more than this,” she asked.“Dream? Why bother dreaming?” Amelia chimed in, her voice
CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
The heavy oak door of the nondescript cafe pushed open, faintly jingling the bell above. The scent of roasted coffee beans filled the air, mingling with the damp air of the morning rain.“You are late Mr Jackson,” Abel Scott said, his voice low but firm, sipping the steaming hot cup of espresso before him. “I trust you have read the paper?” Mr Jackson muttered, sliding into the seat opposite him, his grey suit immaculate, he adjusted his cufflinks.Abel's eyes flickered to the folded paper from the cemetery lying tightly on cafe table. He picked it up, unfolding it with deliberate care. His fingers slightly shaking as he smoothened the paper. He slid the paper to Mr Jackson.“Look!” Abel said pointing at a picture of a coin.“This looks like a map.” Mr Jackson said, carefully studying the paper. “Read what it say below the coin.” Abel Scott requested.“The coin is the key to the Scott family gold reserves. It lies where their heart rests.” Mr Jackson said, reading the scrawled word

He stepped into the Vibe Corporation lobby clasping his fresh resume tightly. The receptionist's eyes were fixated on her screen, her finger clacking against the keyboard. Abel Scott cleared his throat in an attempt to register his presence. “Abel Scott, I'm here for the janitorial assistant interview,” his voice was soft and low.She looked up, her expression flat as the marble floor. “You again?” she muttered, flipping through a stack of paper.“Fill this paper and wait in that room,” she said, sliding across a form and pointing at the room on the other side of the hall. Abel Scott sat, his pen inscribing words against the paper. His phone buzzed. It was a text from Mr Jackson Alfred. “The acquisition of ABC corporation has been finalized, Vibe corporations and westbridge distributions are now under your control, Lord Abel Scott. Do you have any instructions?” Abel replied quickly. “Ensure I get the janitor jo
