"What's your name?" Toni asked, subtly signaling to one of the women who had been standing nearby.

"Brian."

Toni nodded slowly. His gaze then shifted to the four people he trusted, who were now lying on the ground, groaning and holding their bodies. Toni's face hardened. He spat to the side in annoyance.

"Fire them," he said coldly. "I don't want to see their faces around me anymore."

There was no rebuttal. Several people quickly pulled the four men away from the yard. The previously chaotic atmosphere slowly returned to calm.

Not long after, the beautiful woman returned from the house carrying a black suitcase. Toni grabbed the suitcase roughly and opened it in front of Brian. It was filled with neatly stacked bundles of cash.

Brian was speechless. Seeing that much cash in this day and age felt strange.

"Here's the money," Toni said curtly. He closed the suitcase and tossed it toward Brian.

Brian caught the suitcase with both hands. Its weight was immediately felt. Without another word, Brian turned and left the place. There was no reason for him to linger. His business with Toni was over, as was the task assigned by the strange system on his phone.

His steps felt light, even though his body was covered in wounds. He still found it hard to believe that all this was really happening. But the pain in his body was the most vivid reminder.

To Brian's surprise, Toni didn't even ask who had sent him or where he had come from. It was as if today's events were nothing to him. Brian found it odd, but he didn't want to dwell on it. The important thing was that he would soon receive the promised payment. The figure of one hundred million rupiah kept playing in his head.

There were so many things he could do with that money.

Brian returned to his apartment. Upon arrival, he went straight to the bathroom to clean himself. Afterward, he stood in front of the mirror. His reflection was slightly red, the corners of his lips were swollen, and parts of his face were starting to turn blue. His entire body felt crushed, as if his bones were out of place.

Even moving his body felt difficult.

But beneath the pain, one thing kept nagging at his mind. How could he possibly defeat four people at once?

Brian raised his arm slowly. The muscles in his arm were still small and unchanged. There was no sign of a fighter's physique. But in reality, he had managed to take them all down.

"Where did that strength come from?" he muttered under his breath.

Without thinking any further, Brian prepared to leave again. He headed for the nearest bank from his apartment. His body was already exhausted, and after this was all over, he just wanted to rest.

On the way, his cell phone rang.

Ring! Ring!

Jackson's name flashed on the screen. Brian sighed before picking up the phone. Jackson was his friend who had offered him a seasonal job this morning, manning a food stall at a food festival at a mall.

"Jack," Brian said as soon as the call connected. "I guess I won't be taking that job today."

"What's wrong?" Jackson's voice sounded surprised. "Come on, man. There's more than one woman. If you have enough money, you can get anyone. That's why you need to work."

Brian could tell Jackson had heard about Lily and Alex.

“I’m sick today,” Brian replied. “It’s not because of Lily. There was a little incident. I’m really not feeling well. If I can still be accepted tomorrow, I’ll come.”

“Okay. Then tomorrow. I’ve already told the owner.”

“Thank you.”

Brian hung up the phone. He knew he couldn’t refuse the job for long. His funds were really low, and he still had a lot of other things to pay before he could receive payment from the system.

Upon arriving at the bank, Brian unpacked the suitcase and transferred its contents to the account displayed on his phone screen. He didn’t recognize the account holder’s name. It sounded unfamiliar, even strange. But he didn’t care.

The important thing was that the job was done.

“The transaction is complete,” the bank teller said, handing over the transfer receipt.

“Okay,” Brian replied curtly.

Before returning to the apartment, Brian stopped by the pharmacy. He bought some bruise remover and cream to reduce the swelling on his face. As he paid, he caught the cashier’s wary glance. Perhaps his appearance was giving people all sorts of thoughts.

Upon arriving at his apartment, Brian immediately applied medication to various parts of his body. Afterward, he collapsed on the bed without even bothering to change his clothes. Exhaustion immediately consumed his consciousness. His body felt like it was falling into a dark abyss.

He fell into a deep sleep.

That afternoon, the sky had already darkened when Brian woke up. The notification sound from his phone rang repeatedly. That day, he had indeed taken leave from work at the cafe where he played music part-time.

With his eyes half-closed, Brian reached for his phone. The screen lit up, displaying a notification from his banking app. His eyes immediately snapped open.

His account balance had increased.

One hundred million rupiah had been deposited.

Before Brian could fully process it, his phone screen lit up again with the familiar system display.

“[Congratulations. The system has confirmed the money has been received. Your payment has been received.]”

“Bang!”A gunshot shattered the silence, previously filled only with the roar of a vehicle's engine. The flash of fire from the muzzle of a gun could be seen in the distance, coming from Emily's men's car, which had arrived almost at the same time as them.“Good job, they've arrived. So I don't need to draw my weapon,” Emily said calmly, even though the situation ahead was clearly very dangerous.Brian swallowed hard, his eyes focused ahead, while his heart beat faster. He had never been in a situation like this before, where the sound of gunfire was so close to him.The exchange of fire was unavoidable. The car carrying his parents—or at least the one they thought they were—immediately returned fire. The sound of bullets echoed through the air, creating a tense atmosphere that could make anyone lose control.“Watch out! "Follow this map, they're heading this way, and we can't be late," Emily said to Brian, placing her phone screen on the dashboard for easy viewing.Brian stared intently at the address Emily had given him. It was already quite a distance from their current location, and that meant they were racing against time if they wanted to catch the car carrying their parents."Where are they taking my mom and dad?" Brian muttered softly, more to himself than to Emily."You don't need to think about where they're taking them. The important thing is that we catch up and stop them," Emily replied firmly, not wanting Brian to get caught up in anxiety that would only slow his reactions.Brian nodded, though his mind was still filled with various negative possibilities he didn't want to imagine."Are you going down yourself later?" Brian asked then, his eyes remaining focused on the road ahead."No. Two of my men have already arrived at the location. They'll move quickly to help us stop the car," Emil

Brian arrived at the bus terminal. However, the place was incredibly crowded, with vehicles constantly coming and going, horns honking, and people milling about without really paying attention to one another. In such a bustle, it was easy for someone to disappear without a trace, and that was what made Brian's chest tighten.Wasting no time, Brian immediately looked for his regular travel agent from his village, hoping someone had seen his parents. He jogged along, his eyes scanning every corner of the terminal anxiously."Did you see my father and mother earlier?" Brian asked one of the drivers he knew from the village, his voice hurried and hopeful."Oh, someone picked them up earlier. They said it was you," the driver replied casually, not realizing how important this information was to Brian.Brian immediately fell silent, his face tense. "Where are they going?" Brian asked again, this time in a more urgent tone. The driver shook his head slowly. "I don't know. They left immediate

"Are they really coming today?" Emily asked Brian, her voice casual, but her eyes betrayed a serious concern for what was happening."Yes, because they still had work in the village yesterday, so they couldn't come yesterday. They left the village this morning using a travel agent," Brian replied, although he wasn't entirely calm when he said it."So, who's picking them up?" Emily asked again, this time in a slightly sharper tone, as if she were beginning to notice something odd about the situation."I should have picked them up a little while ago, because they hadn't arrived according to the estimated departure time. But somehow, they've already arrived," Brian replied, his face beginning to show a unease he could no longer hide."I'll go after them immediately," Emily said without hesitation, as if it were the only sensible decision at the moment.Brian immediately nodded, not wanting to waste another second.
