Soon enough he arrived at the kitchen, and he was breathing heavily since he had been running. He did not want to be late and lose his friends, so he had to hurry. 

He stopped at the door of the cafeteria and he could hear some noises and could immediately tell that there were some monsters inside. 

‘I can’t go in unarmed’ he thought and began looking around for a weapon or anything he could arm himself with. He could not find anything but  some stones on the ground, he gritted his teeth in annoyance knowing it was hopeless. But then he remembered how effective his skill was against the previous monster and then he picked up the stones as he thought of something.

Mave slammed the door open with his boots and the door opened widely immediately and as it did, Mave found four monsters already inside eating a corpse of one of the staffs. The dog like monsters looked at him and stopped eating, since they had found a new food  

They were just like the monster he had killed before, but these were five levels higher,  probably because they had eaten to level up. 

“Four F class level 10 monsters. Not a problem. Activate skill: enhanced strike” Mave yelled out the last statement as he held the stones he had picked up earlier and immediately the monsters all ran to him to pounce on him and devour him.

Mave with the unnatural prowess of his skill, launched the stones he held at the monsters and just as he had suspected,  the stones shot out like bullets from a pistol and pierced through the body of the monsters easily and they all dropped dead. Mave quickly absorbed the energy they had left and continued ahead.

*Maverick, E class, level 11.*

When he went through the next door.  He found Jiren holding a bat and having it to try defend against a pitch black Monster dog, it was slightly bigger than the rest of the monster dogs he had encountered so far and he immediately looked at the rank. “ Monster (XXX), D rank level 1” and Mave was surprised. He looked at the monster and knew that it had probably eaten quite a lot of people for it to have ranked this much. 

Jiren was bleeding and was spotting a few wounds on his body. Mave looker around and saw that some dead body of monsters on the ground and knew that Jiren had probably fought bravely and killed them. There were still some dead bodies of some of his friends and teachers as well, probably the monster dogs doing. 

“Hey you!” Mave yelled to get the dogs attention and the moment it did,  he fired a stone to the head of the monster dog and it hit a bull’s-eye. Mave smirked since he knew it was his victory, because he had used his skill again. The monster dog fell down immediately but then got up whining from the pain of the stone but other than that, it was fine, much more angrier than before Even.

“what, it couldn’t penetrate the skin, how come?” Mave said in surprise as he watched the monster dog leave Jiren and focused on him with a subtle predatory growl. He pushed his thoughts to the system demanding answers immediately 

“”Higher ranked dogs are stronger than the others,  the level of your skill presently can not do significant fatal damage to it. You should be weary of this one”” the system said as it warned Mave. 

Mave cursed immediately under his breath as he listened to the system, 

‘I knew something was wrong here. This kind of monsters did not show up on the first day, only low level monsters did and he could easily dispatch those kinds of monsters, but not this.’

He focused on the monster dog again, who was now skulking him and ready to pounce at him at any moment. “Monster (Pack leader) , D rank,  level 10 (Anger buff)”  Mave’s eyes widened in surprise this time As he noticed the dogs change in stats. 

Mave didn’t think anymore, he just acted. Activating his skill again and launched the last three stones he was holding at the monster dog,  with all of his might. The stones shot out like bullets towards the monster dog but it quickly dodged them all by jumping out of the way before it charged at Mave. 

“Shit!” Maverick exclaimed and quickly jumped out of the way of the dog, using his skill Enhanced action to evade. Despite jumping out, the monster was just so fast that it was able to scratch Mave’s arms with its sharp claws and Mave started bleeding. 

The monster dog charged at Mave again and Mave tried to move, but he was too slow. The monster charged into him and sent him flying to crash against the wall and bruising Mave more with its claws and teeth. 

Mave realized that his skill did not activate and his body was feeling heavy.  That was why he was unable to effectively evade the monsters dogs attack. 

He screamed out physically and mentally. Physically out of pain and mentally at the system, demanding for help and more answers.

‘why the fuck can I not use my skills again?’

“”you are out of physically energy, you didn’t think your skills will come without a cost did you? You’ve been using it without reserve and you haven’t been at full strength “” the system said.

‘Shit! What can I do?’ he readied himself again, because the monster was already preparing to pounce on him again..

““figure it out yourself, don’t expect me to tell you everything. But I’ll give you just one help when the time is right.”” The system said and Mave cursed it mentally. Mave looked around and saw the bodies of the other monsters Jiren killed and he immediately thought of something .

‘yes, that can work. I just have to survive this one attack’
