DING!

The familiar chime of the system buzzed faintly in Kai’s ears. He stirred from his sleep. His eyes opened slowly to the dull morning light leaking through his window. The digital interface blinked gently before him.

“System Alert: Critical Political Shift Detected in Ironsphire Academy.”

Kai sat up immediately. “Warning: The Council has been overthrown. Top Ten Elites have seized control. High Warden Talor now holds supreme authority. Do not interfere yet. Await further instruction.”

Kai’s eyes narrowed.

“What?” he muttered. “How did this happen overnight?”

He leapt to his feet and pulled aside the curtain. Outside, the academy grounds were still. It was oldly calm after the chaos of the previous day’s protest. His fists clenched. “I was sleeping, and they made their move...”

But the system buzzed again. “Stand down, Kai. Observation mode initiated. Do not act. The sequence must play out.”

Kai gritted his teeth. “Fine… but I don’t like this.”

The emergency meeting was called less than an hour after the battlefield was secured. Kai was not invited, but he stood outside the command hall when the senior officers entered. Their faces were tight. Inside, Commander Draegon stood at the head of the table. Several senior officers from Vanguard sat on one side. Across from them were liaison officers connected to central command. The atmosphere was tense.“This incident cannot be ignored,” one Vanguard officer said. “Blackthorn fired live ammunition.”“And no Vanguard cadets died,” a liaison replied. “That matters.”“They almost did,” another officer snapped. “A hill collapsed with soldiers on it.”“The official statement from Blackthorn is automation failure,” the liaison said. “Central command is inclined to accept it.”Commander Draegon folded his arms. “Accepting it does not make it true.”“It makes it manageable,” the liaison answered. “Escalation is not an option. Blackthorn has allies watching this closely.”“So we pretend t

His System interface flared to life in his vision.[Scanning battlefield.][Projectile trajectory detected.][Threat Status Updated: Live Combat Detected.]Kai felt his pulse steady instead of spike. • Chapter 145: War Games Begin

Commander Draegon started explaining the operation details of the massive mock war between Vanguard and their rival base, Blackthorn. Every recruit felt the pressure. This was not just a simulation. Kai stood near his squad, double-checking his gear. His wrist pad blinked with pale blue light as the System came online.“System Notification: New Mission, War Game Directive: Secure and hold Hill 47 for full duration. Reward: Tactical Authority Boost. Failure: -10 Reputation and Squad Penalty.”Kai opened the mission map. Hill 47 was located at the far eastern border of the simulation zone. It was an open area with poor visibility and little natural cover. It was clear the commanders were testing him under disadvantageous conditions.Marek Sloan studied the map and frowned. “That position’s suicide, sir. We’ll be flanked from three sides.”Torrin folded his arms. “Figures they’d throw the ‘system boy’ to the wolves.”Lyle Craven smirked. “Let’s see if you can use your data tricks when t

  • Chapter 144: Trial of Trust

The base was restless after the raid. Conversations spread through every corridor, and Kai could feel the change in the air. Wherever he walked, whispers followed. Lyle Craven pointed as Kai passed the mess hall. “There goes the hero,” he said loudly. “Maybe the raid was part of his plan all along.” Vera Stone, sitting nearby, leaned in. “You don’t think he’d actually stage something like that?” Lyle shrugged. “It looked too convenient. He predicted every move, didn’t he? Maybe he already knew what was coming.” Kai stopped near their table. “If you have something to say, say it directly.” Vera tilted her head. “Relax, Commander’s favorite. I’m just talking.” System Alert: Reputation under threat – Counteraction required. Kai kept his expression calm. “If you believe I engineered a raid that killed our own, you can report it. Otherwise, stop spreading lies.” Lyle smirked. “You sound defensive.” Before Kai could respond, Riven entered the hall, his arm wrapped in a bandage. The

I had them!”Kai pushed him behind a crate and pointed at the field. “You were about to die. We can’t hold against live rounds.”Kai looked at her directly. “Then we fight smart, not loud. Follow my commands exactly.”The squad scra
