Ethan finally stopped, turning his gaze to see Vanessa and Damian standing just a few steps away.

Vanessa was draped in an elegant designer dress, her arms crossed, her lips curled in amusement.

Damian, dressed in an expensive tailored suit, had one hand tucked in his pocket while the other was casually slung over Vanessa’s waist.

Damian let out a low chuckle, shaking his head.

“Unbelievable. I thought we left the stray dog in the dirt, but here he is, wagging his tail again.”

Vanessa tilted her head.

“Maybe he’s here to beg?”

She smirked. “How pathetic.”

Ethan remained calm, his hands resting inside his pockets.

Damian let out a mock sigh. "You do realize where you are, don’t you? This isn’t a place for people like you.”

He adjusted his cufflinks before giving Ethan a disdainful look. "Unlike you, I actually belong here.”

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Oh?”

Damian’s smirk widened. "That’s right.”

He puffed his chest out. “I was personally invited to Aurelius Group’s anniversary celebration today. Not just anyone gets invited, you know.”

Vanessa giggled, linking her arm through Damian’s.

“Not just invited, darling. Damian is about to finalize a massive partnership with Aurelius Group!”

Damian flashed a smug grin.

“Once the deal is signed today, my family will officially rise from a third-tier family to a second-tier powerhouse.

Vanessa ran a manicured hand down Damian’s chest, her eyes twinkling with arrogance."Unlike you, Ethan. You have nothing. No money, no status, and absolutely no right to be here.”

Damian chuckled. “And yet, here you are. A useless insect trying to sneak into a world far beyond your reach.”

Ethan scoffed, his lips curling into a sneer.

He tilted his head slightly.

“And you’re already celebrating?” His gaze flickered with amusement.

“Who said the deal would actually go through?”

Vanessa’s smug expression flickered for a brief second before she scoffed. "Are you delusional?”

Damian burst out laughing.

“Oh my God, that’s rich! You think you know anything about this world?”

He stepped closer, his voice dripping with mockery. “Listen, Piggy , do you even know how business works? Deals like these aren’t just ‘hopeful negotiations’—they’re built on relationships, power, and real money.”

Vanessa smirked. “Something you’ll never have.”

Ethan shrugged. “Is that so?”

Damian’s expression hardened. “Tch, I’ve had enough of your nonsense.”

He snapped his fingers, calling over two uniformed security guards who were stationed at the entrance.

The guards quickly approached.

Damian smirked, pointing at Ethan. "This guy isn’t invited. Get him out of here.”

Vanessa laughed, covering her mouth with a gloved hand. “Oh dear, how embarrassing.”

Damian chuckled. “Imagine thinking you could actually walk in here. You don’t belong, Ethan. You never did.”

Ethan didn’t flinch.

Instead, he let out a low chuckle. "Are you sure about that?”

Ethan held his ground, calmly producing a sleek black card emblazoned with Aurelius Group’s insignia.

He raised it for the guards and Damian to see.

“Does this give me the right to enter?” he asked, his tone razor-sharp.

Damian snorted, folding his arms across his chest. “What’s that supposed to be? A crayon drawing of Aurelius Group’s logo?”

Vanessa let out a mocking laugh. "Oh, please. Did you print that in your basement, Ethan? Are you really that desperate to fake status?”

Ethan’s gaze never wavered. "Last time I checked, Aurelius Group doesn’t hand these out to random stray pigs.”

The security guards exchanged skeptical glances.

One guard, a brawny man with a rigid posture, scoffed. "I’ve been working here for years, and I’ve never seen a card like that. Nice try, buddy.”

Damian chuckled, shaking his head. "So you’re telling us you have some super-secret, never-before-seen VIP pass? And we’re supposed to believe that? You?”

Vanessa giggled, linking her arm through Damian’s.

“He’s like a cockroach scurrying around with a piece of shiny trash, hoping someone will think it’s real treasure.”

The guard stepped forward, towering over Ethan.

“Look, punk, we don’t need your forged junk around here. You’re trespassing on private property.”

Damian smirked, waving a dismissive hand. “Get out of my way.”

“You heard him. Scram. Unless you want to be dragged out by force.”

Vanessa’s lips curved in a taunting smile. "Oh, I’d pay good money to see that. A weak, pathetic insect finally squashed under someone’s boot.”

Ethan let out a slow breath. “You can try.”

At that, the guard’s patience snapped.

He lunged forward, grabbing for Ethan’s arm. "Alright, wise guy, let’s see how tough you really—”

SMACK!

Before anyone could blink, the guard’s outstretched hand was slapped away with a casual backhand that sent him stumbling.

The impact echoed through the marble foyer, silencing every snide remark.

Damian’s eyes widened. “What the—?!”

Vanessa’s mouth hung open. “H-How did…?”

Ethan rolled his shoulders, as though unbothered by what had just happened.

His thoughts, however, buzzed with the aftershock of the power surging through him. So this is what my training has done? He hadn’t even put forth real effort, yet the guard stumbled like a leaf in a storm.

The second security guard tensed, eyeing his comrade who was now clutching his wrist and trying to regain his balance.

“You want trouble?” he growled, hands hovering near his utility belt.

"But it's not the same!" Vanessa protested, tears flowing freely now."You can't expect me to just... accept this. There must be something we can do. Some evidence we can find. Some way to turn this around."She shook her head violently. "We're Callums! We don't surrender! That's what you always taught me!"Jonathan nodded slowly. "And I meant it. But right now, what I need you to do is stay strong—for yourself, for your mother, and for Yvonne."His voice grew more serious. "The journey ahead will be difficult. The media and public will be brutal—they’ll crucify you. Former partners will walk away, and even more investors will pull out. But as a Callum, you’ll have to rebuild our reputation, brick by brick.”He gave her more pieces of advice on how to head the company in his absence. As he spoke, her expression slowly changed. Her tears dried, and something harder took their place."I'll do more than that," she vowed."I'll make Ethan regret the day he ever came after our family."Her

Vanessa’s heart raced as she sat in the cramped visitor’s area of the station where Jonathan was being held. The room was small, with plain concrete walls painted in a dull, washed-out beige. A metal table was bolted to the floor in the center with two uncomfortable chairs facing each other—one of which she was sitting on. A security camera watched from the corner. Her hands shook slightly as she kept checking the door where they would bring her father. When the door finally opened and the officer brought Jonathan in, she felt like someone had punched her in the chest."Dad!" she cried out, her voice breaking. He looked nothing like the powerful businessman everyone knew. His normally perfect hair was messy, and he hadn't shaved. Dark circles under his eyes showed how little he had slept. His hands were cuffed in front of him, and he walked with slumped shoulders.Seeing the man who seemed invincible her whole life now looking so defeated made tears fill her eyes. The officer left the

The question hung in the air between them, heavy with the weight of what was to come. The room seemed to shrink around them, the air growing thick with tension. Damian's lips curled into a knowing smirk. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, eyes locked with his father's."It's simple, just like I said earlier," he replied, enunciating each word clearly. "You reverse your decision. You claim me back as your son—a Hayes and the rightful heir to the empire. And you step down completely, transferring leadership to me."He spread his hands. "That's it. That's all you have to do to save yourself from complete destruction."Silence filled the room. Mr. Hayes sat frozen, his mind racing through possibilities and scenarios at lightning speed. Behind his swollen eye and bruised face, his thoughts whirled like a hurricane."If I refuse, everything is over," he thought, feeling a cold weight settle in his stomach. "The company, my reputation, possibly even my freedom—all gone.""But if I

On the phone screen was an email chain—one Mr. Hayes recognized all too well. His own words, in black and white, ordering the use of the cheaper chemical compound. And below it, attached files showing every falsified safety report, every bribe, every cover-up—all bearing his electronic signature. But what truly made his blood run cold was the recipient list at the top of the email: the entire board of directors, major shareholders, and—most damning of all—the federal regulatory committee's confidential tip line. The email had not been sent yet. It was still in draft form."Where did you get this?" he croaked, his earlier confidence evaporating like morning mist.Damian leaned back, a satisfied smile playing across his lips. His eyes never left his father's face, drinking in every flicker of panic that crossed those features."Take a guess,” Damian smirked, finally picking up his glass for the first time since the conversation began. He took a slow sip, his eyes still on the old man a

"What?" Mr. Hayes nearly choked on the word, his eyes bulging as he stared at his Damina disbelief. "Did you just tell me to transfer control of the company directly to you? The same company valued at over two billion dollars?"Now sitting on the armchair across from Damian, he winced as his sore body met the hard cushion. He grabbed the armrest so tightly his knuckles went white, the pain fading for a moment—overshadowed by the shock of such a ridiculous demand."Are you out of your mind?" he added, his voice rising. With a calm smirk playing on his lips, Damian nodded. "Yes, that's exactly what I said. Complete transfer of CEO powers and controlling shares to me."Then he let out a short laugh. “Come on, Dad. Let’s be real—is the company even worth that much anymore, with all the scandal and debt dragging it down?”“You bastard!” Mr. Hayes growled through clenched teeth, slamming his fist against the armrest. But when Damian’s expression didn’t even flinch, Mr. Hayes narrowed his

Mr. Hayes quickly pulled his hand away, wincing as pain shot through his already bruised body.He took a step back, eyes narrowing at the son he no longer acknowledged, and masked his shock with a scoff."Do you think I'm joking when I say you have nothing to do with this family anymore?" He spat, his voice laced with contempt. "Or are you here to beg me to take you back? Finally realized you can't survive without the Hayes name, didn't you?"He circled Damian like a predator, despite his own injuries."I've heard all about your... adventures," he continued with a cruel smile. "Sleeping in cheap motels, borrowing money from people who once feared you. How the mighty have fallen, Damian."His lips curled in a smirk. "I heard you couldn't even keep that car you bought with your own money. Had to sell those fancy watches too, hmm? Tell me, how does it feel to be nothing?"To Mr. Hayes' su
