Percival slowly circled the both of them like a predator taunting it's prey. His fierce eyes settled on Adrian, assessing him.

“Do you know why I have come to you today, Adrian?” Percival questioned Adrian who shrugged his shoulders

“Enlightened me,” Adrian replied casually.

Percival’s eyes flashed with anger as he stopped walking.

“How dare you speak to me in such manner! Do you have a death wish?” He yelled at Adrian who just sighed.

“This better be important. I can't believe I may have to teach you punks some lessons too,” Adrian said impatiently, and the soldiers laughed.

But not Percival.

“Boss, not only is he a loser, he is also insane,”

“Should we even waste time with an ass wipe like this? He's obviously lost it,”

The soldiers mocked Adrian. But he kept quiet.

“Your ex-wife did say there was something different about you. Now I know. You cannot handle the news of her dumping you, can you?” Percival said and smiled.

“Is that what she told you?” Adrian laughed. To save face, he expected Ciara to lie. And he was not surprised.

“That is the truth, is it not? Or am I to believe a trash bag like you could dump a woman like Ciara? She's an excellent healer and you're just… a servant,”

“Former servant, sir. The loser lost his fucking job this morning,”

A soldier corrected him and the rest burst into laughter. Even Percival chuckled.

“You are unfortunate, aren't you? Everything just crashed down on you at the same time,” he said to Adrian who kept a pokerface.

“Lieutenant Percival, why are you here? Did we do anything wrong?” Macy asked Percival.

His eyes roamed to her with lust.

“Such a delicate creature… I wonder how you'll taste in bed,” he whispered, the distraction seeping into him

Then his composure returned and he frowned at Adrian.

“Ciara reported that you beat up her father. You may be useless but I didn't think you'd be a brute too. And that must not go unpunished,” he said to Adrian.

Adrian held Macy tighter. He knew where this was going.

“But… I can forgive you, and pretend like this didn't happen… if you fall down on your knees before me… and give me your sister to become my bitch!” Percival said and smiled.

“I have a better idea.” Adrian started,

“Why don't you go fuck yourself?” Adrian shot at him and everyone gasped.

The alley fell silent as Percival processed the insult.

“Brother! Don't talk to him that way. He will kill us!” Macy quickly intervened.

“Please lieutenant Percival, he didn't mean that. You can take me, but please don't hurt us,” Macy quickly chipped in and begged.

“Even the bitch wants Percival's cock!”

“Every bitch wants Percival! He's amazing!”

The soldiers sang percival's praise but Adrian remained indifferent. And Percival noticed the defiance.

“Kneel. Now.” Percival stated, his hands clenching into a fist.

“No.” Adrian replied.

“Bring him to his knees,” Percival commanded his men who chuckled and drew their weapons.

Looking around, Adrian gently placed Macy on the ground.

“Brother, please… don't do this… they will kill you…” she begged him. But Adrian smiled.

“Close your eyes, Macy,” he told her and she sniffled

She shut her eyes and covered her ears with her hands.

Adrian took a deep breath.

The energy that has been raging inside him begged to come out. He could feel the energy spreading across his body, filling up every cell, every tissue.

[Activating combat mode]

[Welcome, Adrian Bloodson, Dragon Knight; first of his kind]

[Current status: S-class magical; Energy level: computing; unlimited potentia]

[New mission alert: Defeat Percival's men]

[Reward: Access to mind magik!]

His tattoos glowed red, his veins gave off a red streaking as his skin became paler.

The soldiers saw this and paused, casting glances at each other.

“What sort of magik is this?”

“Is this even magik?”

They whispered as the energy built and and with a charge, Adrian released it.

The blast swept the soldiers off their feet and slammed them onto the ground, knocking some totally unconscious while the others snapped their necks in the process.

Adrian opened his red eyes, fixing them on Percival who, at that time, jerked back in fear.

“You have magik? That's impossible!” He said to Adrian who gently approached him.

With each step, Adrian's power surged.

Percival shuddered as Adrian kept walking toward him. Realizing he had nothing in him to compete with what Adrian was carrying, percival faked a final glare.

“This isn't over, Bloodson!” He snapped and disappeared into the shadows.

[Reward granted]

The energy gently dissipated. Adrian felt a chill come upon him.

He returned to Macy who still shut her eyes and ears. When he touched her, she screamed.

“It's me, Macy. It's me…” Adrian said to her. Macy opened her eyes and quickly hugged him, sniffling.

“I thought you'd be dead! How did you survive?” She asked him when she saw she soldiers lying on the ground.

But Adrian smiled at her. “Let's go,” he told her.

He still didn't understand his magic, but they had to leave.

When he raised her up, Adrian sensed a presence behind him.

Adrian immediately swung around and grabbed the person standing behind him and slammed them on the wall.

But when he saw that it was a woman, Adrian quickly let go of her.

“He said you'd be rough. But I did not expect this much,” she said to him while he stepped back.

“Who are you?” Adrian asked her. The lady glanced at the soldiers on the ground before her green eyes fell on Adrian again.

“Did you do this?” She asked him, but Adrian said nothing.

He gazed at her uniform: the ornate designs that dazzled under the evening sun, the expensive fabric that looked kike it could feed him for days, and the crest of a dragon and a knight- the official sigil of Scilicia.

There was no mistaking it.

“You're a mage,” Adrian stated with fact. The lady smiled.

“My name is Jade. My master sent me to bring you to him,” she said to Adrian.

“Who is your master?” He asked her.

“Draco. The most powerful telepath of the Grand Palace. He has been looking for you, Adrian,” she said to him.

Adrian thought it was bluff. There's no way such an important man would see him worthy enough for an audience.

“I have no business with your master,” he told Jade.

“But he wishes to reward you. For a good deed in the past. Fortune has favored you, Adrian. Please come with me,” she told him.

Adrian thought about the words. When did he ever cross paths with Draco? He couldn't remember.

But then he looked at his sister. She needed proper rest at least.

“Fine. Take me to your master,” he told Jade who smiled again.

Adrian picked Macy up, and walked into the unknown.

    92. Princess Sue left not long after dropping the bombshell. Adrian stood there for a long time, staring at the door like it might open again. Like she might come back so they could speak some more on what the hell she was talking about. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh. "Someone pretending to be her. What does that even mean?” He muttered as he went back into his chambers. "Who the hell can do something like that?" He stopped by the window, looking out at the dark courtyard below. Assuming the princess was right, there was only one other question he had left. “How long has this been happening? How the fuck am I supposed to help her with something I can't even see?" He started to pace about. "Think, Adrian.Everything is connected." Nothing came to mind and he went back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. "Great." He said into the silence. It wasn’t long before sleep enveloped him.- When Adrian opened his eyes, he wasn’t in his room anymore. T

92.Adrian’s expression hardened almost immediately. He didn’t laugh. He didn’t dismiss her. That alone made Sue pause.“You believe me?” she asked quietly.“I believe that you believe it,” Adrian said carefully, his mind already racing ahead. “And I believe something is very wrong in this palace.”That wasn’t comfort. Not really. But it was enough.Sue exhaled shakily, her grip tightening around his hand. “I’m not imagining this, Adrian. I know how it sounds, I do. But things… things are slipping.”“Slipping how?”She hesitated, searching for the right words.“Conversations I don’t remember having,” she said finally. “Servants claiming I gave orders I never gave. My guards… reacting before I even speak, like they already know what I’m going to say.”Adrian’s jaw clenched. That wasn’t just paranoia. That was pattern.“Anyone else notice?” he asked.“No,” she said quickly. “Or if they do, they’re pretending not to. And that’s what scares me the most.”Silence stretched between them.

    91. Adrian was in the middle of genuinely losing his shit when he heard a knock at the door. He hoped ignoring it would make it go away. He needed time to think, there was so much going on in such a short time. Everything felt like it was closing in on him, in between Zalaria's notes, Ciara, this Lady G, and problems from the prince watching him like a hawk, he was going mad. The knock came again and Adrian stormed to the door, opening it. “WHAT?” He exclaimed. “Woah! What has gotten into you?” She hissed. His anger soothed immediately he saw who he was. "Your highness." Princess Sue slipped inside quickly before anyone could notice. "Close it." She hissed. He did. They stood there for a second, just looking at each other, then she stepped forward and hugged him tight. Adrian blinked in surprise but didn't hesitate to wrapped his arms around her gently. "Hey..." He said gently. "What's wrong? I’m sorry for yelling, I just “It’s nothing." She said into hi

  • Chapter 90

    90. At the centre of the throne room sat Prince Henry. "They're here, Your Highness." A guard announced. Henry nodded, posing further with his chest out. "Let them in." The doors opener and well dressed, calm, and very observant looking people walked in. Their eyes didn't miss anything. A man with a beard walked to stand in front of the king. "Prince Henry." He greeted with a small bow. "We appreciate your audience." Henry gave a thin smile. "You're welcome. My father would have preferred to meet you himself, but as you've likely heard..." "The king's condition, yes." The man finished for Henry. "We have heard." "How is he?" A woman asked. "Recovering. He is stable." Henry said stiffly. That was not a lie, but it wasn't the full truth either. The king hadn't woken up since, but it would be stupid to reveal that to anyone, especially outsiders. The visitors exchanged looks, but none of them pushed any further. "That is good to hear.” The older man said sm

  • Chapter 89

    89. Adrian got out of his room and took a look around. To his relief, people weren't exactly pointing at him or saying irritating things as much. That didn't mean anything had gotten better, technically, it just meant people were talking somewhere else. Which was still okay. He hadn't been giving them a reaction so they should go somewhere else. He adjusted his sleeve slightly as he walked, having taken to wearing longer sleeves now. The marks and their glow were barely visible under the clothes unless one looked closely. The healers had said it was "stabilising" for what he was working with. "What's my status now?" [SYSTEM STATUS: STABLE.] Adrian nodded. He walked a bit and turned a corner when he slammed straight into someone. "Watch it!" He said calmly, holding her up before taking a respectful step back. The woman he bumped into barely moved. She just looked at him, then slowly rolled her eyes. "Maybe you should watch where you're going, blind bar." She replied

  • Chapter 88

    88. "Adrian, look at this!" Princess Sue said, holding something that looked like an envelope. Adrian raised a brow as he let her into his chambers. "What's the matter?" "Zalaria is gone!" She exclaimed. "Just like that, it's so..." "She left?" Adrian frowned. "How? Why? We haven't even worked out the details of all that has been happening!" Princess Sue stood near his window with her arms folded, looking more annoyed than surprised. "She didn't inform anyone properly. Nobody among my servants knew when she left, and she didn't even care to tell me either." "That's not suspicious at all, very normal behaviour." Adrian said sarcastically. "She's an alchemist!" Princess Sue defended her. "And so?" "She's never normal. Alchemists are very strange people." Adrian nodded. "Fair point." There was a pause and Princess Sue waved the envelope in her hand in Adrian's face. "She did leave something behind, though." Adrian raised a brow. "What did sh
