Sam grumbled all the way while Dakota is about to fall asleep. Sam looks annoyed to see who Dakota met without telling him.

"Never mind Sam, she just happened to come to campus, it’s no big deal"

"You said it’s no big deal? She may be the one behind the girl's disappearance, and so far we haven't ruled out her alibi yet. So she is probably the most dangerous by far."

Dakota felt dizzy, maybe partly because Sam had been talking all along. Not to mention that the road in front of him was badly jammed and he was forced to stop his vehicle while cursing. Sam turned and saw Dakota who closed his eyes while massaging his forehead.

“Do you have a headache? Want me to send you to the hospital? Kim said it's time for your regular check-up."

Dakota shook his head.

"No need Sam, it's already night, it's better to just go back to the apartment, I can go there by myself tomorrow"

Sam pulled his lips, drive his vehicle when the vehicle in front started to move.

"Stubborn,"

"Heh," Sam put his coffee cup on the table and sat down. Another day had passed; for the past two days, everyone had been working like machines without rest. He only returned to his apartment after midnight, slept for a few hours, and then went back to the office for their case. Oddly, the downtown bombing case stopped progressing after the discovery of a secret laboratory, which is now being handled entirely by federal police. They'll let them know if there's any development. Rina and Aris had already looked for every clue, even the smallest ones, but it seemed they'd hit a dead end.Emma sat on the comfortable sofa in the lounge; she'd already enjoyed her coffee and watched the morning news before Sam arrived.“Boss, what’s the status of our case? What should I do with those two kids in my room? Their family has suddenly disappeared and can’t be reached at all,” Emma said.Sam pulled his lips back, opening the box of donuts on the table; more than half remained. Sunlight streamed

But Dakota wasn't affected at all, even though Luke was teasing him."I just think, he had unfinished work here, it's very strange that he just disappeared like that," Dakota replied.Luke smiled. He nodded."Of course. But, I hear Mr. Meyers has a track record of moving from place to place and many people want him, he might be considering looking for a new job. I'll ask the campus secretary about how to handle a unilateral breach of contract, it's a real shame," Luke said.Dakota seemed to resume his meal, until her phone vibrated again, a notification from a group message. He picked up his phone and read it. He hadn't even finished reading it when he got a call from Sam.Zrrttt.

    Besieged

Aris threw his hands up in the air.“Damn those kids, how old are they? Still bullying people like they’re still in high school,” he exclaimed angrily. He pushed the chair back with his body and stood up, leaving the room. Beni pursed his lips; his partner was really hot-headed. He then stood up and followed Aris out of the room. Before leaving, Beni took the time to tidy up the chair and put it back in its place before casually walking out of the room.***Heavy rain poured outside the wide hospital window. While waiting for the doctor to allow them to go home, Dakota and Sam sat on the sofa looking at some notes Andi had left on a flash drive—videos of himself. Meanwhile, Dakota read some diary entries the team found in Andi’s apartment. Sam watched several videos from A

  • Belinda's Journal

Yesterday morning, after spending the night in the detention cell, the officers found him dead, covered in blood, with a gaping wound in his chest. The boy had even pulled out his own heart and held it, perhaps watching his own heart stop beating until he died. A truly horrifying death for everyone who saw it.It was determined he inflicted the wound himself, using a spoon he’d taken from the officers’ dinner plates when they’d brought him in. His body was stiff when they found him; the night officer thought he was asleep because there was no sound from inside the room; he’d pulled the blanket tight around himself. There was so much blood it looked like a horrifying red pool in the room. Before he died, the young man had written some words on the wall. Sam really didn’t want to show it to Dakota, but how could he hide it?“They will come for you, Professor.”Those words—how likely was it that they weren’t meant for Dakota?Dakota saw the plastic bag Sam had brought from the office, so

The young man’s face… it was like the face of the stabber at the mall yesterday. He was clearly a special needs child, possibly one of the children from those secret laboratory experiments.Dakota looked at the three campus security guards standing watch, batons in hand. A few more guards were just appearing behind them. Luke moves in front Dakota to keep him from harm.“Hey kid, calm down. Do you know what you’ve done? You just killed someone. You’re smart, you don’t want to die stupidly or go to jail, right?” Luke asked, though he knew it was too late to talk him down, he still had to try.The young man grinned, raising a long, kitchen-knife-like blade that gleamed sharply. He wiped the remaining blood on the blade with his tongue, licking it clean. Luke fought back a wave of nausea.“Oh.”“They study air theory, let them feel what it’s like to fly through the air. • Bad Feeling

Emma sat back down, and it was now Rina's case. Sam looked serious until his phone in his pocket vibrated. A call from someone he wasn't expecting, just as he thought. Jack Moris from the federal agency."Yeah," Sam said, getting up from his seat. He glanced at Ron across from him, then got up to answer the phone.“You’re incredible! We haven’t even released any reports to headquarters, how did you know about this? Did you plant spies in our office?” Sam asked. Jack Moris’s voice boomed in his ear; Sam had to pull the phone away, his ear aching from the man’s thunderous tone.“Ouch, that’s loud,” he muttered, pressing the phone back to his ear.“This might not even be the same case. Why don’t you let us handle this first? You won’t be late getting information, trust me. It could just be a random attack, like what usually happens. Anyone can go crazy, right? Are you sure this is
