Chapter one

The sun was setting over the city, casting a golden glow over the concrete jungle. The streets were bustling with people, cars, and buses, all moving to the rhythm of the urban landscape.

In the midst of this chaos, a young boy named Jamal stepped off the bus and onto the sidewalk. He was a skinny kid with a messy Afro and a wary expression. He clutched a worn backpack to his chest, his eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings.

Jamal had just moved to the city with his family, seeking a fresh start after his father's job loss. But as he looked around at the towering skyscrapers and the crowded streets, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

This was a far cry from the quiet suburban town he'd grown up in. Here, the sounds were louder, the smells were stronger, and the people were tougher.

As Jamal stood there, trying to get his bearings, a group of kids walked by, eyeing him up and down. One of them, a tall, muscular boy with a sneer on his face, stopped in front of Jamal.

"What's up, new kid?" the boy asked, his voice dripping with disdain. "You lost or something?"

Jamal stood his ground, trying to look braver than he felt. "Nah, I'm just looking for my new school," he replied, trying to sound confident.

The boy raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you mean Lincoln High? That's a tough school, new kid. You're gonna need to be tough to survive."

Jamal felt a surge of fear, but he refused to back down. "I can handle it," he said, trying to sound convincing.

The boy snorted. "We'll see about that. My name's Marcus, by the way. And you are...?"

"I'm Jamal," he replied, trying to meet Marcus's gaze.

Marcus nodded. "Well, Jamal, you're in my territory now. Just remember, I'm watching you."

With that, Marcus turned and walked away, leaving Jamal feeling intimidated and unsure of himself.

As he watched Marcus disappear into the crowd, Jamal felt a sense of trepidation. He knew that he had to be tough to survive in this new environment, but he wasn't sure if he was up to the challenge.

With a deep breath, Jamal slung his backpack over his shoulder and set off towards Lincoln High. He was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, determined to make a name for himself in this new city.

As he walked, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with fear. He knew that this was a fresh start, a chance to reinvent himself and leave his past behind.

But as he approached the school, Jamal's nerves began to get the better of him. What if he didn't make any friends? What if the teachers were tough? What if he couldn't keep up with the schoolwork?

Jamal pushed aside his doubts and took a deep breath. He was ready to face whatever lay ahead, determined to make a name for himself in this new city.

With a newfound sense of confidence, Jamal walked through the school doors, ready to take on the challenges of Lincoln High.

As he entered the school, Jamal was immediately struck by the sheer size of the building. The hallways were long and crowded, with kids rushing to and fro.

Jamal felt a sense of overwhelm wash over him as he tried to take it all in. He had never seen so many kids in one place before.

As he stood there, trying to get his bearings, a voice called out to him.

"Hey, you must be the new kid! Welcome to Lincoln High."

Jamal turned to see a friendly-looking girl with a warm smile.

"I'm Jasmine," she said, extending her hand. "I'm on the student council. We're supposed to show you around and help you get settled."

Jamal shook her hand, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.

As Jasmine led him through the crowded hallways, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. The school was huge, with kids from all walks of life.

Jamal saw kids who looked like they just stepped out of a hip-hop video, kids who looked like they belonged on the cover of a prep school catalog, and kids who looked like they didn't quite fit into any particular category.

As he walked, Jamal felt a sense of excitement building inside him. This school was different from anything he had ever experienced before.

As they approached Jamal's locker, Jasmine turned to him with a smile.

"So, what do you think of Lincoln High so far?" she asked.

Jamal shrugged. "It's definitely different from my old school."

Jasmine laughed. "That's one way to put it! Lincoln High can be tough, but it's also an amazing place to learn and grow. You'll find your niche here, don't worry."

Jamal smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Jasmine. She seemed genuinely friendly and welcoming, which was a relief after his encounter with Marcus.

As they approached Jamal's locker, Jasmine showed him how to work the combination lock. Jamal struggled with it at first, but eventually managed to get it open.

Inside, he found a messy stack of textbooks, notebooks, and folders. Jamal groaned, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of schoolwork ahead of him.

Jasmine laughed. "Don't worry, it's not as bad as it looks! You'll get into a routine soon enough. Just remember to stay organized and keep up with your assignments."

Jamal nodded, taking a deep breath. He could do this. He had to do this.

As they walked to their first class, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What would the teachers be like? Would he make any friends? Would he be able to keep up with the schoolwork?

But with Jasmine by his side, Jamal felt a sense of reassurance. Maybe, just maybe, this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.

Their first class was English, and Jamal was relieved to find that the teacher, Mrs. Johnson, was kind and welcoming. She introduced herself and began to discuss the class syllabus, and Jamal found himself feeling more and more at ease.

As the class progressed, Jamal began to participate more, answering questions and engaging in discussions. He was surprised to find that he was actually enjoying himself.

But just as things were starting to look up, Jamal caught sight of Marcus sitting in the back of the classroom, staring at him with a scowl on his face.

Jamal felt a shiver run down his spine. He had forgotten about Marcus, but now he was reminded that he wasn't out of the woods yet.

As the class came to a close, Mrs. Johnson assigned a homework assignment and dismissed the students. Jamal packed up his things and followed Jasmine out of the classroom.

As they walked down the hallway, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that he still had a long way to go before he could truly call himself a part of Lincoln High.

But with Jasmine by his side, Jamal felt a sense of determination. He was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, head-on.

Little did he know, those challenges were just around the corner, waiting to pounce.

As Jamal and Jasmine walked down the hallway, they were stopped by a group of kids who were gathered around a locker.

"Hey, Jasmine, who's the new kid?" one of them asked, eyeing Jamal curiously.

Jasmine smiled. "This is Jamal. He just transferred here from out of town."

The kids nodded, sizing Jamal up. One of them, a tall, lanky boy with a messy mop of hair, stepped forward.

"I'm Tyler," he said, extending his hand. "Welcome to Lincoln High, Jamal."

Jamal shook Tyler's hand, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.

As Jamal and Jasmine continued down the hallway, Tyler fell into step beside them.

"So, Jamal, what brings you to Lincoln High?" Tyler asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Jamal shrugged. "My family just moved here from out of town. My dad got a new job."

Tyler nodded. "Cool. I'm sure you'll like it here. We've got a pretty great school spirit."

Jamal smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Tyler. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

As they approached the cafeteria, the sounds of laughter and chatter grew louder. Jamal's stomach growled, reminding him that he was hungry.

"Hey, let's grab some lunch," Tyler said, nodding towards the cafeteria. "I'll show you the ropes."

Jamal nodded, following Tyler and Jasmine into the cafeteria. As they waited in line, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.

But just as things were starting to look up, Jamal caught sight of Marcus sitting at a table across the cafeteria, staring at him with a scowl on his face.

Jamal felt a shiver run down his spine. He knew that he still had a long way to go before he could truly call himself a part of Lincoln High.

And with Marcus watching his every move, Jamal knew that he had to be careful. He couldn't let his guard down, not even for a moment.

As Jamal, Tyler, and Jasmine sat down at a table, Jamal couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that he was in for a wild ride at Lincoln High.

But he was ready. Bring it on.

Chapter 125 Jamal sat at his desk, fingers tapping rhythmically against the wooden surface. His laptop screen glowed in the dim dorm room, the anonymous email staring back at him like a silent threat. He had read it a dozen times already, trying to decipher any hidden meanings, but its message was simple and direct:You think you’ve won? This is just the beginning. He clenched his jaw. Milo was getting bolder. And now, it seemed, he wasn’t acting alone. Jamal turned to Leah, Zoe, and Ethan, who were sitting on his bed, each of them wearing matching expressions of concern.“This isn’t just some petty campus rivalry anymore,” Jamal muttered. “Milo’s taking this outside Columbus University.”Leah folded her arms. “We need to track down who sent this. If he has outside help, we’re at a disadvantage.”Zoe sighed, running a hand through her hair. “But how do we stop someone we can’t see?”Ethan leaned forward, his eyes sharp with calculation. “Maybe we don’t have to find him. Maybe we make

Despite their efforts, the accusations kept circulating on campus forums. It didn’t matter that there was no concrete proof—people loved a juicy controversy.Leah’s voice came through the team’s group call. “The livestream is scheduled for tomorrow. We have three professors from the tech department agreeing to watch. If we prove our originality, we kill this rumor.”Ethan exhaled. “Still, we need to be ready for anything. Milo isn’t dumb—he’ll try to discredit us again.”Zoe, who had been eerily silent, suddenly spoke. “Then we do something he won’t expect.”Jamal rubbed his temples. “Like what?”“We go bigger,” Zoe said. “We turn this livestream into a full-fledged demo day. Invite students, industry experts, hell—even potential investors. We force the narrative into something positive.”Leah

The numbers weren’t terrible, but they weren’t great either. Skilbridge was growing, but not at the pace they had hoped. While universities were signing up, user retention was dropping. It was a frustrating plateau, one that could determine the platform’s future.Leah sat across from him, scrolling through her tablet. “We need something more compelling. The AI tutoring feature is promising, but it’s not enough. We need a hook—something that makes Skilbridge essential, not just convenient.”Zoe, who had been quiet until now, leaned forward. “What if we establish a student ambassador program? Get representatives in each school to market the platform directly to their peers. Word of mouth is still the strongest form of promotion.”Ethan, casually spinning a pen between his fingers, nodded. “That could work. Organic marketing has a bette
