Eric POV
When the morning sun illuminated the horizon, the cool and sweet morning breeze caressed Eric's face. Rubbing his eyes, Eric looked around; since he had slept in front of the stable, what happened yesterday was not a dream but reality. He got up cheerfully and stood up.
After yawning to shake off his sluggishness, realizing his stomach was empty, he went in front of the hut to have breakfast, and as he was returning to the stable to start his chores, he noticed Kayn coming toward him from a distance. There was a very surprised expression on his face.
Coming over to Eric, Kayn hugged him and said, "Thank you, and I'm sorry for everything, please forgive me, I said very bad things to you."
Stepping back, Eric looked at Kayn and replied, "It doesn't matter, you're my friend after all."
Actually, with these words, Kayn would trust Eric even more, and this would work to his advantage.
Kayn still couldn't believe what had happened. Despite saying such bad things to him, Eric had still thought of his own well-being. Kayn swore that from then on, he would trust every word Eric said and help him for the rest of his life. Hearing this oath, Eric found it quite bizarre for someone as spineless as him to make such grand vows. Deep down, he thought to himself: How much that usual fool Kayn loves talking nonsense.
Jumping into the conversation, Eric said, "Now that you've heard everything, let's start working without delay." Whether Eric was happy or sad, he had acquired the habit of doing his work on time. Even though he was lazy, when work fell on him, he definitely fulfilled his responsibility.
The duo quickly started their work. Wanting to share his joy, Kayn was, as usual, bending Eric's ear.
By noon, all the work was finished. The duo leaned against the wall and started watching the surroundings.
Turning to Eric, Kayn said, "I understand everything, but there is still one problem. I can't believe someone like Lady Hayne would slaughter people."
Hearing this, Eric realized he needed to close this subject; just as he had reached an agreement with Fergus, Kayn might let something slip and ruin everything.
With a slightly sad tone of voice, Eric said, "To tell you the truth, it feels that way to me too; maybe I saw wrong, after all, I'm a person with a high imagination, I guess I imagined it in my own head and believed it, that's why I almost brought trouble upon you too, I need to stop such bad thoughts now." By doing this, Eric satisfied Kayn's curiosity.
Turning to his friend with a curious expression, Kayn asked, "Do you think we have hunter power too?"
Lifting his head, Eric replied, "I don't know." Kayn was worried about this issue; he didn't think he had any power.
After sitting in front of the stable until evening, Kayn got up and returned to the hut. Eric could finally be alone. He loved the silence and peace; he lay down on the grass and began to watch the sky. The stars seemed somehow more beautiful tonight.
At that moment, he noticed someone coming that way. He immediately stood up, looked around, and couldn't believe his eyes—it was Hayne who had arrived.
He stood up and greeted her. There was a strange expression on Hayne's face.
With his head bowed, Eric asked if the lady wanted something.
Hayne told him to lift his head and, looking at him, said, "I heard you saved me." Her voice was stranger than usual.
Eric realized she had come to thank him. This was the kind of thing someone like her would do, no matter how fake it was. But there was a difference about her; it was different from her usual polite manners.
For a moment, as Eric looked into her eyes, Hayne blushed and looked away. She seemed embarrassed. "Thank you," she muttered and quickly walked back.
As for Eric, he muttered with annoyance, "I guess we've brought trouble upon ourselves."
Leaving the thinking behind, he lay back down on the grass and continued watching the sky.
The hardships he had suffered for years would finally end, or they would increase even more. He was aware that he was taking a big risk.
Wondering what his father was doing right now—he was the last person left from his family—he thought, "If I become a hunter, I can help him too."
Stopping his observation, he closed his eyes and left himself to the sweet arms of sleep.
Meanwhile, Kayn couldn't sleep in the hut out of excitement; good fortune had finally smiled upon him, and it had happened thanks to someone he least expected.
Kayn had already set a goal for himself: he would become the strongest and prove himself to everyone.
When that time came, he thought, "I'll give Eric a small gift to pay off my debt, and then I'll get rid of him."
Ungrateful Kayn closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Afterwards, they continued their normal chores for 2 weeks, feeling that with each passing day they were getting one step closer to salvation.
When that day arrived, both of them were excited and happy, waiting in front of the stable for Fergus to arrive, and then Fergus appeared from afar along with his men. Both of them looked like they were about to faint from excitement.
The duo greeted Fergus. There was an affectionate expression on Fergus's face. When he signaled his man, the armored man handed the new clothes to the boys.
Looking at the boys, Fergus said, "Hurry up and put these on, the carriage at the door will take you to the interviews in a short while. If you don't pass the interviews, don't worry, as I promised, I will send you to a country where living standards are easy, you can start a new life there."
The duo quickly put on their new clothes and headed towards the door. When they stepped out, Kayn, who had thought he would grow up, age, and die right here, had crossed the border; he wouldn't die as a slave anymore, he would work hard to become a great man.
The two boys got into the luxury carriage and set off.
Since Fergus's house was far from the city, when the two boys arrived inside the city, they began to examine their surroundings with curious eyes; houses, mansions, and richly dressed people, each bigger than the other, resembled a fantasy world rather than a city, without the slightest trace of poverty and unhappiness.
Unlike his friend, because Eric had not been raised in a mansion and had previously lived in a village, he could faintly remember the hunger and misery there.
In a low voice, to himself, "Look at these people, how happy they are! The suffering people don't matter to them; while people are dying of hunger, these people live in pleasure, they don't even care what they make people suffer, the innocent are constantly dying."
At that moment, a memory from his village years came to his mind. An old lady had told him: "WHEN THE DAY COMES, THE EARTH WILL REBEL IN THE NAME OF THE INNOCENT BURIED IN IT; WHEN EARTHQUAKES HAPPEN, CRACKS WILL FORM IN THE GROUND AND FLAMES WILL ERUPT FROM THE CRACKS, THE EARTH WILL RELEASE ALL THE DEAD, THE DEAD WILL FIND THE CULPRITS AND CHOP OFF THEIR HEADS, THE REVENGE OF THE EARTH IS NEAR."
Realizing that Eric was muttering something, Kayn wanted to ask what was wrong, but knowing he wouldn't get a proper answer, he abandoned the idea and continued to watch the beauty of the city.
When they finally arrived at the academy, they were astonished by what they saw; the academy consisted of 4 large castles, and the houses they saw in the city looked tiny next to them. The driver pulled on the horses' reins and stopped the carriage.
He got down and told the boys to head towards the middle building and show the seals he handed them.
The two boys quickly headed towards the main building. When they reached the door, they saw dozens of people waiting for the interview. The person whose number was called came to the steps in front of the door. Just as he was about to check what was going on, Kayn nudged Eric's arm and pointed out the registration desk. They went to the registration desk and handed the round wooden seals from the driver to the young man sitting at the desk. The young man took the two seals, examined them for a bit, and handed over two pieces of paper with numbers written on them: 254, 255. Pointing to the crowd in front with a bored expression, he said, "Go over there and wait for your number to be called," and continued with his work.
The duo headed quickly towards the crowd while talking to each other. Arriving next to the crowd, they began to look at the door. At that moment, a girl whose number was called stepped up the stairs and came to the front of the door. Her red hair and piercing gaze captivated everyone; she came to the official.
The middle-aged man handed a pill to the girl without speaking. After swallowing the beautiful pill, the girl waited for a bit. Seeing a red, transparent vapor emerging from her, Eric said, "I guess this is life energy."
The official pointed to the school entrance gate with his left hand, and the girl entered happily.
The interview was easy and consisted of a single stage.
After a while, number 254 was called.........

An atmosphere of shouting and chaos prevailed in the Nameless section. Manas was trying to calm everyone down. Those in the group felt that the humiliation inflicted upon their friend was inflicted upon them as well; they wanted revenge. Realizing he couldn't silence everyone, he climbed onto the table and shouted for them to quiet down, and all sounds in the hall suddenly ceased. Speaking up again, he said no revenge would be taken, as no one supports us in the academy. Making a wrong move would get all of us expelled. From amidst the crowd, a pale-skinned, black-haired, thin boy named Drutan stood up and said that there is actually a fair and rule-compliant way for revenge; we can challenge them to a match. Right now, they still can't use their powers like us, so this way we can teach them a lesson.Manas angrily said that is true, we can defeat them now, but what will happen when they grow stronger? If they try to take revenge on us later, it won't be good for us at all. Remember t

Chapter 4Eric POVFergus was quite surprised by what he heard. Fulfilling this request wasn't a problem for him, but to become a hunter, one needed to be able to use life energy, and such individuals came from specific bloodlines. The probability of a commoner possessing such a talent was one in 100,000.Despite knowing this probability, Eric trusted his luck. Or rather, a gut feeling deep inside told him so. His instincts had never failed him up to this day. With a surprised expression, Fergus asked, "Are you sure about this? Is there anyone in either of your bloodlines capable of becoming a hunter?"Stepping in, Eric replied, "At least I want to try. If it doesn't work out, you can send my friend and me to another country, right?"Fergus found this idea smart; either way, the children would benefit, and he would come out ahead.Looking at Eric, Fergus said, "Alright, that works for me. Now go get some rest; I'll send you and your friend to the academy trials in 2 weeks."Hearing th

Eric POVHe was following the man who made his way through the silent darkness of the night, having no intention of turning him in just yet, merely curious to see what he would do. In Eric's view, the man was a thief with a plan to take advantage of the banquet to rob the house, so he continued to watch him. However, there was one thing he couldn't understand: why would a life energy user, moving like a shadow, engage in petty theft?According to what he had heard, individuals capable of using life energy became extremely powerful, and they were commonly known as hunters.Hunters were a large community that hunted monsters in the wild lands belonging to the Kingdom of Arkadia. When Eric looked ahead again, he saw the man climbing through a window. He was very excited, but at the same time, he rather enjoyed the feeling, imagining himself as a true hunter. For Eric, who lived a monotonous and boring life, even the simplest adventure felt like something wonderful. The soldiers behind him stopped running, drew the bows from their waists, nocked their arrows, pulled the bowstrings taut, and waited for the order. At the commander's order to "fire at will," arrows came whizzing through the air toward the man.The old man could now taste death in his throat as six arrows pierced his back simultaneously. He groaned in pain and collapsed to the ground. His journey had finally reached its end. Dying this way caused him deep agony; he had never experienced happiness throughout his life: his father was killed, his mother was forcefully taken and sold as a slave, and he had no brothers or sisters. Later, he got a new family, but his bad luck still refused to leave him. His first three children died of disease, while the last one was sold as a slave, leaving goodness knows what fate in store for him.
