Vivian kept wondering what was happening between the two men and why Alisha was shocked cos it was all written over her face.

“Are you okay?” She asked no one in particular and received no response.

“How come? How come he is here? How come he is alive?” Alisha thought out loudly, making Carl grin.

“I know you would be shocked. I'm alive and I think that's the important thing. By the way, I'm glad to see you here, needing my help. Your betrayal!” He replied with a cold tone, trying as much as possible to control his anger.

“A miracle happens and I believe in one. Since we are here, tell us whatever you need to treat my daughter. A thousand dollars? Ten thousand dollars? Mention it and I shall give you here at this moment “ Richard replied, trying to hide his shock and behave like a man that he was.

“Oh, do you think this is all money? Gosh! Your mindset would never change. What do I expect from a criminal” Carl responded.

All the drama that was going gave Vivian no answer to get numerous questions. She had to keep watching them, trying to connect the dots from their words but none was connecting together.

“What do you want? I do not want to believe that you are the healer but since you were recommended, I assume it to be true. Nevertheless, I still wonder when you became a healer, using traditional ways of leaving. By the way, who is this lady and the adorable princess? The last time that I checked, you have no family members left. Or do you have a secret family elsewhere? Could you possibly be cheating on Alisha when you were still married?” He asked again, trying not to sound too serious.

“I don't think this is the right time to discuss things like that, I think our daughter's health is more important. By the way, we need to hear his terms and conditions and work on them” Alisha immediately said, cautioning Richard.

“This is my place. You have no right to open your mouth and talk to me anyhow. Not when you are the one needing my help” Carl immediately responded.

“Back to our discussion, how much do you need? Name your price because I'm sure that you definitely need that money more than anything else” Richard said again.

“Gosh! You are still the dumbass as usual, who thought everybody is after money like him. As you can see with your open eyes, money isn't my problem like you stated, I can get as much as I want within a twinkle of an eye. You have money, I have money. I have the power to heal your daughter which you lack. I believe you should know by now that I am bigger than you and if you think you can steal this power as well, go ahead and let's see if you can” Carl uttered, smirking at the same time.

His words annoyed Richard, making him fold his fist in anger but yet, he tried to control his anger knowing Carl was saying nothing but the Truth.

He might not be sure about his current financial status but the villa he met him was big enough to judge his financial status and by the way, he could heal his daughter as stated which was something that he could not do, even his money couldn't heal his daughter.

“What do you want?” He managed to ask after a few seconds of silence.

“Don't you think we should talk about it over a cup of tea? I offer my client good customer service, you can follow me” Carl replied, leading the way to the balcony while others followed.

“Kindly get us something to drink and much on. I like a cup of tea and some snacks” he ordered Vivian who nodded her head and left immediately.

The place was as silent as a graveyard.

Carl was giving no expression, Alisha was scared and Richard seemed to be confused.

A few minutes after, Vivian was back with a tray of tea and was about to serve them when Richard voiced out.

“You don't need to. I don't have much time to waste and isn't after the entertainment of a thing. Let's go straight to the point. State what you want and treat my daughter. If you failed to treat her, watch me doing the unimaginable” he uttered.

“Are you scared the tea is poisoned? Is your conscious judging you to think I'll kill you like a piece of rat? Nay! We don't do that here. I always rescue lives not vice versa” Carl scoffed.

“I don't have time, Carl. All these ain't necessary” Richard said again but Carl paid deaf ears.

He picked up his own portion of tea and sipped from it .

Vivian smiled, then left, giving them some privacy to discuss. The intensity in the environment was getting hotter, so she had to leave.

“I only have a request and as long as you fulfill that, then we have no problem whatsoever” Carl demanded while the couples paid attention to listen to whatever request he wanted to say.

“Go back to the barrack, confess your sins and I'll happily treat your daughter” he dropped the bombshell.

The place went silent for the second time with heart bumping blood in a louder form.

After two minutes of silence, Richard suddenly burst into a loud laughter.

“Cmom Carl, both of us know that it was a mission impossible. I should go back to the military base to tell them what exactly? That I killed you and you woke up? That I framed you? Oh no! Stop talking like a kid. You could have requested for money and that wouldn't be a problem “ He finally responded.

“Well, if that is a problem then you both need to take your leave immediately. I have a lot to do” Carl replied then left the place.

“Babe!” Alisha called, referring to Richard who seemed not to pay any attention to her cos his gaze was fixed on Carl who just walked away.

“Damn!” He cursed, grinding his teeth.

“Carl? Again? Tell no! I won once and will win again. Just wait and see” he pledged then stood up in annoyance while Alisha tailed behind.

***

“Hmmm…” Vivian took a deep breath.

“That's what conspired between Richard and I. He was the reason behind the condition you found me with, when you met me. I do not need his money, I only want my name out of the black record where criminals' names were written in” he explained to Vivian.

“If he fails to do that, I trust you, you will surely do that for yourself “ she assured him.

“But what about the child? Will she be okay without your healing hands? Will you not regret it if she passes away? Her parents offended you, don't let the girl get punished for their deed” she begged.

“Richard will come back for the girl's purpose? I trust Alisha, she wouldn't let him rest until they come back but Richard is deadly, he will come back but might be in another way. Well, I'll prepare for him cos he might want to use another deadly method this time around as well” he replied, then smirked.

The following day, at the hospital. Alisha was sitting beside her daughter's hospital bed when Richard walked in.

“How is her health?” He asked.

Alisha, who had been crying clean off her tears before she began talking.

“Her condition has deteriorated since last night. The doctor couldn't figure out the causes of the changes in her body. I don't know what else to do “ she explained, then began sobbing again.

Richard took a deep breath. His daughter has been in pain for a very long time and all he has been doing is spending money, inviting doctors and keeping his hope high.

Will she ever survive this?

When will the pain be over?

What will be his faith if she lost her life at the end of the day?

He kept thinking and sat beside Alisha. Slowly, he pulled her over, to her head on his shoulder.

“She would be fine. I can assure you of that” he said.

“Are you sure? You have been telling me that for a while. Are you sure she is going to be fine?” She asked again.

“Yes, she is a strong girl. She fought till this moment, so I'm sure she will be fine. Have you eaten today?” He said, asking cos he wasn't there with them the entire night. He was needed at work where he has been.

“What about what Carl said, can't we just do it?” Alisha asked after telling him that she hadn't eaten since the previous night.

“Shhhh” he shut her up.

“Leave Carl, I'll handle him. He was only able to make horrible requests while he was alive. I'll make sure to send him back to heaven, then he will stop murmuring rubbish all in the name of request “ he added, then gestured to her to stand up, so they could go out for lunch.

As they were about to step out, the life supporting machine that was attached to their daughter, started beeping loudly.

“Doctor! Doctor! Help!” Alisha screamed while Carl was dumbfounded, watching his daughter gasping for air scared him to the home.

The medical personnel arrived shortly and both were sent out of the hospital ward, for them to attend to her.

They were outside, peeping from the small hole on the door but unable to see anything.

After an hour of waiting outside, the door finally opened and a nurse came out.

“What is happening?” They both asked that nurse that came out at the same time.

“I don't know but the doctor will come out to address the situation soon but I was instructed to prepare for a surgery room immediately” she said as she dashed out from their sight.

“What! Another surgery? Again?” Alisha murmured and collapsed on the floor.

Chapter 57Carl was surprised. The moment he stepped out of his apartment building that morning, the first person he saw was a familiar man. For a brief second, Carl thought he was imagining things. But no, the man stood there calmly, dressed in another expensive suit, his hands behind his back as though he had been waiting for him all morning.Carl's brows twitched. His mind instantly drifted back to that strange night, the night he had been stranded and was desperately searching for a cab but some ended up meeting this man with so many expensive cars behind him. At the time, the man had acted as though their meeting was nothing more than a coincidence. Yet now, seeing him standing in front of his apartment building first thing in the morning, Carl found that explanation harder and harder to believe. What's he doing here? Carl thinks that the man shouldn't have been able to recognise this place since it was in the night that they brought him home. Is it a coincidence? He sighed d

"Geez, get lost!"Carl nearly shouted as he shoved the arm wrapped across his body.Goodness, why does my morning have to start with seeing this brat?Groaning, he pushed away the sleeping Louis, who had somehow managed to throw his entire body onto him during the night.Carl was so annoyed with himself that he couldn't stop frowning.Although he had agreed to let a stranger stay the night, he had never intended to fall asleep. Worse still, he couldn't believe he had dozed off on the sofa right beside this troublesome brat.Argh! If anger could kill, Carl would have died a hundred times over in the span of a few seconds."His name is Louis... Louis..." Carl muttered while staring at the sleeping figure. "Can't you just do your job and leave, huh?"A moment later, he shook his head.Forget it. It's not like he can hear me.Rolling his eyes, Carl headed to his room for a shower. After getting dressed for the day, he went into the kitchen to prepare a quick breakfast.Since he was only

While waiting for Louis to return, and with nothing else occupying his time, Carl picked up his phone and began scrolling through it.A moment later, he checked his bank balance.“Argh! Carl, you're going broke!”After doing a quick calculation, he realized he only had around ten thousand dollars left.As for where all his money had disappeared to, he knew exactly why. That so-called largest medical supply store in the city had practically robbed him blind. They had completely drained his wallet. And then there was the room renovation.Carl had never imagined he would spend so much money furnishing a single room. Still, he had no intention of stopping midway. If he was doing it, then it had to be done properly.Rubbing his temples, he sighed heavily.Being poor wasn't pleasant. But being flat broke was even worse.“What can I do? What can I do...?” Carl muttered, staring thoughtfully at the ceiling.Suddenly, his eyes lit up.“Ah! I know.”He immediately sat upright. The next moment,

“Hello, who are you?” Carl asked, his face filled with confusion as he stood at the doorway staring at the blond-haired man before him. His mood was already sour after being dragged out of bed by the relentless ringing of the doorbell. The blond-haired man seemed completely oblivious to Carl’s frown. He casually brushed past him and walked straight into the house as if he owned the place.“Hey, I’m Louis. We chatted yesterday. I’m the furnisher,” he said as he made himself comfortable on the sofa.Without sparing Carl’s stunned expression a glance, he dropped his black backpack beside him.“You’re really the person I spoke with yesterday?” Carl asked again, disbelief evident in his voice.“Mhm.” Louis nodded. “Didn’t Fatty show you my picture?”“Heh? Fatty? Who’s that?” Carl blinked in confusion.“Fatty is the one who introduced me to you. My maternal uncle.” Louis shrugged, stretching his arms across the back of the sofa. From that description, Carl immediately realized he was talkin

Carl walked out of the store but didn't leave right away. His gaze drifted toward the security post, and after a brief hesitation, he headed in that direction."Hello, can I ask you something?" he asked the security guard."Sure." The guard nodded."I'm looking for someone who furnishes rooms. Do you know anyone?"Before approaching the guard, Carl had spent some time debating whether he should search online for someone to help design his medicine room. However, after giving it some thought, he decided it would be better to ask someone directly and get a recommendation."Hmm..."Carl stood quietly to the side, patiently waiting while the guard thought."Oh, yeah. I can give you his contact information. If you need his services tomorrow, he'll definitely come," the guard finally said confidently.Carl felt relieved upon hearing that, but he couldn't help being curious about the man's confidence."How do you know him?"He wanted to be certain that the person being recommended was reliab

“Excuse me, are you talking to me?” Carl turned toward the middle-aged pharmacist. His expression remained calm and polite because he chose to believe those rude remarks weren't directed at him.“Hmph. Of course I'm talking to you. Who else is acting so arrogantly? Everyone has been staring at you, yet you keep piling up medicines as if nobody else exists.”At the pharmacist words, Carl glanced around.Sure enough, the pharmacist wasn't exaggerating.Almost every customer in the pharmacy had paused what they were doing and was staring at him with obvious disdain.Scoff!“And how exactly is that any of your business?” Carl shot back coldly. “I'm here to shop, just like everyone else. If you don't like the way I do things, then ignore me or leave. Either way, it has nothing to do with me.”His voice carried a trace of anger. What kind of nonsense was this?Under normal circumstances, he might have politely explained that he wasn't being arrogant. But after receiving such judgmental loo
