Chap 7: A Rescue From Rudolf

"I have never committed any act of embezzlement of Malibu Gety Restaurant funds!" Austin tried to contradict the police who investigated him.

At this police station, Austin sat opposite a police officer as a suspect in the embezzlement case. While beside him were two men who looked relaxed as if they didn't feel guilty.

The two strangers claimed themselves to be witnesses about Austin's actions. They believe that Austin has found evidence of money transfers with abnormal amounts.

"If it wasn't you, then where did the money appear in your account?" asked Jordan, the police detective in front of Austin.

"Money?" asked Austin confused.

Austin hadn't checked his cell phone at all. That's why he didn't realize there was money in his account.

"I don't know what money you mean," Austin replied once again.

Jordan couldn't seem to believe Austin. He smiled sarcastically, then signaled to another cop. Soon the other cop came over with Austin's confiscated cell phone.

"Here, you can check it yourself," Jordan said as he handed over Austin's cell phone.

Out of curiosity, Austin finally opened his account. After seeing the description of the amount of money contained there, how Austin was surprised.

[Remaining Balance: $799,999,970]

"Wait, how can..." Austin stopped his speech as he was dumbfounded.

This doesn't make sense. Austin simply didn't understand how this amount of money could be in his account.

"I didn't embezzle funds! I don't know how this much money got into my account!" Austin continued to argue while showing Jordan his phone screen.

Unfortunately, Jordan seemed unwilling to listen to Austin's words.

"Sir, please listen to me. These two men are lying! They're not witnesses, I don't know them!" Austin said once again.

Jordan snorted with a sardonic smile. "How can I trust your word?" he asked. "Criminals like you will indeed act innocence without guilt. The evidence from Malibu Gety Restaurant is clear."

"That's right! You're just pretending to act innocent. The money was also in your phone!" said one of the men who claimed to be a witness.

Austin looked away. He was irritated by the accusations from both of them. Since when did they witness Austin's whereabouts? All this time, Austin was just busy working. But suddenly this accusation came and surprised him.

"I have committed no crime," Austin emphasized.

Instead of listening to Austin's words, Jordan called other police officers to come. Jordan immediately signaled for them to arrest Austin.

Finally, the two policemen who came to Austin immediately prepared handcuffs and forcibly pulled his hands. Austin was shocked, wanted to rebel but couldn't.

"Sir, I didn't commit any crime! Why should I be in jail?!" Austin exclaimed to the two policemen who handcuffed him.

"SHUT UP!" The two cops on his right and left yelled back.

Austin was forced to keep his mouth shut even though he did not accept this treatment. His body was roughly pulled to his feet, momentarily confronting Jordan.

"You should be nice inside the jail. As long as the investigation continues, you should stay there for 2Ă—24 hours," Jordan retorted.

Hearing that, Austin winced. But he tried to stay calm.

Both of Austin's legs went with the forceful pull of the two policemen. How to contact Rudolf if his cell phone was confiscated?

(1 Day Later)

Satisfied laughter echoed among Ellina, Jack, Simon, Petra, Katherine, and Luciana.

They had all just listened to the news on television about the embezzlement case. Malibu Gety restaurant is one of the famous restaurants, if anything happens then the media will spread the news.

Now, the news of Malibu Gety Restaurant's embezzlement had appeared. One of the media even exposed Austin as the culprit behind the embezzlement.

"Papa, are you working with the restaurant manager to frame Austin?!" Ellina, amidst her mocking laughter, asked.

Simon smiled proudly as he took a sip of alcohol. His gaze didn't move from the television screen that repeated the image of the perpetrator, Austin and two others.

"The manager did a good job," Simon replied after a satisfied sip. "Just because I'm holding his guilt, he wants me to press charges against Austin."

"I didn't expect you to actually take such a reckless action, darling!" Katherine, Simon's wife, immediately clung to Simon's hand from the side.

"Of course. I would do anything to protect my beloved daughter," Simon replied while stroking Katherine's shoulder, then looked at Ellina with a smile.

Ellina immediately showed her affection for Simon.

"I'm sure he'll have a hard time getting out of prison since there's no one to help him," Ellina retorted with a dismissive laugh.

"That's right. He's just a poor man, with no connections to anyone in the elite! So, he'll be in prison for a... long time!" replied Katherine, unable to contain her satisfied smile.

Jack, who was listening to their arguments, just shook his head. He already had two million dollars worth of premium alcohol in his hand.

"I remember how stupid he was when he broke Bernard's premium alcohol," Jack said. "You know what? His face was completely panicked and scared as hell. He didn't have the money to replace the alcohol!"

"Of course he did. We've already fired him from his job at the mansion," replies Luciana, Jack's mother. "I heard that he's also been fired from his job as a part-time delivery and delivery boy. His only job is office boy at the Carlyle Group."

"Ah, poor man! I'm so sorry to see him destitute like that!" Simon replied, pretending to be sad.

"There's no need for pity, Father. It's Austin's fate to live in misery. With him in prison, he'll have a hard time getting revenge," Ellina replied casually.

"We won't accept a lowlife like him in this mansion," chimed in Petra who hadn't spoken at all.

Before they could continue their conversation, their cell phone suddenly rang. The laughter slowly faded away, each of their attention turned in unison to the source of the sound.

"From my cell phone," said Simon who immediately picked up the cell phone from the table.

They all looked curiously at Simon who was reading the cell phone screen. Simon immediately frowned in astonishment after reading the name of the caller.

"Manager of Malibu Gety Restaurant," Simon said answering the others' curiosity.

There was no response.

Ellina, Jack, Petra, Katherine, and Luciana still looked at Simon confused. They chose to remain silent when they saw Simon pick up the phone call.

"Hello?" Simon greeted. "Why are you calling—"

"Mr. Simon, I'm sorry. The plan to frame Austin failed! A trillionaire you know found evidence of his innocence!"

Simon's face instantly turned flat. Simon was silent for a moment in shock.

"Austin was acquitted?" asked Simon.

Simon's question made the others dumbfounded in unison. They looked at Simon in disbelief, worried about what they had just heard.

"Who freed Austin? Who is that trillionaire I know?" Simon asked in a stern tone.

"He is Rudolf. Because of the evidence he provided, I had to be summoned to the police station, Mr. Simon!"

Suddenly Simon stood up from the sofa because he couldn't contain his shock at hearing Rudolf's name. For a split second Simon looked frustrated and held his temples.

"Where are you right now?!"

"Going through the investigation process. They know that I set Austin up on purpose. How's this?"

Simon bit his lower lip, worried. The report clearly put him on edge. If something happened with the manager of Malibu Gety Restaurant, then that meant Simon's position was also at risk.

What if the manager reported him as someone who gave orders?
