For a moment, Julius said nothing. He stared at Miley, his eyes were unreadable, his tall frame was tense and still.

The overhead light in the living room flickered once, casting a dim glow across her determined face and the soft under-eye patches still clinging beneath her eyes.

While Julius was still trying to believe that what he had heard was not some delusion but her actual words, she was indeed ready to marry him, she was ready to help him, in this misery of his life , but what he wasn't able to understand was why she is willing to help him in the first place, when Oliva hasn't helped, she wasn't loyal with him, even when they were married then why does Miley want to be loyal with, why do she wants to help him and all these questions were making him doubt his reality where he has heard the words correctly or his mind was just playing some games with him.

When he didn't get the answer from himself even after struggling a lot in his mind, he finally decided to ask the question di

The courthouse doors clicked shut behind them, sealing away the vows they had just exchanged with the kind of quiet finality that felt heavier than expected. Miley clutched the modest bouquet of wildflowers, baby’s breath and pale wild roses, still she was not entirely able to believe they were hers. Her fingers brushed over the petals like a dream she didn’t want to end.“We’re married,” she said, her voice barely louder than a breath.Julius gave a faint nod, glancing sidelong at her. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I was too worried yesterday. I should’ve gotten you real flowers.”Miley blinked at him. “These are real flowers.”He gave a small huff of amusement. “You know what I mean.”She did. And yet, the idea of him stepping off the sidewalk to pick them just for her made them more precious than a florist’s bouquet ever could be.But she could not tell him that , yet, even though she really wanted to scream this from the top of her lungs that no flower, no bouquet in the entire world co

The house was quieter than usual that evening. No television murmuring in the background, no kettle hissing on the stove. Just the soft shuffle of footsteps and the occasional creak of wood as Miley moved about the living room, placing her wildflower bouquet in a simple glass vase. The cream and blush petals looked delicate, a quiet contrast to the stormy day they’d had.Julius stood nearby, loosening the tie around his neck, his jacket already slung across the armrest of the couch. He watched her without speaking, a subtle intensity in his gaze. It wasn’t just her dress or the curve of her smile. It was the way she moved careful, yet completely unafraid. Still here. Still his… somehow.“You’re awfully quiet for someone who just got married,” Miley teased softly, glancing over her shoulder. He exhaled through his nose, the corner of his mouth tilting. “I’m still letting that part sink in.”She turned to face him, her fingers twining in front of her. “Regretting it already?”His eyes s

The morning sunlight filtered through the tall windows of the estate, casting golden streaks across the wooden floor. Miley was still in bed when the scent of roses hit her nose, dozens of them. She blinked, stretched, and sat up, only to gasp. The entire living room had been transformed. Roses in hues of red, pink, and white were everywhere bundles on tables, bouquets in vases, and petals scattered across the floor like confetti from a royal celebration. Gifts in ornate wrappings adorned the foyer. Beside one of the larger flower stands stood a note with an elegant golden seal.Julius, who had just finished his morning black coffee, picked up the card and frowned. “Duke of Glamorgan,” he murmured.Miley peered over his shoulder, reading aloud, “To the newlyweds—my blessings and warmest congratulations. Miley is like a daughter to me. I couldn’t be happier. I've arranged a private dinner for the two of you tonight. Wear something fitting.”Julius sighed and rubbed his temple. “I have

The next evening, Miley sat at her desk, surrounded by stacks of financial reports. The Duke’s company finances were far more complex than she had anticipated, and merging them with her own accounts was proving to be a tedious task. She rubbed her temples, willing the numbers to make sense. The dim glow of her desk lamp cast long shadows across the room, the only sign of life in the otherwise silent office. A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Before she could respond, a young man named Lorence sauntered into the office, he was one of the junior accountants. He leaned against her desk with an easy smirk, as if they were old friends. His tailored suit was too expensive for his position, his cufflinks gleaming under the light. “You look like you could use some help,” he said, his voice dripping with false concern. “I’ve got nothing but time. You can take any help from me, anytime. I’ll be of use.” His emphasis on the last word made her skin crawl. Miley didn’t even glanc

By the time Miley made it to the second office that afternoon, the weight of the exhaustion of the day was already pressing on her temples. Meetings, invoices, forecasts, it had been relentless for a long day like today. She stepped into the open-plan space and offered a polite nod to the staff as she made her way to her desk. But her tired eyes widened slightly at the sight waiting for her.A tall bouquet of deep red roses sat in the middle of her workspace, arranged with precision and wrapped in silk ribbon. For a brief second, a small smile crept onto her face, until she leaned in and read the attached card.“For the most hardworking woman in this building. A little something to brighten your day. – Lorence”The smile vanished. He was the last person she would expect a bouquet from. She stood up so fast her chair scraped loudly across the tiled floor, making everyone's heads turn towards her. Everyone knew Lorence was charming, arrogant, the son of a wealthy businessman who played

The gifts. The roses. Are you behind this circus?”He opened his mouth to say no, because, truly, even he was not sure. But then the thought struck him. Who else could pull this off? His father, Grant Voss, was the wealthiest man in the city, and he would personally come down just a few days ago to Miley’s office, furious and embarrassed at Lorence’s behavior. Maybe this was his father’s way of fixing things. Trying to win Miley over with what amounted to a modern-day dowry.Lorence’s lips curved into a slow, lazy smile. “Do you like them?”Miley stared at him in disbelief.“No,” she hissed, crumpling the card and tossing it t

Miley did not remember how much time had passed since they had arrived there, everything was going fine till the power cut out happened without warning. One moment, the safehouse hummed quietly with energy, and the next, darkness fell like a heavy curtain. Miley froze mid-step. She was always afraid of the darkness and Julius was also aware of this.“Backup generator?” she asked in urgency.Julius was already moving, lighting a match and touching it to a candle. One flame flared, then another. Shadows bloomed and stretched along the concrete walls, flickering like silent ghosts.“It’s manual override,” he muttered. “Which means someone’s probing the system.”He moved stiffly. Only then did Miley notice the dark stain spreading across the side of his shirt. Her breath caught.“You’re hurt.”“It’s nothing.”“Let me see it.”“No.”But Julius winced when he peeled the shirt off, and the candlelight revealed the gash…angry and red, sliced across his side. It was not too deep, but it was r

The safehouse was carved into the mountainside, invisible to the eye unless you knew exactly where to look. A thick steel door sealed them inside, followed by a pressure-lock corridor that scanned their vitals as they passed. Miley flinched when a beam of light swept over her eyes, but Julius barely reacted.“Security layer. Measures vitals, heat signatures,” he said. “It will prepare medkits if anything’s off.”The main room was minimalist..cold stone walls, reinforced by metal panels, a compact kitchenette, one small table, and a bank of screens tucked into a recessed alcove. There was only one bedroom, a narrow hallway leading to it. The cot inside was clean but spartan. A single dresser. But there were no windows.Miley wandered while Julius ran diagnostics. The silence pressed in, broken only by soft beeps from his console. She moved toward the far wall, noticing a slight variation in the paneling. She touched it. A soft click responded. The panel hissed open, revealing a concea

His hands gripped the wheel, as he was cleaning it, while turning it in circular motion with full force, and suddenly the electricity sparks making the entire place lit with the yellow bulbs, his knuckles becoming white because of the cold and the force. “I am sorry Miley, but I can not lose you to carelessness, the less you know about anything, the safer you would be” he growled, the finality in his tone closing the door on any further argument. She remembered how they had left under the cover of night, the hum of the engine blending into the darkness that swallowed them whole. How the city lights dwindled behind them, replaced by stretches of empty road. The silence inside the vehicle pressed dow

  • Rented

The luxury gifts were still shimmering in their designated spots, the vintage sports cars with a chrome finish, stacks of designer items, and flower arrangements worth a fortune. And as the crowd was about to shift completely against Lorence, he suddenly scream at the top of his lungs while laughing out loud;Ohh my God! I never knew that someone could be this useless too!! Like just to prove yourself as a worthy person, you have spent your wife's hard earned money in renting these fake gifts and the vintage cares! Do you even know how hard it is to make money? Or a freeloader like you only know how to spend it?Because I know it clearly a man like you can't even afford the chrome finish of this car.Lorence's words once again gave the blow to the dying fire and people started to murmur again, as the possibility of renting those things suddenly started to make sense, instead of buying them, because how can a man, dressed in completely simple clothes, afford all of that. And if he did

Lorence hesitated, only for a breath, but it wasn't long enough for someone to notice.“Why should I entertain your little drama?” he snapped, then pointed abruptly toward Miley. “And what about her, huh? She’s the real reason we are even talking. A woman like her, who should be compared to a Goddess…this elegant, capable, stunning woman, does not belong with someone like you, who does not even provide her the basic necessities, let alone the luxuries!”He stalked toward Miley with practiced charm in his voice.“She deserves a man who does not lie. Who does not humiliate her with cheap stunts like this just to make himself look good.”Miley’s eyes narrowed, but she stayed rooted in place.“I mean, look at her,” Lorence continued. “She walks like a queen and talks like one. You think you can match her presence by flinging a couple of fake gifts around and hoping we are all stupid enough to buy it?”Lorence’s words made the way for more murmurs. You could not afford the chrome finish on the door handles.”Julius lets the words settle first and waited him to finish, then adds:“You talk loud for someone who does not know what his own father is doing behind his back.”Now everyone is paying attention again, as this was something going to be a very interesting gossip, as by now they had stopped listening to them thinking that they were busy in some love rivalry drama, but now it was complete politics and the g
