Chap 6: What's Illegal Act That Was Austin Did?

"You make him feel stupid, Mr. Bernard," Petra retorted with a mocking laugh as well. "Although indeed... being willingly ordered around and enslaved by a boss is an actions of an obedient dog."

"He has to be an obedient dog because he needs the money. Right, Austin?!" Bernard taunted with a lopsided laugh.

Austin turned to Bernard. Without showing his annoyance, Austin nodded his head with a slight obedient bow.

"That's it! You see? He's very obey what I say!"

Then all the VVIP guests laughed, except Rudolf.

"That's why I don't want to associate with low-life people like your office boy, Mr. Bernard," Vernanzo retorted. "They're willing to make themselves into obedient dogs who do everything they're told just to make a profit."

"Mr. Vernanzo, don't state the facts so much!" snapped Petra.

"It's true, isn't it? Hey, Austin-your name is Austin, right?" Vernanzo called out to Austin, causing Austin's eyes to wander. "You willingly obeyed your boss's orders for money, right?"

Vernanzo's words actually had some truth to them. Finally Austin nodded his head. Although it wasn't entirely true.

"See?" Vernanzo smiled proudly. "They need to enjoy our money too. No wonder they're poor. They want to be bribed all the time."

Rudolf took the cup in front of him and looked uncomfortable at the mockery for Austin.

"Oh, Miss Ellina and Mr. Jack. How was your wedding? Gosh, you brought us all together to be invited as VVIP guests?" asked Bernard who had changed the topic of conversation.

At that moment, Austin was about to say goodbye to Bernard. But Bernard motioned for him to clear the table and get the bottles of alcohol from the special safe.

Finally Austin walked to the safe provided in the VVIP meeting room, opened it, and took three bottles of premium alcohol. In the midst of Austin's movements, his ears overheard a conversation.

"Oh, our wedding is in two weeks. After I take care of my divorce with my ex-husband," Ellina replied.

Austin stopped moving his hands after hearing Ellina's reply. He was still crouched in front of the safe, his back to the VVIP guests.

"Miss Ellina, I have no idea who your ex-husband is. Why won't you show us?" asked Bernard. "Except for Mr. Simon, since you are his father."

Ellina laughed sarcastically. "Don't imagine my ex-husband is a conglomerate man with a successful business. He... ah, I'm so embarrassed to tell you about him."

Vernanzo, Rudolf, Petra, and Bernard were silent.

"I even regret my decision to marry him. I was fooled by her hard work. I thought she could become rich because she owned a restaurant, albeit a small one..."

Austin silently clenched his hands into fists as he heard Ellina's words.

"But he really didn't make any progress. He's still poor. And I didn't know he owed the bank! Ugh, it's a waste for him to build a restaurant if he has no net profit income to show for it."

"Gosh... you must be really tormented marrying a poor man like that, right?" asked Bernard.

"Miss Ellina is smart, but unfortunately picked the wrong partner," Vernanzo commented.

Then he heard Ellina sigh heavily. "That's right. I'm the daughter of a conglomerate with a thriving business. But my ex-husband is a poor loser who has no money and has to live in my mansion."

In that instant, Austin accidentally dropped one of the bottles of alcoholic wine. The loud slamming sound stopped the conversation. All eyes were immediately drawn to Austin's whereabouts.

"Hey, idiot!" Bernard came straight to Austin in a hurry.

Austin glared in panic. He stood up, watching the shards of shards and alcoholic wine spilling everywhere.

"Are you crazy?! Don't you know that premium alcohol is very expensive?!" snapped Bernard as he tugged on Austin's back collar.

Austin didn't resist at all.

Resignedly, Austin faced Bernard who was already glaring angrily. Bernard looked at him very sharply, his jaw hardened, and his breath came in emotional gasps.

"You're incompetent!" Then, one very hard slap landed on Austin's face.

Bernard was already very irritated.

Again, Austin did not retaliate. He let his body almost collapse after getting slapped by Bernard.

"You're just a poor office boy! You should work properly and not break expensive things here!" said Bernard who was out of control.

The VVIP guests stood up from their seats. Except for Vernanzo who was grinning with interest at the argument in front of him.

"Wait, Mr. Bernard, there's no need for violence," Rudolf said as he rushed over to Bernard.

Without listening to Rudolf's words, Bernard suddenly lunged at Austin with a kick. Austin's body jerked repeatedly as kicks were delivered to his buttocks and legs.

"MR. BERNARD! STOP!" Rudolf immediately raised his tone.

Bernard was surprised that Rudolf suddenly snapped at him.

With his face flushed with emotion, Bernard approached Rudolf.

"Are you defending him?" asked Bernard, grabbing Rudolf by the collar. "He's my obedient dog! Do you know how much premium alcohol costs? A million dollars!

Rudolf fell silent. Meanwhile, Bernard kicked Austin back.

"You're too poor to even pay that, asshole!" Bernard snapped back at Austin.

Austin remained curled up while protecting his head. Behind his crossed arms, his face grimaced with pain.

"You still can't..."

Before Rudolf could finish his sentence, the door of the room was suddenly broken down. Four men rushed into the room. One of them showed an identity card around his neck.

"Where is someone named Austin!? We're looking for him to arrest him for embezzlement of Malibu Gety Restaurant funds!"
