Chapter 23: The Deal in the Shadows.

The subordinate dropped his glass on the table. “Very well then. We’ll consider your proposal.”

Robert frowned. “Consider it?”

“You’ll receive the financial support we’ve agreed upon once the information has been verified. As for your appointment, that will depend on whether you can deliver what you’ve promised.”

It was the unconditional guarantee Robert had wanted but it was enough to keep his hopes alive. “And your people will support my appointment?”

Chapter 37: Let Them Think They’ve Won. Elena paused, then added. “Most importantly, Julian will eventually have to respond once he discovers what Victor and Elena has done behind his back.”Adam’s expression changed slightly. “You want to turn their betrayal against them?”“Exactly. Julian is an already suspicious of the Phantom Syndicate, and Elena has begun building her own faction. They’re too busy protecting their interest that they failed to see that they’re creating an opportunity for us.”Emma placed the tablet on the table. “If we expose everything now, we’ll only stop one attack. If we let them move forward we might uncover the entire network.”Adam condidered her proposal. There were risks. Allowing the fabricated evidence to reach the authorities could place Emma under considerable pressure, and the suppliers withdrawal could temporarily interrupt Turner Group’s operations. But Emma wasn’t proposing that they abandon their defenses. She wanted to control how far the oper

Chapter 36: Let Them Think The’ve Won It was past midnight when Adam received the intelligence report. He was seated in the living room with his laptop opened when an encrypted notification appeared on the screen. He read through the intercepted communication, then opened the accompanying audio files. Victor’s voice came first. A few seconds later, Elena’s voice followed. Adam leaned back, listening carefully. By the time the recording finished, he had already understood the implications. Elena had made her move. She closed the audio file and picked up his phone. “Henry, send me the complete financial report on Victor’s latest operation. I want every document our people have recovered.” The response came immediately. “It’s already prepared, young master. I’ll send them now.” Adam ended the call. Across the room, Emma appeared from the hallway wearing a loose house robe. She had been reviewing the following day’s schedule im their bedroom when she noticed the light beneath the

Chapter 35: Elena’s Secret Bargain. The capital was already settling into the evening when Elena stepped onto the balcony of her penthouse. Below her, the city stretched into a distance, it’s skyline illuminated by countless lights. A champagne glass rested between her fingers as she studied the intelligence report displayed on her tablet. The report was about Julian. For years, Elena had maintained a position close to him.Their interests aligned after she joined hands with Julian to orchestrate Adam’s accident, and she had used that alliance to secure several powerful business circles. But lately, something had changed. Julian’s attention had become increasingly divided. His usual confidence had given way to suspicion and his recent fixation on the mysterious phantom syndicate had begun affecting decisions that once came naturally to him. The syndicate had acquired substantial portion of the Vance family’s financial obligations without revealing its true ownership. Julian had be

Chapter 34: Victor’s Last Gamble.Victor’s hotel suite looked as though it had been ransacked. A glass laid shattered beside the sofa, documents were scattered across the carpet, and one of the chairs had been thrown against the wall. The curtain remained drawn despite the sunlight outside. He paced between the desk and the windows, his phone clenched in one hand. Julian’s last words continued to echo in his mind. “I want a complete report on Adam Carter.” Victor stopped walking. He had spent weeks trying to understand the unseen force dismantling his operations. Vance's family withdrawal, Robert’s failed attempt to undermine Emma, and the collapse of the supply blockade had all pointed towards an opponent who understood his methods. But Julian’s reaction to Adam’s name had been different. There’s something about the man that his employer didn’t want him investigating casually. Victor had more immediate problems. He had failed Julian once, he couldn’t afford to fail him again. Vi

Chapter 33: The Eyes in the Capital. The next morning, Adam found Emma already seated at the dining table reviewing some documents on her tablet. She had barely touched her food. “Are you going to spend the entire morning looking at your screen?” he asked, taking the seat opposite her. Emma looked up and held his gaze. “I’m reviewing the operational budget, the expansion has increased our expenses, and I want to make sure we are not overlooking anything.” Adam poured himself a cup of coffee. “How much of the current project depends on external suppliers?” “Too much. The canal arrangement has reduced our dependence on major transport companies, but we’re still vulnerable when it comes to raw materials and specialized equipment." “Then that’s where you should start from.” Emma put down her tablet. “I’ve already asked the procurement department to identify alternative suppliers. However, replacing our current agreements won’t be easy. Some of the contracts have penalti

Chapter 32: The Partial Confession. The following evening, Adam found himself unusually quiet. He had spent most of the day reviewing reports from Henry, but his attention kept returning to the conversation he had shared with Emma the previous night. She had noticed the inconsistencies in his behavior. His knowledge of business, his instincts during difficult negotiations, and the way he handled unexpected situation were no longer things she could easily dismiss. He knew Emma wouldn’t forgot what she had seen even though she agreed to drop the situation. More importantly, he didn’t want her to. When he entered the kitchen, Emma was standing beside the counter, arranging the dishes for dinner. She glanced at him briefly before returning her attention to the plates. She had always handled cooking and cleaning the dishes on her off days from work. “You’re unusually quiet today,” she remarked. “Am I?” “More than usual.” Adam pulled out a chair and sat down. His finge
