All five of them glared at Scott, and suddenly, they charged toward him in anger.

Five bodyguards lunged toward Scott like lions attacking their prey. Their muscles flexed, ready to crush him in the middle.

But they were too slow.

Scott’s eyes narrowed. His military instincts, that was honed through years of brutal warzones, kicked in immediately. Time slowed down for him as his body moved with precision. He ducked beneath the first swing, spun low, and drove his elbow into a guard’s ribs—CRACK!

The man gasped and collapsed instantly, writhing on the floor in pain.

Another came from the side with a wide hook punch.

Scott caught the punch mid-air.

A shift of weight. A twist of his hips. And a brutal uppercut to the guard’s chin, causing him to be cast backwards, his head hitting a pillar and he collapsed at once.

The man dropped, unconscious before he even hit the ground.

Laura screamed. “Stop it! Someone stop him!”

Gale stood frozen, his mouth slightly open, stunned at the what was happening in front of him.

Two more guards came at once thinking that with a combined force they could take him down.

Scott sidestepped the first, grabbed the second by the collar, and used his momentum to hurl him straight into the other like bowling pins. Both collapsed in a heap, groaning from pain. He walked over to one of them who was still conscious and stepped on his face.

ThuMp!!

Laura gasped from shock. Gale’s mouth opened even wider without control.

Only one remained.

This one hesitated. He was the biggest of them all—over six feet tall, his body packed with muscle—but now his eyes were reddened from fear of what he had seen happened to his colleagues.

Scott straightened, his chest rising and falling. No heavy breathing. No signs of exhaustion, it looked like he  didn’t even move a muscle before defeating them.

“Come,” Scott said calmly, calling him forth with a wave of his fingers.

That was all it took.

The fifth guard charged but his movements were angry, reckless.

Scott side-stepped, grabbed him by the shirt, and with a single clean motion, flipped him over his shoulder. The man slammed into the tiled floor with a loud, final thump that made even Laura cover her ears.

Silence…

Five bodyguards were all down. Groaning, twitching, or unconscious. Scott hadn’t broken a sweat.

Gale stumbled back, mouth trembling. “What… what the hell are you?”

Laura, wide-eyed, clutched the doorway like it was the only thing keeping her upright. “This… This is impossible…”

Scott took a step forward, his movement was slow. “You’ve taken everything from me. But today…” He paused, his voice growing colder and sharper as he spoke the last few words. “You will give it back.”

“You think you can just walk in here, beat up some guards and make demands?” Gale snapped, but his voice cracked in the middle. He was shaken by fear of what he had just seen Scott do, but he was trying his best to regain his composure.

“You owe me everything,” Scott said, stepping even closer. “Every dollar, every title, every lie you built was off my back.”

Gale’s lips quivered. “This is insane…”

Laura crossed her arms, masking her fear with coldness. “You’re delusional, Scott Grayson. You’re not getting anything back. You’re nothing but a convicted—”

She didn’t finish.

Instead, she reached into a folder on the console beside her and tossed a stack of papers toward him.

Scott caught them from the air, frowning as he wondered what it contained.

“Divorce papers,” she said coldly. “Sign them. Officially free me. I want no connection with a criminal like you.”

The sting of her words cut through his chest like a blade. Scott didn’t flinch, but inside, it hit harder than any punch.

“I went to prison for you,” he said softly.

“Don’t twist the past,” Laura hissed. “You chose to go. I didn’t force you. Did I?”

“You begged me,” Scott shot back. “You cried. You said you'd never forgive yourself if I didn’t help. I took the fall. And what did I get in return? A grave you dug while I was gone.”

She said nothing. But the lack of remorse in her eyes was the answer.

Gale, still fuming and red-faced, pulled out his phone. “I’m done with this circus. I’m calling military. You’re trespassing, and we’ll have you arrested this time for real.”

Scott tilted his head, with a calm look on his face. Did Gale just threaten him with calling the military?

He took one step forward. “Go ahead.”

“I will—”

Gale dialed the number quickly, believing that they were the only force that could stop Scott and throw him out of his house. It didn’t take long. Gale Harrington was a very respected man in the country and had lots of connections. The military easily heed to his call.

In about ten minutes later, Scott heard heavy boots echoed from behind him.

Four soldiers entered through the wide-open doorway, fully armed, in desert-tan combat uniforms.

Gale smiled with full confidence and pride. “That’s right. You’re done now, Scott Grayson. Say goodbye. How about you touch a man in uniform and get thrown into prison for the second time.” He chuckled.

The lead soldier walked forward, a young officer with sharp eyes and an arrogant trait. He looked Scott up and down with obvious hatred, then grabbed him by the collar roughly.

“You’re coming with us,” he barked. “You think you can assault people and walk free? Do you even know who this man is? This is Gale Harrignton, one of the richest men in the country, how dare you try to threaten him?!.”

Scott stayed still, looking the soldier in the eye. The soldier was shocked at how confident and bold Scott was. He didn’t tremble or plead or seem afraid.

“Let go,” he said quietly to the soldier.

The soldier scoffed. “What are you going to do if I don’t let go? You gonna cry?”

He reached behind Scott, unzipped the old military backpack on his shoulder, intending to mock whatever was inside.

But the moment his fingers touched the edge of a neatly folded military uniform and his eyes fell on the rank tag stitched on the collar, he froze.

Everything changed instantly.

The soldier’s fingers trembled. His mouth fell open in total confusion and shock. His eyes darted back to the name tag.

General Scott Grayson.

He stepped back, his hands shaking terribly in fear. He had just tried to intimidate the War Machine, his superior.

“Wait…” he whispered. “This… This can’t be…”

Another soldier stepped forward, confused. “What is it?”

“It's… It’s him,” the first soldier stammered. “The God of War.”

The others stiffened.

The officer’s voice dropped to a whisper. “His rank… it’s fifteen levels higher than mine.”

Panic gripped them all at once.

The soldier stepped back, his eyes wide open. “I—I didn’t recognize you, General. Forgive me.”

Gale frowned, unable to hear their conversation, but he wondered what they were doing, standing they and talking to Scott calmly. “What are you doing? Arrest him!”

The soldier snapped his fingers to the others. “Stand down. Everyone. Step back.”

“But—” Gale tried again.

“I said stand down!”

The other soldiers obeyed instantly.

Laura and Gale stood, dumbfounded.

Scott met the officer’s gaze and gave a subtle wink, a silent gesture that said, “Don’t blow my cover.”

The soldier stiffened and nodded respectfully, understanding the message.

Without another word, the four soldiers backed away and walked toward the exit in silence, heads bowed.

Laura turned sharply toward Gale. “What’s going on? Why are they leaving? Why are they scared of him?”

“I—I don’t know!” Gale stammered. “They’re supposed to arrest him!”

“Hey, come back here!” Gale shouted to the soldiers but no one answered him.

Laura’s face turned pale.

Freya sat at her desk, her elbows resting on the smooth surface while her fingers tapped lightly against the edge of a file she wasn’t even reading. Her eyes were fixed on the computer screen, but her mind was miles away from anything work-related. The cursor blinked on an empty document. Her thoughts were tangled — looping back to the same problem over and over again. How was she supposed to get Scott’s phone? He never left it lying around. Not once. He carried his phone everywhere, either in his hand or tucked neatly into the pocket of his trousers. He treated it like an extension of himself, a necessary tool he couldn’t afford to misplace. That, for Freya, was a nightmare. She needed the CEO’s number — Richard Thornton’s direct contact — and she needed it now. If she didn’t get it, the deal between Skyview Horizon and ABC Technologies would go through without interference, and Scott’s company would gain a level of influence. She couldn’t let that happen. Not after all the effort sh

Freya arrived at ABC Technologies before the building had fully opened. The air inside still carried the faint scent of floor polish, and the lights along the hallway glowed with that sleepy, early-morning dimness. She had barely slept a wink, yet her face showed none of it. The dull ache behind her eyes, the heaviness in her limbs, the constant buzz of exhaustion — she hid it all beneath the calm mask she had mastered long ago.Her desk sat neatly by the large window at the far end of the corridor. She dropped her bag there and sat for a moment, just long enough to let the chair take her weight. She rubbed her temple briefly and exhaled, thinking back to the hours she’d spent the previous night combing through files and trying to trace one name — Richard Thornton. But still she wasn't able to get the direct contact of the man or find any way to reach him directly.Every attempt had hit a wall. Thornton’s number wasn’t public, and the company directories were locked tighter than a vau
