Aiden nodded immediately.
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry sir," he said at the sudden recognition, taking the secretary by surprise."My apologies, Mr Cox. If I knew that you were around, I would have come downstairs myself. Please come in sir," he said as he let Aiden in.Aiden looked at the secretary and smirked before he got in.“W..wait, sir. He..” She wanted to say something but finally swallowed it.Brandy was such a tough boss, but here he was apologizing to a man who was in a mere T-shirt.“I’m…I'm sorry, as well.” Her face was pale.“Could you leave us now?” He shrugged. It’s interesting to see people change their face in the blink of an eye.He turned to Brandy. "Please what happened to your phone Mr Brandy? Why couldn’t I reach you?”“Oh, boss, please, call me Brandy. For you, it's simply Brandy. And for my phone, It’s h…ere.” He quickly searched for it, bringing it out totally dead.Aiden sighed slightly. He knew he had an appointment today, shy would he allow his phone to go off. Aiden had wanted to say that loud, but he ended up mumbling to himself."Never mind. So what is this about?" Aiden asked, grabbing a seat. "The sudden money, this appointment, I want to know more.""Sir, are you familiar with the late President Maxwell?" Brandy asked first."Of course I am," Aiden answered, quite inquisitive. "He was such a nobleman before the cold hands of death snatched him.""He was your father's uncle." Aiden was quiet for a while, as he tried to process what Brandy had just spilled."But I don't have any family alive, nor did I know that I had a whole president for a relative," Aiden stated."There are a lot you don't know boss, and that is the purpose of this meeting," Brandy said as he reached out for the telephone that sat on the desk.He tapped on some numbers, pressed the phone to his ears and listened."You can come in now," he said to the person on the other side of the line. The door opened and a young man walked in. He had a portfolio with him that made it look like he harbored important information."This was his lawyer, Dakota," Brandy decided in a snappy interview as he pointed Dakota to a seat beside Aiden. "He is here to brief you on your inheritance," he added.Dakota then turned to speak to Aiden as he read through a file that he had taken out."In the absence of any other relatives, the deceased president Maxwell has decided that the entire Cox consortium would go to you, Aiden Cox," he began. He then put the file away and faced Aiden squarely."Aside from the hundred million dollars that was credited to your account as a tip of the iceberg, you also have an empire ranking in trillions of dollars in your name," he continued."Are you talking about Vuitton?" Aiden asked."Vuitton is only one of the biggest businesses under the Cox consortium," Dakota corrected immediately."There are other businesses owned by the late president Maxwell including the Jex automobiles and the Unicorn Inc., to mention but a few," Dakota continued."Once you take over the consortium, you will be officially moved into the forty thousand square feet mansion, where you have a full garage of cars and access to everything that you would be needing," he added.Aiden's eyes widened in surprise as he listened to what he thought was the biggest dream of his life."I'm sorry but this is too much for me to process," he said after a brief silence."You don't have to worry about anything because I and Dakota are going to hold you by the hand and walk you through the entire process," Brandy reassured him."First things first, you will have to sign ownership of everything to your name," Dakota said as he took out a document and placed it before him, but did not give him a pen.Aiden looked from Brandy to Dakota. They both bore similar looks on their faces."What is it?" Aiden asked, already suspecting that something was amiss."You know," Brandy began. "Before President Maxwell died, he asked us to make sure of one thing.""What is it?" He asked, already sensing that it was not going to be something that great."He demanded that before you take over the consortium, you would have to get married," Dakota said."Of course, I would eventually get married in the future," he said excitedly, oblivious as to what was happening."I'm sorry Aiden, but President Maxwell already has a girl prepared for you," Dakota finally blurted out.

They continued with their meal and were still involved in their little argument when the restaurant door slid open. The restaurant was soon filled with noisy chatters as some boys walked in. Aiden was the first to look up, and he could not believe his eyes when he saw Jason and Melvin. He would have picked up his bag and slid out of the restaurant immediately, but Melvin had seen him already. Melvin was surprised to see him among so many girls as he did not think that Aiden was one to have the attention of all the ladies he was sitting with. He was particularly annoyed, because May, the most beautiful girl in college, was seated with him. All the guys admired her, and she was the cynosure of all eyes. Even her fellow female students thought that she was breathtaking. For the longest time, he had been trying to ask her to be his girlfriend, but she had refused all his advances and gestures. She even went ahead to call him a jerk. He had not given up so easily. He had even bought he

The board members still sat in the boardroom as they thought about what had just happened. They could not believe that they were almost on the verge of losing their jobs. Even President Maxwell had never threatened them with their jobs before. They knew that their new chairman, despite being a young boy, was going to be dangerous as well.“I think we all need to come up with a solution to salvage this situation because our new boss is not one to take any nonsense,” Mr. Adams, who was the most outspoken man among them, decided to break the ice after the long silence. “There is nothing to do here, but for us to sit up, and start putting in our best for this company,” Mr Henry, a stout man in his mid-fifties, said. “I agree with you,” Mrs Floyd, a rather attractive woman for the age of fifty-two, concurred. “I mean, we have been working in this company for so many years, receiving fat salaries, but have been doing the least work. This should be an eye-opener for us to under that we oug

Brandy went silent immediately at his request. Dakota was with him as well, and they did not seem to understand why he would want to take such a drastic measure against those companies. “Are you sure about this sir?” Brandy asked him and Dakota was listening as well. “The immediate action that you are requesting will ruin a lot of things for them.”“I don't care,” Aiden said ruthlessly. “As long as no life is going to be lost in this process, I want you to do all that you can to ensure that they are ruined. I want them to begin to beg for survival, and I want it to be done immediately,” he insisted. “If this is about something that they did, we can fix it without having to go this far,” Dakota chipped in. “Brandy,” Aiden called out. “You have never questioned me since you started working for me, so don't start now.”“Your wish is my command,” Brandy finally said. “Good. Now, arrange for the board of directors meeting, and send me that driver so that I can be there in fifteen minut

Aiden was not too enthusiastic to go to school the next day because of all the judgments that he had been receiving lately. He wished he could just stay home and be in bed all day, but he needed the degree to rub his company better. As he stepped down from the cab, an unfamiliar voice hollered at him. He turned around immediately to see who it was, and it was as though his gloomy day was brightened up in a second. He had never seen anyone as beautiful as the girl who was waving at him right now. She was fair with delicate facial features that looked like she was created on a special day. Her hair ran in long full waves that settled below her waist and she had a curvy frame that was outlined by the small dress that she wore. He stopped walking and waited for her to walk towards him. She had some books on the crook of her arm, and when she walked, her hair bounced behind her, making her movement beautiful to watch. He had not seen her before around campus and he wondered if she was a

“See who we have here,” Aiden said with a fake hand clap as he looked at the manager who was standing before him in shock. “You called me a thief and ordered for me to be thrown out of your mall, right? But here you are, running an errand that you could have easily asked one of your staff to carry out,” he continued. “I am very sorry for what happened back then. I was just trying to be very careful of thieves,” the manager said. “That does not give you the right to judge a book by its cover,” Aiden insisted. The manager did not know what to do anymore to appease Aiden. He knew that if he secured Aiden, the CEO of Vuitton Co, his business would hit the roof. He fell to his knees immediately and clasped his hands together in a kind of submission. “What are you doing?” Aiden asked him, taken by surprise. “I know that I have offended you, but please, don't let my offense stop you from doing business with me,” the manager pleaded. Aiden looked at him intently for a while, as though h
Chapter 24
By the next day in school, everyone already knew about the lottery that Aiden won as the news spread like wildfire. As usual, everyone had their opinion about how he spent the money. Some of the students, mostly those who have benefited from the scholarship scheme in the past commended him for his efforts and sacrifice. However, other students thought that it was foolish of him to donate all his money to charity. As Aiden stepped into the school that morning, all eyes were on him. Some looked at him with admiration, while others looked at him with disgust. He decided that he was not going to pay any attention to anyone and just move on with his business of the day. Before he could enter the lecture hall, Helen, the departmental head of the students' board summoned him into their meeting. Helen had been of help to him in the past. As the departmental head, she was responsible for the welfare of the students in the department. She mostly helped those students who were charity cases
