The girl was rushed into an emergency surgery, which was the only way out.
The parents were staying outside the operating room, praying and hoping for her to come back healthy and strong After what seemed like forever, the surgery finally came to an end. “How is she?” Both asked at the same time. “The surgery went well but we can't say anything for now, until she wakes up. Let's only hope that she wouldn't enter the comatose stage because her body is failing already” the doctor explained while they both nodded in affirmations, keeping the hope high. They were still there for another thirty minutes before she was finally wheeled out of the operating room. They followed her to the ICU for close monitoring and to provide support. *** “Mummy” Angel called as she ran out to meet Vivian. It was after the school hours and they both came to her school to pick her up. “Hi uncle” she greeted, giving Carl a hug as well but he bent a bit to carry her and threw her to the air for a while. Giggles filled the air because the three were excited. “Why are you here? I'm amazed to see you both” she finally asked after laughing to her satisfaction. “Carl is taking us out for lunch. Initially I wanted to deny it but knowing you have been begging to try the new Chinese restaurant in town, I couldn't say no” Vivian explained. “Not only to eat lunch but we will also do some shopping as well” Carl added. “Yay!” The girl was excited as they all entered inside the car. Carl was the one driving, Vivian was sitting beside him while Angel was sitting at the back seat. They were all laughing and gisting till they arrived at the restaurant. They placed orders for foods and started eating slowly, quietly and happily till their mood was distributed by a man. He looked like he was in his late thirties and he appeared to be a bit wealthy as well. He came with a lady, who walked hand in hand with him as they both entered inside the restaurant. “Gosh! Who do we have here” he greeted with a tone of mockery. Vivian raised her head up, took a deep breath and tried to ignore him but he, David, would not let her be. “Hello! Are you blind to see me?” He called, trying to get her attention. Carl looked at him, then focused back on his meal. “Vivian!” He shouted, called with anger noticeable from his voice due to the way he was ignored. “David, please. I don't have time for you today as you can see that I'm busy “ she tried to ignore him again but he tried to prove stubborn by wanting to pull her hair, inviting Carl's rant. Carl met his hand half way, punched him on his chin while he fell down on the floor. “Argh” he groaned in pain. “What the heck are you doing?” His girlfriend screamed and helped him up again. He spat out blood which made it obvious that he had sustained some injuries in his mouth. “How dare you? Who the hell do you think you are?” David yelled louder this time around. “Try to disturb her one more time and watch me send you to hell” Carl threatened then focused back on his meal. “Vivian! I knew you were such a bitch! How dare you watch this stupid boyfriend of yours to threaten me? Have you always been like this? Sleeping around with some nuisance all in the name of eating in a Chinese restaurant? Cos both of us know that you can't afford it!” David yelled again. “Enough of this trash, David. I'll not sit here and allow you to rubbish me in front of my girl and friend. Are you that obsessed with me? I left you cos you quit cheating on me but it seems you can't let go of me. It's been five years, David, move on! Stop embarrassing me everywhere and by the way, I now have a good job, so stop downgrading my financial status” she defended herself almost immediately. “Really? A good job by sleeping with men randomly? I told you, Vivian. If I don't have you, I bet nobody else will. I might have multiple girlfriends but you are the one I want forever. Come back home with my daughter and I'll forgive all the trash you have been doing” he said again but Angel voiced out immediately. “No, I don't want him to be my daddy. I prefer uncle to be my daddy and not him. He looks dangerous “ she says with her tiny voice. “W-what! Is that what you have been teaching my daughter? You must have gone nuts! Hey, look here girl, I am your father and there is nothing you can change about that” he said again, clinching his fist. “Hey! Stop scarring her. She is still a baby. By the way, the same daughter that you abandoned all these while? I bet you do not know that you have not a single penny from her upbringing” Vivian defended herself. “Enough of this. Let's go home. That's enough for today” Carl interrupted as the argument ruined the happy mood. They all stood up but David went to block their way out. “You ain't going nowhere. I have no business with you but with Vivian and my daughter. Step aside!” He roared like a lion but it took Carl just a kick before he sent him down flattery on the ground. He cried for help but nobody paid attention to him. “Idiot!” Carl hissed as he walked out with Vivian and Angel. “I'm sorry, you have to witness that. I'll try to put things under control to prevent things like this from happening again” Vivian immediately apologized as they got back inside the car. “You have nothing to apologize for, he is a troublesome person but trust me, I'll allow anybody to bully you again, I'll protect you and Angel” he promised which made Vivian smile and hug him slightly. “We still haven't gone shopping,” Angel said from the back seat. “Yes and we will be heading there now” Carl replied. “Hurry up, I have some things to get at the mall” she added “Yes princess “ Carl replied again and they both laughed. **** “Bastard! Who the heck does he think he is?” Carl, speaking to no one in particular, was fuming with anger inside his room. Recalling his encounter with David, he was annoyed. No one should bully Vivian and go Scot free. She deserves nothing but good comfort. Asking Vivian about his details is like pouring water inside a basket cus obviously, she wouldn't tell him all what he wanted to hear. He could only walk into her library in the disguise of finding a book inside the library. He knew ladies like to document the daily affairs either inside their dairy or somewhere in a book they like reading most. He searched for about forty minutes before he was able to see an old diary. Inside the diary was a photo of Vivian and David, the one they took when they were still dating. He sat somewhere on the ground, reading from page to page. The maltreatment started when she caught him cheating on her birthday and instead of apologizing, he blamed her for not exploring his sexual fantasy with him. She thought he was going to change after he proposed a few days later but no, it was getting tougher and more difficult. She realized she was pregnant for him and was excited. On the day of breaking the good news to him, she caught him on the bed with two different ladies, having a threesome with them. Instead of apologizing, he blamed her again for coming when she wasn't invited. She had enough and decided to cut him off. He got to know about the pregnancy later but he requested her to move inside his house with him and the child, before he would take responsibility for the baby but she declined his order. She began working harder than before, affording a begetting life for her daughter and herself. Since then, he would embarrass her anything he sees her, getting more obsessed with her newly found better identity. Carl was furious. Vivian didn't deserve what she had been through. “It is high time to put an end to this embarrassment” he pledged, pen down the address gotten from the diary and left. **** “What do you mean she couldn't wake up? This is 12 hrs after the surgery and she couldn't wake up? How come she couldn't wake up after a successful surgery like you claimed? How?” Richard's voice echoed through the ICU. “You need to keep your voice down. It isn't our fault. We told you already, her body is already weak from the previous surgeries “ the resident doctor explained. “Doctor please, you need to help me. She needs to survive this. I can't have another child according to my medical report, she is my only hope” Alisha desperately begged. They were still on it when the chief doctor walked in. “Doctor” both Alisha and Richard called at the same time. “I'm sorry but we need to watch over her for a while. If there are no changes, then we would need to let go of her to rest. I'm sorry once again” the chief doctor explained. “What!” Alisha exclaimed. “But why? A miracle can happen” the Chief doctor finalized his words before stepping out while the resident doctor followed behind. “A miracle? Carl?” Richard murmured.Latest Chapter

Then realization struck him. Andrew. The card belonged to Andrew. Or perhaps Benjamin. He had no idea how these wealthy people's bank cards worked.Maybe it required a password, maybe it needed activation, maybe there were restrictions. Whatever the reason...He had no clue. Unfortunately...Andrew wasn't here. Earlier, he himself had insisted Andrew and the hidden bodyguards keep their distance. Now he couldn't even ask what was wrong. He sighed inwardly. Talk about bad timing. The saleswoman remained extremely polite. "Sir, would you like to try another payment method?"Carl smiled bitterly. "I only have this card." He didn't bring his bank card with him, afterall he'd been abducted in broad day light the other day. "I understand." Despite the failed transaction, she showed no trace of impatience. She simply stood there quietly. Completely different from the previous salesman. He appreciated that. At least she treated customers with respect. Outside the store, however, the first sa

The sales assistant frowned and looked Carl up and down."You were actually planning to buy something?" he asked seriously. Then he muttered under his breath,"I doubt you've ever even stepped into a luxury store before, let alone bought anything from one. Hmph... all talk."Of course, he kept his voice low enough that most people wouldn't hear him.Although he didn't think Carl was worth his time, he didn't dare make it too obvious. If he openly treated a customer badly and someone reported him, he could lose his job.Even so, Carl could easily tell what the man was thinking."Of course I came here to buy something," Carl replied calmly. "If not, why would I be here? But congratulations, you've successfully driven away a customer."The sales assistant forced out a dry laugh and waved his hands awkwardly."Ah, why would I chase away a customer? You must have misunderstood me."He quickly put on an apologetic smile."If I've done anything to offend you, then I sincerely apologize." Whi

Carl entered the luxury vehicle whose door had been respectfully opened for him.The moment he settled into the comfortable leather seat, the door closed softly behind him. A few seconds later, the convoy began moving. He glanced out the window, then he glanced again. The more he looked, the more weird he felt. In front of his vehicle were several luxury cars, and also behind his vehicle were even more luxury cars.Every of the car moved in perfect formation. The entire convoy occupied a significant portion of the road.He couldn't help feeling slightly embarrassed. It should be that he was more amused. "I look like some important government official."Andrew sat opposite him, and remained silent even after hearing him. He chuckled. "No, seriously."Still silence."Or maybe a president."Andrew continued to say nothing. Carl rubbed his chin with a sigh. Talking to Andrew was truly exhausting. Fortunately, he had expected this and had long grown accustomed to it. Since the estate w

Since his dignity had already been thrown to the ground, he decided to go with the flow. Besides, these men worked for Benjamin. It wasn't like he would keep seeing them after he left this place.Thinking about it, the last time he had gone shopping was months ago. Back when Vivian was still around. Since then, his life had become increasingly busy and stressful, except for the one week break he gave himself. One thing after another kept happening. Treating patients, studying medicine, designing his medicine room, and meeting Louis.Everything had happened so fast that he barely had time to think. Shopping had never even crossed his mind. Now that he thought about it, he really had been wearing the same few outfits over and over again. He felt slightly embarrassed.Only slightly, there was no way he was admitting that out loud."Still not going," he said firmly.Andrew wasn't surprised at all. In fact, he looked like he had expected that answer. "Mr. Benjamin insists."He rolled his e

He gave up. There was simply no point. Benjamin would return this weekend anyway. Even if Carl somehow escaped the estate, Andrew would probably track him down before he reached the front gate. The thought was depressing, and his mood got ruined instantly. With Andrew's words, he no longer has any interest in strolling anymore. He turned around heading back for his room "I'm leaving."Andrew immediately replied. "I know."Carl stopped. "...Back to my room.""I know."Carl clenched his fists. This man was definitely doing it on purpose. He had to be. Nobody could naturally be this irritating. Gia quickly stepped forward before the situation escalated further. "Young Master Carl, shall we return?"He glanced at the smiling maid. Compared to Andrew, Gia suddenly seemed like an angel."Let's go."The two began walking away. Behind them, Andrew remained standing, while watching them leave silently, until he could no longer sight them. Meanwhile, Carl didn't bother looking back. His mood

The maid looked ahead, and he followed her gaze. His expression immediately changed.A familiar figure was standing near a stone pavilion. Tall and well dressed with his usual calm demeanor. It was Andrew. Carl blinked twice. For a moment, he almost thought he was imagining things. After all, Andrew had been missing since yesterday.Andrew noticed them almost immediately. Their eyes met across the garden, and a smile appeared on his face. Not the formal smile he usually wore. This one looked genuine. He couldn't help but wonder if it was because he'd been brought here?"Young Master Carl." Andrew walked over, his hands tuck in his pocket. Carl rolled his eyes. "There it is again."Andrew chuckled. "What?""The title."Andrew's smile widened. "I'm afraid everyone has already accepted it."Carl groaned. This estate was hopeless. Still… as he walked toward Andrew, he couldn't deny something. Seeing the man unexpectedly made him feel relieved. At least now, there was finally someone aro
