Last one standing

I'm Yeager Jane, twenty-six years old, a former low-level employee in a real estate company. Just over a month ago, the company suddenly cut staff and of course those who have no dedication or low productivity will be fired. Among them was me, a security guard who neither excelled nor had original ideas.

When I was in elementary school, I was often mistaken for a girl from appearance to timidity, even gestures. Because I was young, my friends didn't treat me to the point of seeing me as a different person. By the time I entered middle school, my appearance hadn't changed much from before. When it was time to introduce themselves in class, the girls sitting around me looked at me with questioning eyes, or reacted like they didn't believe in my gender. So during my life in middle school, I only had two or three male friends, not a single female friend or a lover to guide me. And in the long run, one of my friends still considers me as the opposite sex, because my health is quite poor and I only get a good grade in gymnastics. Realizing that, I gradually distanced myself from him,

After that, both in high school and college, I lived alone and didn't care about making friends, just immersed in games, anime manga or symphony songs to find joy. When I got a job at a real estate company, I still lived that way until I was fired. I realized is it because I don't know how to build relationships with colleagues, or is it because my ability is really poor?! No matter how I think about it, it won't change anything, I have to keep looking ahead.

After more than a month of unemployment, I tightened my spending and only used noodles instead of rice. Rarely do I use other foods to nourish myself when I'm sick, and now it's time for me to eat something other than cup noodles. Like today, I'm on my way back to my apartment from a convenience store. The weather is getting worse, it can rain at any time and the apartment I stay in is quite far away. I hope it doesn't rain at this time, because it will affect my current health very badly.

Halfway there, my luck seemed to have run out. The rain fell heavier and heavier and the heavy raindrops became more and more heavy. Raindrops fell like airgun bullets deliberately hitting me. My vision was further limited because the rain was blurring my glasses, and my breathing was getting worse and worse because I had to run back as fast as I could.

When I got to the apartment, I didn't have any stomach to cook or eat because my whole body was shivering. The apartment I live in is also not very large, with only one bathroom as well as a toilet located at the end of the hallway to the left from the front door. Right now, I'm dragging my body into the dining room, as well as the place I use as the living room... that I've never had guests before. The dining room takes up most of the space in the apartment, with the kitchen just one wall away from the main door, and my private room facing the dining room and the bathroom.

After placing the items I just bought on the kitchen table, I felt like I needed to lie down somewhere, so I walked to the middle of the room in a heavy mood. As the heat of the fever rose from the inside and the cold from the outside enveloped me, my body was shivering from the cold and sweating profusely from the heat, my breathing was now harder than ever. As soon as I lay down on the sofa, the heat had blurred the glasses I was wearing, the feeling that my eyes were heavy and my mind was no longer clear enough to control my body. I surrendered to that heaviness and let go of the dream that came, thinking that I would close my eyes for a while and then I would go to the kitchen, but I fell asleep all the time. The only thing I could feel at that time was my own thoughts. In a trance,

"Hey hey you, it's so peaceful to leave, isn't it?" A wheezing, rather harsh voice of a man spoke up.

I didn't know where he was or who he was calling, because the echo in my head couldn't pinpoint his location. After a while, the middle-aged man's voice resounded several times with the same content. This time I was able to confirm that the person was calling me, but in my memory, I don't know anyone with such a harsh asthmatic voice.

"What are you saying? What is a peaceful departure? Please don't disturb my sleep." I reluctantly replied in a slightly annoyed voice, while my eyes were still closed because I was still immersed in a deep sleep.

"Hey!! Apparently you let your soul drift to me and told you not to disturb your sleep? What kind of attitude is that?" The man's voice was more grumpy, but that didn't change the tone of his wheezing.

I slowly regained my composure after his words and opened one eye. And then... there was no one around, I thought it must have been the fever that was the reason why I was delirious so I fell asleep again. Lim dimmed for about ten seconds, then the voice spoke again, this time it seemed that he was quite angry so he raised his voice a bit.

"Get up quick, I don't have the patience for you to take a long nap here." This time his voice was a little clearer, but accompanied by vibrations that caused slight shaking. Or so I imagined.

"Hey, what do you want from my dream, tell me quickly so I can rest." I reluctantly answered him but kept my eyes closed, no matter how I opened them, there was no one to see.

"Do you really not know what your situation is like right now? "His voice softened a bit compared to before. He probably also knew, it was extremely impolite to disturb someone who was sleeping. But because I didn't know how to answer, I kept quiet, he asked me again while I didn't react. "Tell me, are you interested in the magical world?"

"Just kidding, of course I like it. Guess who can use magic, who wouldn't like it!?" I responded strongly and answered honestly.

"So how do you like magic?"

"I don't quite understand what you mean, magic is magic, not what it is." After saying that, the man and I were both silent for a while, as if we were both talking about different matters. I replied again. "If you ask me what magic I want, I want all the elemental abilities and spacetime magic, just like the games I've played before."

"What is that thing called game you play, I don't know. But, the elemental magic and spacetime magic you just mentioned I know, I can give it to you." His voice was back to its original wheeze, and the harsh echoes echoed in my ears.

But... why is this a bit familiar? It's like I've just been invited to try a game on the test server, and given a bunch of skills so that players can experience the best. Maybe ask him to set up a character to his liking, right? If he was a game producer, it wouldn't take long to create a character, but I usually spend a lot of time at this stage so I'm lazy.

"Hey, if you say so, can I ask you for a little more?" Silence for a few seconds, I only get a hum from him. I replied again. "Can you set me up with a female appearance, about sixteen years old, whose beauty is comparable to that of an angel?"

"Are you sure?" His voice was stern. "We can do that. But like that, he will completely no longer have this form of himself and his personality may... may also be changed. In other words, you will live in your new appearance as a woman, so consider it carefully."

"Since it's a game, how can it be?" I replied immediately, unconcerned with his reminders. "What matters is whether I can become a hero in that world, or just a useless kid like in real life." In other words, I was looking for something to escape from the failure of reality, and my pathetic self.

"You don't seem satisfied with your previous life, do you? Looking at you so sick, your health is probably not very good." The game maker said with a languid, somewhat disparaging expression.

"Most of what you say is right." I exhaled. "Recently, my diet is not enough, and I have a fever and I'm still in the rain, so now I'm exhausted."

We both fell into a long silence, neither of us saying a word. What was he thinking, didn't he, who was still smiling a moment ago, was now erratically silent.

"Okay, you have to picture in your mind the ideal person you want to go, then I will help you realize it." He suddenly spoke up just as I was about to smolder. "Apart from the magic you requested, is there anything else?"

This bragging tone of the game publisher made me a little uncomfortable. He said it was like there was a huge fortune that could be thrown in your face at any moment, then I would be greedy to hate and feel free to try more fun.

"If you say so then I would like to have the abilities of a skilled knight and have an ultimate arsenal of weapons in another dimension. Like it's easy to summon weapons just thinking about it, can you?" I said challenging him.

"Knight's genius, I can do it but you seem a bit greedy about your arsenal, are you sure that is all?" Even though he said I was greedy, his tone seemed unaffected by my level of demand.

"Ah!! What about side jobs? Can you give me a little introduction?" I ignored it, pretending to be crazy and asked another question.

"Secondary occupation? What?" He inquired.

"So in the world you say magic, for example, there will be more or less cases where the user gets permission early and the user gets late. Or there are people who won't be able to use magic and can't even be a warrior. With such poor qualifications, in the future those people should at least have another side job to earn a living. Like a merchant, a cook, a tailor, a painter, a musician or a builder."

"You mean jobs that make money?"

"You may think so." I didn't know how to refute his words, so I quietly agreed.

"So that's all you need? If it's just that, then think of the model in your head and I'll make it happen." It's still the way the people who have a lot of money before the game maker say it. It really makes me hate not being able to take everything he has. "And to assist you in your new world, I will give you additional linguistic and written intelligence to avoid you having trouble communicating."

"He, thank you for supporting me to the teeth." I can understand the word ban from his mouth saying install some additional software. But that way of saying it is as if this man is some kind of almighty being. Never mind, after all, the game he made, he has the right to fantasize. "Just do what you need to do, I need to get some sleep, then I'll join that world of yours later."

"I need to tell you more, right now your new body is an entity outside of the human realm in that world. All of that means, there will also be someone with the same power as you and will always oppose you, I don't know when that person will appear but I bet on you. Don't let the world I lead be destroyed in your hands." The voice of the game maker grew farther and farther away, and left many echoes in my head like the echo of a bell.

I ignored his last words and forgot to ask who he was in order to continue to fall asleep. Even though the game maker said something else after that, I couldn't resist falling asleep and just like that I fell asleep again.

At the edge of a forest, near the city of Domine on the Morbius Continent, there was a light that flashed for a moment and disappeared in the soft morning sun. A guard discovered the light pants and rushed to report to Princess Havaca Inceret.

"Princess, the patrol this morning discovered a strange light at the edge of the forest near the capital." The soldier's voice faltered.

"Quickly prepare the carriage so I can personally check what's going on." Princess Havaca spoke up. She was the one to temporarily handle foreign and domestic affairs on behalf of her father, King Verog Inceret II, who was busy traveling in a small neighboring country, but she had to put this aside for the time being.

"Obviously."

In the kingdom of Domine, everyone knows the beauty and strong personality of Princess Havaca. She has skin like clouds and eyes like the sky, along with that beauty is a person who hates injustice and is devoted to the people. However, because she was also only eighteen years old and a girl, many nobles were not satisfied with the decisions she made when she was too biased towards the lower classes at the expense of the nobles' interests. Contrary to the nobles for personal gain, Duke Harry and Duke Agatha were two people who always supported the princess's opinions. And sometimes the two even spontaneously do personal activities to help the black people, such as providing food or healing them. All for the purpose of building up the image of Princess Havaca.

Back to reality. When the princess' car and her escort of about sixty people had reached the area that was determined to be the location of the flash, a squad of defenses was dispatched to scan the area. Moments later, a soldier from the squad that was dispatched earlier returned to report to the princess.

"Report the princess. Our team has determined the location of the source of the light. That's the position of the vice-captain of the Lucia guard, but..." The soldier hesitated, showing a troubled expression.

"But what? What happened to her?" The princess became worried, almost wanting to jump off the carriage.

"I mean, she looks younger and is in a... undressed state." The soldier's voice softened, and he lowered his head in shame when he reported something rude.

"Hurry and put on a suit or something to cover her body and get her to my car right away." Havaca cleared her throat and ordered.

The princess was having a rather confused expression, as she knew that when her father Verog was traveling to a neighboring country, he was accompanied by the deputy guard Lucia. Now that she was reported to have found Lucia unconscious, what had happened to her father king? While immersed in a jumble of thoughts, the soldiers carried Lucia, or someone who resembled Lucia, who was unconscious, into the princess' carriage.

"Hurry back to the castle and all this must be kept absolutely secret." Havaca boldly ordered.

In the carriage, the princess looked at a girl who looked like Lucia but was a few years younger than anyone she knew. Was this really Lucia, who was four years older, she thought, or was this someone else? If this was Lucia, how could she be so young, and appear near the capital where the king had gone. On the other hand, if this wasn't Lucia, she would be completely safe for her father's trip. And the question is: who is this girl, why does she look so similar to the vice-captain of the royal guard? Princess Havaca hoped that the matter would fall into the second situation, and she quietly returned with her escort.
