A silent stare, one that was filled with thorns and knives followed Robin as he gracefully roamed through the party hall, greeting guests alongside the chairman.

It was a slap to Brother West’s face as it felt like Robin, a bastard who had appeared from nowhere with his father had taken his place.

West wanted to yank him away and throw him out of the party hall but his hands were tied. If he made a reckless move, he would lose favor in the sight of his old father.

On the other hand, Robin followed the old man around, greeting the guests. This wasn't just an announcement that he was the old man’s close-knit, it was something more that could displace Brother West in his place.

Robin had never had a conversation with the old man about such a placement but he silently followed the old man’s directives.

“This is the chairman of Wells Reserve.” The old man introduced, as they stood before a well-polished middle-aged man. For a split second, Robin regretted not dressing up formally for s

The standoff between Chairman Wells and the old man quickly caught the attention of everyone seated. Two business tycoons now opposing each other wasn't a good sight to behold. “Why are you so worked up, old man Black?” Chairman Wells snorted, redirecting his anger at the old man. “You only asked me to assess Robin last night at your party, I never endorsed him as my candidate!”Unfortunately, Chairman Wells was right. However, his words made the men even more uncomfortable. “You assessed Robin, last night?” The prime minister raised his brow, clearly disappointed that Wells wasn't straightforward. “And what did you say about him?”All eyes immediately turned on Wells. “Well…” He groaned in discomfort. “I commended him, however, it didn't mean he would be my candidate for the board.”“Agreed.” The prime minister nodded. “But you shouldn't have stepped foot in that party to show your support if you had no interest in him. You have shot yourself in the foot, Wells.”“But–”“No more

  • Taking Control

“Brother West, that’s enough. Let’s not concern ourselves with people of the past.” The mayor spoke up while sending a condescending gaze straight at Robin. “Yes, yes, you are right. Come with me.” Brother West let out a happy laugh, clearly, his ego had been massaged so well and as they walked in, the silence descended on Robin. No, he wasn't hurt. He was calm, too calm for the kind of embarrassment and betrayal he had just gone through. However, he was going to use their mockery as a stepping stone. He promptly walked out and at the entrance, he met up with Mason who already had a pile of information for him. However, Mason quickly led him straight to a hotel suite he booked immediately he realized something had gone wrong. “Did we miss something on our part?” Robin asked as he settled into the luxurious hotel suite. “Yes, we did.” Mason nodded with a grim look. “What?” Robin pursed his lips with a serious expression. “Did the old man do this?” “No.” Mason shook his head. “Ch

Gloating followed Robin as he was ushered out of the waiting room. He reached the mini reception created for the board where the other attendants were stationed and the smiles that spread across their faces were taunting. But he kept his cool…“Everyone! Why don’t you come in and have some refreshments?” Brother West called out from behind, and as quickly as he called them, the attendants rushed after him, smiling happily. He thought they were well trained but it didn't seem so. They were vain and easily swayed. As he stood by the reception, he took out the silver-plated pass he had, wondering if old man Black had given him this on purpose. But then the gold-plated pass was only given to the members and not outsiders! How then did Brother West get his?Time was ticking and even though he may have been tricked, it didn't mean he would give up this opportunity to become a board member! “Mason!” He tapped the bud in his right ear. • The Gold Plated Pass

Nighttime came, and speculations around Robin were still going on. The gossip of him taking the place of the five biological children of the Blackman was also on the lips of the netizens. Keyboard warriors bashing him for spurting out of nowhere and wanting to greedily reap the benefits. However, all those degrading words thrown at him didn't even go through his thick skin. “So far so good, your father hasn't responded to any of the news. Only a few people know you are from the Davenson family of Eastbourne City…” Mason reported, sitting in the car passenger seat. “How is he fairing?” Robin was quite interested in how his father was taking the news. “It’s bad.” Mason let out a sly smirk, a mirror one his boss would have when their enemies crumble. “Your father is currently cooped up in the Davenson mansion with his mistress raking down the whole place.”“Ethan is also at the mercy of his mother since his business had failed.” “Good.” Robin smiled, his plans were setting in motion

The next day… The news of the chairman of Julls Corp hit the internet. Not only was Julls Corp founded five years ago, but it became the rave and was the lips of every business person. It was an impressive accomplishment and even though most people believed the company was greatly backed by the Blackman family, no one dared to question the hardwork put into building it. Robin’s face was plastered all over news outlets in the city and all over the country. But aside from being the chairman of Julls Corp, there was something more to his name. “Won’t your family react when they see the news?” Mason asked as he drove Robin straight to the Julls Corp tower. In the backseat, Robin sat back with a smile, one that hid the intricate calculations going on in his mind. The Davenson family would surely be mad that another powerful family had named Robin as the next heir. After all, his father wanted him back. However, he was confident that they wouldn’t react, or else it would create a lot o
