When he woke up, Ethan was lying in a hospital room with a female nurse diligently taking notes: "May I ask, what time is it now?"

With his weak, hoarse voice, Ethan asked the nurse. At that moment, the nurse seemed startled and hurriedly turned to look at him, her face showing a layer of red blush, embarrassed.

"Oh, you're awake now? I warned you earlier, but you didn't listen. How do you feel now? Are you much better?"

As if trying to avoid her embarrassment, the nurse quickly hid the paper behind her back and incessantly inquired about Ethan's health. Ethan didn't notice the nurse's confusion; instead, he looked around at the walls, then asked a seemingly unrelated question: "How long have I been here? Who brought me here?"

Whether Ethan was dizzy from blood loss or troubled by something in his heart was unclear. At that moment, there was no light in his eyes, only a layer of hazy, dark, and desperate mist.

"You've been here for over an hour. A man named Toshan brought you here earlier. He said you fainted and needed to rest for a while, even paying extra to stay in the hospital for a few more days."

Hearing the nurse recount this story, a sarcastic smile appeared on Ethan's face, making it unclear whether he was mocking himself or the man who had just tried to steal his wife and had brought him to this place.

However, Ethan had no intention of staying in the hospital overnight. He was in a terrible mood and wanted to go out and clear his head.

That's why he quickly got up, put on the jacket on the bed, and hurried out.

"Hey, where are you going?" the nurse asked: "I told you, you need to stay here and rest. What if you faint again? Who will be responsible then?"

"Ha ha, responsible?" Ethan laughed loudly after hearing the nurse. He shook his head and said: "Don't worry, nurse! I have many things to do and don't want to die that easily!"

Ethan quickly left the hospital corridor without waiting for the nurse to respond. However, after walking for a while, he suddenly saw Toshan and Melanie talking in the hallway outside the ward.

Although he couldn't hear what they were saying, Ethan felt an unbearable pain in his heart. He thought his years of devotion to his wife were worth nothing compared to that unfaithful man who had abandoned her.

Finally, Ethan decided to leave and no longer cared about his unfaithful wife.

However, someone didn't want him to go. Just as Ethan was about to get into a taxi, he heard a mocking laugh from behind.

"Oh, Ethan, why aren't you staying in the hospital to be cared for by the nurse? Why are you going out at this time? I just finished talking to your wife. I didn't expect her to remember our past so clearly after all these years. You wouldn't know, but we once did some amazing things together. Oh, and you wouldn't be surprised, right? After all, your wife's first time was with me!"

Hearing Toshan's provocative and mocking words, Ethan finally stopped and stared at him.

"What did you just say? Repeat it!"

Seeing Ethan's furious expression, Toshan not only showed no fear, but he laughed even louder.

"Ha ha ha, are you angry? Come on, try to hit me! Let me tell you, your wife and I had sex before. Not just once but many times. Moreover, she was very proactive and served me passionately in various positions. I don't think she treats you the same way, right? Because she doesn't love you!"

"You..."

At that moment, Ethan couldn't hold back any longer. He lunged forward and punched Toshan straight in the face.

Don't be fooled by how much he seems to tolerate and accept the humiliation from his mother-in-law, not uttering a single word of protest. But once enraged, he becomes a madman.

Moreover, with the support of Artificial Superintelligence, Ethan's movements were highly decisive and swift and didn't give Toshan any chance to fight back.

Bam!

A punch struck like lightning, landing right in Toshan's nose, causing him to hold his face in pain and roar.

"Ah, you bastard, you dare hit me?"

But as Toshan cried out, Ethan's fists showed no sign of stopping.

"I'll beat you and kill you, you scoundrel! Who do you think you are? Just because you're my wife's ex, do you think you have the right to humiliate her? I'll kill you, you bastard!"

The more he hit, the more furious Ethan became. Toshan never expected that, despite his more diminutive stature, Ethan would be so ruthless, leaving him no choice but to clutch his head and wail.

"Ah, you bastard, you dare hit the man who saved your wife and her father?"

At this moment, Mabel hurriedly rushed out, calling for security and seizing the opportunity to pull Ethan away from Toshan.

Seeing his mother-in-law appear, Ethan finally stopped. His lips trembled, and he whispered: "Mother..."

Slap!

Before he could finish, a slap like a thunderbolt from Mabel struck his face, leaving five bright red finger marks.

"You bastard, get out of my sight! How dare you lay a hand on the future son-in-law of the Edwards family? Only my blind daughter would marry a scoundrel like you. From now on, don't let me see your face again, or I'll call the police and have you arrested and thrown in jail!"

Hearing Mabel's furious roar, Ethan couldn't help but laugh wildly, looking up at the sky.

Then, with shaky steps, he turned and left, his laughter tinged with a touch of bitterness.

He remembered a similar time in his life...

'Ethan, you're just a bastard. What right do you have to inherit the Alexander family's fortune? Get out of here now!'

From within the Alexander family's mansion, Ethan's figure staggered out, his eyes red and watery, and tears not yet dried on his cheeks.

'Ha ha ha, a bastard with a mouth reeking of milk, and you want to compete with me, fight for the inheritance with my son? It's beyond ridiculous, ha ha ha!'

In Ethan's head, the taunting laughter of his wicked stepmother, the woman who had pushed his mother into an abyss and monopolized the entire Alexander family's fortune, echoed.

"You're a scoundrel. You dare leave me, abandon me in this place. I hate you!"

As Ethan wandered along, his gaze suddenly caught a frail figure staggering and swaying on the bridge railing, her voice filled with resentment, laughing and crying, howling to the heavens.

"Hey, what are you planning to do? The water below is deep, if you jump, it won't be a pretty sight!"

"Who are you? What do you want? What does it matter to you if I die? Just leave!"

Seeing the unfamiliar man approaching, the girl standing on the bridge railing became furious. However, Ethen showed no intention of stopping, and his pace quickened, causing her to panic.

"What do you want? You can't come here! If you do... if you do... I'll jump!"

Ethen couldn't help but find it amusing that someone attempting suicide would threaten to jump off a bridge.
