Thirty minutes later…

Robin sat calmly, wedged between the two burly police officers and they kept glaring at him.

“Wait until you get to the police cell! You will cry and beg for days and no one will let you out!”

“You can’t beg now, you will beg later!”

Apparently, Robin’s nonchalant and prideful attitude irked them so much as they were so used to trampling on powerless citizens but with Robin, it was different.

Even with their threats, Robin never heeded them and he kept counting in his mind… 1, 2, 3...

“Stop!” One of the police officers shouted at the driver suddenly. The driver stepped on the brakes making the car come to a sudden halt in the middle of the road. They looked out of the window to see a convoy going past them.

“Isn’t that the mayor’s convoy?” They asked, a little bit jittery.

As they spoke, the car the mayor was in came to a sudden halt beside them. The road was completely blocked off now and the police officers who never dreamed of seeing the mayor in their entire lives, quickly got out of the car.

“Sir…” They bowed as the mayor got out of the car himself. However, as they raised their heads, it was like a force was coming at them, and before they knew it…

Pak!

Pak!!

Their heads flew in different directions as the mayor had dealt a slap to them both.

They held their faces, in shock and they quickly went down on their knees even though they didn't know their offense.

“Get out of here this instant!” The mayor yelled angrily, he then turned to his subordinates, “Order an investigation into them both and get them locked up!”

“Please…Mayor…” The police officers pleaded but before they could say another word, they were dragged away.

However, the mayor remained beside the car that held Robin and gently, he knocked on the car window before opening the door.

“I apologize, Mr. Davenson. I came too late.” The mayor bowed, shocking the subordinates. They never received news of any prominent man coming into the city, so who was this man?

“It’s alright. You came at the right time, still.” Robin waved his hand, telling the mayor to take a step back before he got out of the car.

The mayor didn't question Robin at all, as he looked at Robin’s body, making sure there was no single bruise on his body.

“You should have told me you were coming. I would have prepared a welcoming party for you!” The mayor was eager and very happy to see Robin who he had not seen in a long while.

On the other hand, Robin only smiled at his words, knowing that the mayor had no idea what he had been through for the last three years in the same city.

“Shall we leave?” Robin asked calmly and the mayor quickly ushered him to the car.

Seeing how meticulous the mayor was, his subordinates knew that Robin must be an important figure they couldn't joke with. Hence, they were on their best behavior.

The mayor kept making small talks with Robin as they drove off and soon, they reached the mayor’s office building. However, they passed through a secret entrance, as Robin didn't want to be seen too much.

Finally, they reached the mayor’s office chambers and as soon as the door opened, with Robin standing right before the door, he spotted an old man in the office.

“I hope this is not what I am thinking,” Robin muttered, his expression turning grave and deadly.

“Huh…i…” The mayor stuttered, clearly afraid of Robin now. “I apologize, I had no choice but to bring him here when we all heard you were in the city.”

“Get him to leave then. I don’t want to see him, or I will leave. Choose one.” The anger and hate that stemmed from Robin at that moment, told the mayor he couldn't take the chance to offend Robin.

He quickly rushed into the office, “Old man Roy, you need to leave.” The mayor said, trying to get the old man up.

However, the old man didn't take his help at all, he immediately went down on his knees.

Bang!

The sound of bones connecting with the floor resounded in the office. Old man Roy was in pain but he kept kneeling with his face contorting in discomfort.

“Forgive my intrusion, Master Robin. But I have been looking all over the place for you, for years. I can't leave.” Old man Roy pleaded.

“That’s none of my business, is it?” Robin sneered, no atom of mercy in his voice.

“Please, hear me out.” Old man Roy continued. “The family needs you back. We are all determined to give you anything you want, but just come back.”

“I am just a butler but I have been on the mission of finding you for three years and I can’t go back to the family house unless I complete my mission.” The pleading look in Roy’s eyes ticked Robin off.

He was angry, yet pitiful toward the old man. Roy had devoted all his life to the Davenson family and if he didn't complete his mission, it would feel like a life failure.

However, Robin wasn't going to relent. He got rid of any atom of pity he had and smiled wickedly at Roy.

“If you want me back so bad, why don’t you do one thing then?” Robin said.

“What? Anything you want, Master Robin.”

“Good.” Robin nodded. “Bring back my mother then. If you can make her live again, I will forgive every one of you.”

Suddenly, Robin laughed out. It was a cold and emotionless laughter, one that showed the deep abyss in his heart that could never be filled up no matter what.

Fifteen years ago, Robin’s mother was killed by his father’s mistress who paraded herself as the new madam. Everyone could see that the mistress was guilty but she was never punished.

Yet, Robin kept fighting for five years and when he became a torn in the flesh of his father and the mistress, he was kicked out, beaten and left for dead on the cold forest floor.

Robin thought he had lost everything but a kind girl saved him, took care of him for three days until Robin was taken away by a powerful man three days later. For another five years, he lived with this man and learned every life skill he had and in five years, Robin had become one of the top members of the society, with no family background to rely on.

However, in his heart, he remembered a girl. The kind girl was his wife, whom he gifted a ring. But his wife turned out to be very unkind. He never expected the divorce, because he was already planning to reveal who he was to her, after all, he had changed so much over the years and she never recognized him.

But her betrayal came, when he thought he finally found his new family.

“Master Robin, can you reconsider?” Old man Roy’s voice broke through Robin’s thoughts.

The room was heavy, everyone waiting on Robin’s answer. For a split second, Roy had some hope after all, who would ignore family? But then…

“No!” Robin chuckled darkly. “Never! Traitors do not deserve a second chance, even if they are family, Roy. You taught me that as a child.”

Roy immediately went quiet hearing that. He had no words to refute.

At that moment, Robin was done and he turned away to leave, but he threw his last words over his shoulder.

“Go back to the family, tell them I will take my debt of blood soon. Just wait.”

  • It Was Him

As Robin stepped out of the hotel, Mason was already waiting for him and he was ushered into the car. “I found Carla’s location. She has been cooped up at her office since the early hours of today. She left her mansion, unusually early and I think that is suspicious.” Mason explained. “Did you trace Cora’s whereabouts from the mansion?” Robin asked seriously. “Yes. But it seems Cora just vanished into thin air. The CCTV cameras in the estate that night were all down. It seemed like a pre-planned attack. But it’s so high level.” Just like he had thought, Carla couldn't implement such a kidnapping on this scale. But then, he didn't want to leave a stone unturned. He had to really confirm if she wasn't involved. They proceeded to leave, however, the minute he settled, his phone rang. It was Chairman Black. As soon as the call connected, the old man spoke up hurriedly, “It's almost time for the meeting, aren't you coming?” Robin flipped his wrist to check his time and indeed, it w

“What?” Jane gasped, and she took a double-take at Robin’s back. She mirrored it with the disgust she felt from earlier and was finally making sense of the whole thing. But she didn't want to accept it! Would Robin be the boss of the Sky International Hotel? No way! He wasn't even part of the board. “Are you out of your mind, Ethan? What are you saying?” She yelled at her son but he was being held back again by the security. On the other hand, Diego couldn't take the ruckus and turmoil anymore. He rushed to the window and immediately caught Robin’s shoulder to make him face them.He forcefully pulled Robin, however, he didn't even move an inch. Robin had caught Diego’s hand, locked in with a tight grip.“You…” Diego gasped, as he finally saw Robin’s side profile. He tried to take his hand off his shoulder as if he was being burned but Robin’s grip was too strong. “Surprised to see me, Diego?” His sinister voice flowed through and for a moment, Diego shook in his pants. He had neve

“Will you be needing anything at all?” Thorn asked, running around to cater to Robin. He couldn't afford to mess up again. Also, he knew the board meeting would be held in the designated building, later that day and he wondered why Robin had arrived so early. “Nothing. Thank you.” Robin smiled, calmly, enough to ease Thorn’s stress. In that moment, Thorn let out a deep breath of relief and wiped the imaginary sweat from his forehead. Thankfully, Robin was a calm and respectful man. Right now, Robin stood before the large windows in a dimly lit lounge that had a beautiful view of the hotel gardens and recreation centers scattered around the premises. He silently commended how the board members had grown the hotel into the massive force it was now. However, he needed to beat this. His assigned project must blow them off their feet. As he admired the work of art before him, the door was pushed open and two security officers stepped in while escorting Jane and Diego into the lounge.

  • True Power 2

“What do you mean he has to access the elevator? Are you trying to buy time until you can escape, huh?” the manager snarled angrily, while clicking his tongue in disdain. He hated scammers the most. He had gotten to, this position just by the way he fished out bad people. His works spoke for him and he was promoted. His direct boss trusted him with issues like this. “I am not trying to buy time. I didn't do anything wrong after all.” Robin shrugged. “All I want is for him to access the elevator and prove to us he is supposed to be here.”Ethan pursed his lips, realizing it wasn't a big deal. He had accessed the elevator that morning and he could do it again. However, the manager wasn't in tune with it at all, “You have no right to order a guest here–”“Don’t worry, I will do it.” Ethan stepped forward. “This is just to prove that this man here is a scammer. He has no right to be here and should be thrown out.”“I am a good person and I cannot stand for the wrong thing.” He puffed u

“Bah!” The staff member slammed his hands on his thighs, as if he were expecting Ethan to say that. “I knew it! Men like him who are not in tune with reality think they can pass off as rich!”“I guess he has seen just how much wealth can give and he wants to taste it.” Ethan joined in, however, his eyes flickered to Robin scornfully. He tilted his head to the side, silently anticipating what Robin was going to do next. “What would you like us to do to him? I will immediately inform the hotel’s manager.” The staff chimed in, waiting on Ethan’s order like he was god. All the while, Robin stood back, silently staring at Ethan and the staff as they discussed his appropriate punishment. The other staff members had dispersed to get the hotel manager. But Robin had no such patience to wait around. “What if I can access this elevator?” He asked. “No, you can’t!” The staff barked. “You measly cleaner, still trying to act like you are some big shot? Are you out of your mind?”“I bet you ca

  • A Cleaner In Eastbourne

Robin stared at the TV screen for long minutes, deeply regretting he had let her go last night. He was sure she had gone to Carla’s mansion after she stepped out of the Sky International Hotel. “Can you confirm her whereabouts? Use every single resource you can get! Find her!” He shot up to his feet and his swivel chair skidded backward. “Where are you going?” Mason asked hurriedly. “I need to confirm if the Davenson family has her myself.” He said seriously. From the reports he got from Mason that morning, Diego and Jane had not left the hotel since the event ended last night. They were probably too scared to go back to Eastbourne, after all, the news of their destruction which would be starting soon would be waiting for them. “I don’t think that is a wise decision.” Mason opposed. “The Davensons are in a bad place right and I don't think they would want to do something like this.”“But we never can tell.” Robin sneered and he took his suit jacket to put on. “Those people could
