"Objection, Your Honor! This testimony is rank hearsay and cannot be admitted as evidence in this court. The prosecution is attempting to build a case on baseless rumors and secondhand accounts."

The judge's expression turned thoughtful.

"Sustained. The court agrees with the defense. The testimony regarding Maria Rodriguez's statement is hearsay and lacks direct evidentiary value."

Ms. Patel's face remained composed. She didn’t even need to prove it. She just needed the jury to hear that piece of evidence, but she couldn’t let the judge know that.
