CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FOUR
The sun had refused to rise properly. And even I’d it dared to, Devin was sure as hell ready to cover it. But it was, and it looked like even the heavens were mourning Kia's death. It was the second day of Kia’s burial rites. The estate was quieter now. Most of the visitors had paid their respects and left, some returning from the day before, others who had not been able to make it earlier. The funeral was now a constant source of pain. Devin wasn't there today. He had gone out, and not a lot of people knew where he was exactly, but everyone knew better than to ask. Kia's grave stayed just as it had been, surrounded by fresh flowers and gifts for the dead. The dirt was still fresh, and it looked like it didn't belong in this world. Like someone had punched a hole through mother earth and decided to drop an angel inside it. Amanda stood behind a tree, wearing a long black hoodie and sunglasses. Her hands trembled inside the oversized sleeves. She hadn't planned to cry, but the mo
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THREE
Yvonne Hall’s phone buzzed twice before she finally picked it up. She had just come out of a warm bath in a silk robe, happy that she was finally getting a moment to relax after working so much. Her phone suddenly rang. “Yvonne Hall.” She answered. “It’s me.” Said a frantic voice. “Marcus, Miss Hall, you have to come. Something bad has happened.” Her heart dropped. Marcus was one of Henry’s personal men. He was loyal and invisible most of the time. It was rare to hear him, let alone having him sound like this. “Speak.” She said, masking the worry in her heart with coldness. “Master Devin stormed Master Henry’s house. He accused him of poisoning Mistress Kia and then him away, ma’am… I don’t know what’s going on now.” “What? There’s no way Henry would do something like that!” “It’s bad. I think he’s going to kill Master Henry, and I don’t want that to happen. Saying he killed his fiancée…” “That’s bullshit!” Yvonne cut in sharply. “Henry wouldn’t harm a fly let alone Dev
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY TWO
“How the fuck is that a stupid question? All I want to do is to prove my innocence!” Henry Blaise was still coughing on blood, his lips cut and bruised, but his voice hadn’t lost its bite. Devin couldn’t respond to him. “I didn’t fucking do it!” He screamed again as Dreykov moved and pressed a boot against his chest to keep him down. Devin stared at him from above, eyes blazing like twin suns about to go nova. He didn’t say anything yet, all he wanted to do was to tear something apart. Viktor folded his arms and smirked. “Keep shouting, Henry. It’s only making you look more guilty.” Henry turned his head and spat blood at Viktor’s shoe. “Fuck you. You’ve always hated me. You’ve wanted this. I know you set me up!” “Oh please, Blaise.” Viktor said. “Don’t flatter yourself. I didn’t want this. I just *knew* it was only a matter of time before your fake-ass loyalty cracked.” Henry frowned. “You think you're so fucking clever, don’t you? You fucking parasite—” Be

Devin got up and stood still for a moment in the room, and then he clenched his fists so tight his knuckles made a loud cracking sound. He wiped his face and turned away from the broken monitors and torn bedsheets, feeling his soul get ripped out. He couldn’t believe that Henry, of all people, had betrayed him like this. "Get the fucking car!” He said to no one in particular. His voice was hoarse. He immediately turned to leave, and Dreykov came forward immediately. "Sir?" "Get the fucking car.” Devin repeated. "We're going to Henry's." Dreykov gave a nod and turned around. “Yes, boss." Within five minutes, they were outside. The air felt taut, and everyone could feel that something was terribly wrong. Lightning cracked in the sky and for a second, it painted Devin's face with a pale, merciless glow. Dreykov drove, and no one dared to say a word. Inside the car, Devin sat still, fists pressed to his knees. Viktor sat beside him in the backseat, holding the flash driv

People were scattering in tears and fear, some moved back enough and started to whisperer amongst themselves, none of them daring to go close to the room. Nobody wanted to be near him. Devin Stone had turned into a storm. And then Viktor walked into the room, unperturbed by the place which felt like it was about to come crashing down.. He turned back and looked at the faces of those trembling nurses, and the bloody knuckles of a security guard leaning against the wall, not to mention the ones who were crawling away, and the cracked windows. He frowned, good thing Devin was only letting out a tiny fraction of his power. Not to mention that he didn’t need anyone to tell him what had happened. The air reeked of grief and sadness, and it was Devin’s. He stopped at the door, which was hanging on its hinges. Inside, Devin was still by the bed, and he was cradling Kia’s body sadly like she’d just fallen asleep. His eyes were blank, and his face was wet with tears and full of agony. Vik

Devin brought the necklace out of his coat and then he held it tightly as he entered into the broker's home. The place smelled like burnt sage, with candles here and there, and weird looking shadows on the walls. The broker looked up from a book he was reading. He was dressed in a dark green robe with red stitching and his eyes that looked like they'd seen centuries of pain and pleasure. Without a word, Devin dropped the necklace on the table in front of him. The broker stared at it, then slowly looked up in disbelief. "Wow." He said. "You really got it." Devin didn't bother with a reply. The broker picked up the necklace gently, holding it up and beaming. "This is just a miracle. How... you killed for this, didn't you?" "I earned it." Devin said. "But would it have mattered if I did?" "No, if would be the same thing." The broker smiled. "Either way, you paid the price and got me what I needed." "I held up my end." Devin said, moving closer to him. "Now it's
