Damian didn't even seem to hear what the manager said. He just nodded and walked straight into the rain. It had slowed down now, just a light drizzle, but he didn't care. All he could think about was surprising Megan. She was probably still at home right now, busy taking care of his grandmother. He wanted to see her face when she opened the gift. That's why he bought it. That's why he rushed through work today just to get home early.

He couldn't wait.

He hopped on the public bus, and before long, he was standing in front of his apartment building. It wasn't much. Just a normal rental. Nothing fancy. Nothing special. But it was home.

Then he noticed the car parked out front.

It was expensive. The kind of car that screamed money. Whoever owned it was rich. Really rich. But that wasn't his business. His business was getting inside and seeing Megan.

He walked up to the door and reached for the handle. It wasn't locked. That was strange. Megan always locked the door. Always.

His stomach tightened. Maybe she was too tired. Maybe she forgot. He'd been working so hard, but so had she. Taking care of his grandmother wasn't easy. The thought of her being that exhausted made him feel guilty. He was supposed to be making her life easier, not harder.

He pushed the door open slowly.

That's when he heard it.

A sound. Coming from the bedroom.

A moan, Immediately he froze.

What was that? His mind scrambled for an explanation. Was Megan watching something? An adult movie maybe? That didn't make sense. She'd never done that before. But what else could it be?

Then another thought hit him.

When was the last time they'd been together? Really together? It had been weeks. Maybe longer. He'd been so caught up in work, so focused on making money, that he'd forgotten about that part of their relationship. Could it be that she was...lonely? That he'd been neglecting her without even realizing it?

The moaning got louder. More intense. Damian's feet wouldn't move. He could hear the bed frame slamming against the wall. Over and over. The rhythm was unmistakable.

That was Megan's voice.

His chest felt tight. Maybe she was using something on herself? But why would the bed be shaking like that? Why would it sound like someone was actually...

No.

He forced himself to move. One step. Then another. Heading toward the bedroom. The sounds got clearer.

"Mr. Nathaniel..." Megan's voice came through the door. Breathless. "You're such a bad man. Such a bad uncle. You're not showing me any mercy. You're just pounding away like you don't even care."

At that moment Damian stopped walking.

She kept talking. "So what else are you going to make me do? You forced me into this relationship. Forced me to pretend everything's fine. Forced me to put up with all this nonsense. What's next? Are you going to make me have a child for him too?"

Then the pounding stopped.

At that moment A man's voice answered. Deep. Smooth. Confident.

"No. That's never going to happen. Why would you have a child for that riffraff? That good-for-nothing scumbag can't even take care of himself. He can't even come up with ten thousand dollars. You think I'd let you have a baby with someone like that? It's sad enough that you're with him at all. I don't even know how you manage it. But if you're having a child for anyone, it's going to be me. Not that fool. Not that pathetic excuse for a man. For now, we just keep him in the dark. That's where he belongs. I'll never let that pig raise my child or lay his dirty poor hands on what's mine."

Damian's jaw clenched so tight it hurt. His fists balled up at his sides. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Megan. His uncle. Together.

How? When did this start?

Megan, of all people. He would've bet his life she'd never do something like this. He would've sworn on his father's grave. He would've sworn on his own deathbed that Megan wasn't capable of this.

But why? His feet moved before his brain could stop them. He stormed up the stairs and slammed the bedroom door open with his shoulder.

"Please let this be wrong. Please let this be some kind of mistake. Maybe it was a movie. Maybe Megan was just watching something and one of the characters was named Nathaniel. And Maybe the voice just sounded like his uncle's and sounded like her also.

“Please this should be the case.”

But when the door flew open, there was no movie.

It was real.

Megan was on the bed. Naked. His uncle was under her. Also naked. She was on top of him.

All the air left Damian's lungs. His body went cold. Like someone had ripped his soul out and left an empty shell standing there.

His voice came out shaking. Broken. "What the hell is going on?"

Megan climbed off his uncle slowly. She grabbed a short silk robe from the chair and wrapped it around herself loosely. It barely covered anything. His uncle didn't even bother getting up. He just pulled the bedsheet over his waist, still half exposed, and reached for the half-smoked cigar sitting on the nightstand.

He lit it. Took a long drag. Then blew the smoke directly at Damian.

"Are you surprised?" His uncle's voice was calm. Almost amused.

"You really didn't see this coming? Well, since you're here now, no point hiding it anymore. But honestly, you shouldn't be surprised at all. Did you really think you could keep a woman like Megan? Beautiful, smart, ambitious. You thought just because you're handsome or hardworking, that'd be enough? You think hard work and loyalty mean anything in this world anymore? Let me tell you something. They don't. Money talks. Money rules. And you don't have any. So tell me, what exactly did you expect? That she'd stick around when you have nothing?"

Not long after, Damien reached the place. The taxi barely came to a full stop before he was already pushing the door open and stepping out onto the gravel path that led into the cemetery. His heart was pounding so hard he could feel it in his throat, and his legs moved faster than his mind could think. This was the resting place of his mother, his father, and his younger sister, the one quiet corner of the world that still felt sacred to him, the one place he visited every single week without fail. But the moment he walked through the gate, everything inside him went cold. There wasn't just one man standing there. There wasn't two. There wasn't even three. Damien's eyes moved across the open ground and counted more than fifteen men scattered around the graves, and every single one of them was holding a sledgehammer. Some of them gripped shovels instead, the metal blades resting against their shoulders like tools waiting to be used. A few of the men had made themselves completely comf

Damien's jaw tightened, but he didn't say anything yet. He just listened.Nathaniel continued, his voice getting darker with every word. "Right now, I'm standing at the graveyard where your mother is buried. And you know that both your parents are placed together in that same spot, along with your younger sister. I'm standing right here, Damien, looking at their graves, and I'm giving you just five minutes to bring your stinking self over here. Five minutes. Not six, not seven. Five. And you better bring those documents I asked for along with you, because if you don't show up in time, everything here is going to be destroyed. Yes, destroyed. I'm going to ruin this place. I'm going to crush every stone, break every marker, dig up every inch of ground. Not just that, even if there are skeletons remaining, I will crush those too. So you better get here within five minutes and bring those documents with you, or everything your parents left behind, everything they rest in, is going down. Y

Not long after, Damien got to his parents old home and the moment he stepped through the door, he just stood there for a few seconds trying to catch his breath. He had just come down from the taxi, and his mind was still spinning from everything that had happened today. His chest felt tight, like someone had wrapped a rope around it and was pulling harder with every breath he took. He couldn't believe it. He still couldn't wrap his head around the fact that Megan, his Megan, the woman he had loved with everything in him, had actually betrayed him in the worst way possible. She had been sleeping with his uncle for years now, years, and he hadn't known a single thing about it. All this time, while he was out there working hard, trying to build something for their future, trying to be the man she claimed she wanted, she was busy warming Nathaniel's bed behind his back like he didn't even exist. They had been using him this whole time. Megan had been using him like he was some kind of to

Nathaniel's jaw locked tight. That letter would kill any chance he had of fighting this in court later. It would seal the deal permanently. But even if he tried to fight it, the video would still destroy him.He had no way out.He grabbed a piece of paper and started writing. His hand shook the entire time. When he finished, he threw the pen down and shoved the letter across the bed.Damian picked it up, read it, then folded it carefully and put it in his pocket along with the signed contract."Good. Now we're done. You can have her. I'll take what I want. And we'll go our separate ways."He turned toward the door.Megan's voice cracked behind him. "So this is what I mean to you? After everything? You're just going to throw me away like I'm nothing?"Damian stopped. He didn't turn around. Just looked at her over his shoulder."Oh." His voice was flat. Empty. "You don't even know what's coming for you. This is just the beginning."He looked at Nathaniel next. "A betrayer gets what they

He wasn't going to let that happen again. This time, he was going to sneak in. There was a blind spot. A way into the house that almost no one knew about. Not even Megan. It was a small door at the back of the house, near the bathroom. It connected to the outside through a narrow alley that most people forgot existed. He'd only used it once or twice, years ago, when he lost his keys.No one would expect him to come through there. He moved quickly, staying low, keeping to the shadows. The rain helped. It blurred the streetlights and muffled his footsteps. He made his way around the block, cutting through side streets until he reached the back alley behind his building. There it was. The door. Rusted. Half-hidden behind an old dumpster. He pulled out his phone and checked that it was recording. The screen glowed faintly in the dark. He didn't know exactly what he was going to find inside, but this time, he wasn't going in empty-handed.This time, he was going to get evidence.Damian mov

The rain started coming down harder. Damian could barely keep his eyes open. Everything hurt. His vision kept fading in and out. He'd lost too much blood. The car stopped. The guards yanked him out and dragged him toward the edge of a bridge. The river below was dark and moving fast. They tied his hands together. Then his legs. The rope cut into his skin, but he didn't have the strength to pull against it.One of the men leaned down close to his face. "In your next life, you'll know when to quit. You'll know some things are only meant for the rich."They picked him up.And then they threw him over the edge.Damian's body hit the water hard. The cold swallowed him whole. He couldn't swim. Couldn't move his arms or legs. The current pulled him under immediately. Water filled his nose, his mouth, his lungs. He tried to hold his breath, but there was nothing left in him to hold.He was sinking. His mind went to his grandmother. Lying in that hospital bed. Waiting for him. She had no one e
