Michael walked up to the twins.
They turned to face him.
"Hey, what's up?" Michael asked, trying to sound casual.
"Hi," they said in unison as they sized Michael up from head to toe.
His short hair was disheveled, and his black eyes, which normally carried an uncaring glint, were now scanning the two girls with open interest.
"I'm Michael. I heard you guys talking about the Ground of Awakening. I just got here, so I was wondering if I could tag along?" he asked, going straight to the point.
"You're heading there too? Of course, you can tag along," the twin with the black hair said, sounding surprisingly welcoming.
Michael had thought it would be difficult trying to tag along with these two beauties.
"Aina!" Kaida chimed in, her voice cold but melodious.
The contrast between the warmth of the first twin's words and the chill in Kaida's tone was striking.
The girl with the black hair was Aina, and the one with the white hair was Kaida.
Two names that shared similar vowel sounds.
Well, Michael knew their names now.
So it wouldn’t be that easy tagging along after all, he thought, glancing at Kaida, who seemed distant.
"He’s just tagging along, Kaida. Do you always have to be so cold?" Aina said to her sister, sounding slightly dissatisfied.
Kaida didn’t reply.
She only stared at Michael coldly.
"Damn, what's with that look? I’m just tagging along, sister."
Michael didn’t say anything directly to Kaida.
He just smiled at her as if to say, I'm a good guy, you know.
Scaring me with a stare? Keep dreaming.
"You can tag along. She’s always like that," Aina said, turning back to him.
"So you have a map to the Ground of Awakening? That’s even better. It saves us a lot of stress," Michael glanced at Kaida, noticing she was about to say something.
Not wanting to lose his chance, he quickly cut in.
"Yeah, Kaida, open the map. Let’s head out," Aina said.
"Hmph." Kaida shot Michael another look but said nothing more.
His smile was annoying, so she focused on the map instead.
As they journeyed toward the Ground of Awakening, Michael noticed that many others were heading in the same direction, judging by the crowd’s movement.
It didn’t take long before he synchronized well with the twins.
They were around the same age, after all.
But the difference between them was as clear as daylight.
While Aina’s constant chatter and jokes filled the air, Kaida maintained an unyielding silence.
Michael found himself growing more comfortable around Aina, which was inevitable, given her personality.
Whenever he tried to include Kaida in the conversation, however, she simply remained silent.
He occasionally glanced at her, trying to read her expression, but her face remained indifferent.
Noticing Michael’s awkwardness, Aina leaned closer and whispered, "She’s always like that."
Michael just shrugged.
He didn’t really mind.
"Wow, so magnificent!" Aina suddenly exclaimed.
Michael’s train of thought was cut short.
"Is this the Ground of Awakening?" he asked, confused.
"Yeah. Welcome to the Ground of Awakening," Aina replied.
Ground of Awakening?
Tsk. This was a mountain.
Not a ground, a mountain, right in the middle of the city, and it felt magical.
The mountain was enormous, easily taller than any building in the city, almost piercing the sky.
The strange thing was that unless you reached the center of the city, you couldn’t see this structure from afar, which should have been impossible.
It was as if the mountain had been hidden from view, shrouded in a mysterious veil that only lifted once you entered the heart of the city.
As they approached the foot of the mountain, Michael’s eyes widened at the sea of people gathered there.
The crowd was massive, easily over fifty thousand people.
But what he saw next nearly made his eyes pop out.
"What are those?" Michael asked, pointing at the people nearby.
"Powers," Aina replied excitedly.
"What do you mean by powers?"
"Spirit weapons. That’s what we’re here for in the first place," Aina explained.
He stared in wonder at a guy who had awakened an axe that could retract and extend with swift precision.
A sword and a bow made of pure energy.
A staff glowing faintly.
These were weapons people could summon at any time to fight.
Michael felt excitement building inside him.
He had never seen anything like this before.
Aina nudged him.
"Come on. Let’s see what we’re capable of."
So he simply sat down cross-legged like everyone else.
He had no idea how he would find Alex in all this.
"I hope I awaken something special. Something higher than Dad expects," Aina said, her tone unusually serious.
"Something special? Higher?" Michael asked, confused.
Was there a ranking system he didn’t know about?
"You don’t know anything about what we’re doing here, do you?" Aina asked, looking at him strangely.
"Painfully, no," Michael admitted, slightly embarrassed.
"Okay, here’s a quick summary of what my dad told me.
There’s a ranking system.
It depends on the type of spirit qi you’re able to grasp."
"Eh? Spirit qi? I don’t know anything about that," Michael said, growing even more confused.
Aina sighed in exasperation.
"You really don’t know anything about Elyria.
Close your eyes and try to sense your surroundings.
You’ll feel a wisp of energy.
It’s the source of everything in Elyria."
Michael closed his eyes and focused.
Surprisingly, he felt it.
It was invisible to the naked eye, yet clear when he concentrated.
He opened his eyes in shock and looked at Aina.
"You sensed it?" Kaida suddenly spoke, her voice filled with stunned surprise.
Aina froze mid-sentence, her mouth slightly open.
"Did you really sense it?" she asked.
"Yeah… is that a problem?" Michael asked, noticing the change in their tone.
"You… you really sensed it?" Aina repeated, stuttering slightly.
Around them, a few nearby people who overheard turned to look.
Sensing spirit qi on the first try was not normal.
Most people needed days, sometimes weeks.
Michael was speechless.
What was wrong with these two?

ONE HIT, ONE KILL
“I can’t contact Dad… he’s probably in a void space again,” Aina said, her voice sounding with frustration. She had been trying for so long to reach him, but nothing worked. He was the only one strong enough to save Micheal or at least force the cat men to release him, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t get through.“Are we even sure he’s still alive?” Kaida asked, her tone uncertain. If they couldn’t reach their father, and they couldn’t reach Micheal either, then they had no way of knowing what had happened to him.“This is fucked up. He should have pressed the button before he logged in. What the hell…” Aina muttered angrily.Meanwhile, in the arena, Micheal still stood where he was as cheers echoed all around him.Lord Luggard slowly stood to his feet. “We have our winner, everyone. The fun is over,” he announced, before his gaze settled on Micheal. At that moment, what he felt wasn't just surprise towards Micheal. There was fear there… and respect. If Micheal grew any stro
ONE MAN ONE SWORD.
Micheal felt like giving up, he felt like just lying there and letting the dagger tear through his skull. But when the dagger came.Micheal barely raised his sword in time, blocking it. He immediately got up, he wasn't one that went down like that during a fight, The dagger came again and Micheal slashed at it. The impact rang through his arm and pushed him back, his feet dragging hard across the ground. Before he could even steady himself, it came again from another angle. He moved with ASAAM, forcing his body to keep up, slipping past one strike, then another, but the attacks didn’t stop. They kept coming, sharp and relentless. He switched. The sword broke into guns, and he fired quickly, trying to create space, but the dagger cut through the shots like they were nothing. It curved in the air and came straight back at him.Micheal ducked, rolled to the side, then forced himself up again. He didn’t get a second to breathe. The dagger was already there. It struck his shoulder thi
AN UNEVEN BATTLE.
Clap.Clap! Clap!!After the cheers slowly died down, a steady clap continued, and it came from the Silver-ranked cat man, still standing at the edge of the arena. All eyes shifted to the last man still standing.Micheal lifted his head slightly, breathing hard, his body still tense from the fight. The silver ranked cat man clapped slowly, his expression calm.“I am deeply shocked,” he began, his voice clear enough for everyone to hear. “If I wasn’t here to see this myself, I wouldn’t believe it if someone else told me.”He stopped clapping, letting his hand fall to his side.“A mid-tier bronze… standing against multiple high-tier fighters, did humans really know how talented you are and left you to rot here?” He asked and then looked at the timer. Micheal followed his gaze, it remained about only 30 mins, they had 30 minutes to decide a winner. The Silver-ranked cat man finally moved. He stepped away from the edge of the field, slow and steady, the dagger in his hand reflecting a d
CORPSES.
Micheal didn’t wait. The moment he saw all of them looking at him, he acted.A golden light flashed in his hand, forming into a sword. It was his Elyria weapon, the golden sword, but almost immediately, it changed shape. The blade split and reshaped into two golden guns, one in each hand.He stepped back quickly, putting distance between himself and the others. The cat men spread out as they rushed him, trying to surround him from different sides. But Micheal noticed something. The Silver-ranked man didn’t move.He stood at the edge of the field, holding his dagger loosely, watching everything like it had nothing to do with him.Micheal didn’t understand it, but he didn’t have time to think. They were already closing in.He immediately raised his guns. But for a second… he froze. His heart was beating too fast. His hands felt tight. Everything was happening too quickly. But then, he immediately tightened his grip on the gun and fired. If he didn't fight he was going to die. He had to
FIGHTING TO THE DEATH.
“Finally… Bronze level, mid-tier,” Micheal muttered as he opened his eyes.He didn’t return to the cat base immediately after escaping the dragon spirit. Instead, he had moved to a quiet corner at the edge of the outer forest and cultivated in silence. Slowly, carefully, he guided his energy until he was able to form a thin thread in his abdomen, finally connecting the mid-tier bead to the smaller one.Only then did he stop. Now, as he opened his eyes, he looked down at his lap and shook his head lightly. The small white cat was still there, curled up and sleeping peacefully. He had tried to leave it behind several times, but each attempt failed. The moment he moved too far, it would wake up and follow him again.Seeing that there was nothing he could do, Micheal picked it up and carried it with him as he returned to the cat base. The cat let out a soft “meow” as they entered, its eyes moving curiously over the standing cat-like people around them. When Micheal reached the palace, Lor
FIGHTING THE DRAGON SPIRIT.
The dragon spirit roared the moment the net tightened around its body. Its muscles expanded, and the ground beneath it cracked from the pressure. The guards moved immediately. Two rushed forward with curved blades, slashing at its legs in quick, controlled strikes. Their movements were sharp and aimed at the joints. Sparks flew as their weapons scraped against the creature’s thick scales.A spear wielder stepped in from behind them and thrust forward. The spear glowed blue as it shot toward the dragon spirit’s side, striking hard but only sinking in slightly before stopping. The dragon spirit reacted instantly. Its tail swung in a wide arc, it was fast and heavy. One guard tried to block with his shield but was hit directly and sent flying into a tree, his body going limp on impact.Another guard used a chain weapon, swinging it forward and wrapping it tightly around one of the dragon spirit’s legs. He pulled hard, trying to restrict its movement, but the creature jerked its limb with
